Chapter 12 First Encounter with a Hero

"Borrow something?"

Li Buying lowered her voice and looked at the Mafia, stepping on an iron bar on the ground and holding it in her hand: "Perfect timing, I also want to borrow something from you."

My God, could he be some kind of supervillain...?

Li Buying's spider mask exuded fear. The leader wanted to retreat, but the die was cast, so he immediately gripped his butterfly knife and shouted to his men, "Go! Grab him!"

As the boy gripped the steel bar, various battle scenes naturally flashed through his mind. In an instant, he forcefully hurled the steel bar at the mafia members in front of him, the immense force even causing the hard steel bar to bend slightly.

Snapped--!

A loud cracking sound rang out as the steel bar slammed into the mafia boss's hastily raised arm, severing it completely. His head was also hit. The massive shock made the boss appear unharmed on the surface, but his mind was already a complete mess.

Seeing their leader fall, the other underlings naturally had to show their loyalty. They didn't think that Li Buying had killed him with one blow, and they all rushed towards the boy.

The alley was very narrow, only wide enough for two people to pass through at most. Li Buying couldn't wield the steel bars with great skill. He basically only used three moves: stabbing, chopping, and thrusting. Each move would kill a mafia member instantly.

Finally, only two people remained in the alley. Li Buying watched as the last survivor walked towards him. The thug suddenly knelt down, covering his head with his hands and crying, "No, no, no, don't kill me!"

"Which gang are you from?"

Li Buying struck the mafia member's shoulder with a steel bar, and he said, trembling, "Yes, it's the Rattlesnake Gang."

The Rattlesnakes gang—he remembered it was the gang that framed Luke Cage, wasn't it?

After a moment's thought, the boy decided to scout the area first. After learning the location from the thug, he killed him without hesitation, threw the stick on the ground, tugged at his gloves, and headed towards the Rattlesnake Gang's headquarters in Hell's Kitchen.

"Hey, it's been so long, that gangster's death must have been a revenge killing."

"That's not necessarily true. There are more and more weirdos in tight suits on the streets these days. A Spider-Man who shoots webs from his hands has appeared in Queens. The boss of Stark Industries is Iron Man. Who knows if another Punisher will appear in Hell's Kitchen?"

In the Rattlesnake gang's stronghold, the two guards at the gate were discussing the small gang that had been wiped out a few days ago. While lamenting, they were also feeling mentally exhausted. They didn't notice a dark figure jumping up the wall and climbing upwards, finally slipping into a second-floor window.

Climbing through the window into the empty room, Li Buying closed his eyes and listened to the sounds inside the building. It was basically silent, which proved that most people were asleep, and his current situation was relatively safe.

He turned the doorknob, and the door was locked. He simply flicked his fingers and produced a wire, which he casually turned to unlock the old-fashioned door lock, and stepped into the corridor.

Li Buying's goal was to find information on the Rattlesnake Gang leader. Instead of killing everyone in the building, he went directly to the floor that resembled an office, pried open the glass door, and entered a private office.

These days, even gangs need to find an office.

As he sighed, he searched for information related to the Rattlesnake leader. Callum Lynch's combat memories helped him once again, and Li Buying eliminated some unimportant positions.

He focused his search on the desk, opened the drawers ignoring the paper documents, confirmed that the thickness of the drawer's wooden board was incorrect, then found the button to pull out the board and discovered a recording device inside the hidden compartment.

The office was well soundproofed. Li Buying, wearing a hood, looked up at the monitoring equipment and turned it on to listen.

"Oh, my dear Bonnie, you did a great job."

"It is my honor to serve you, Mr. Stryker."

"Just call me Willis. Hell's Kitchen is currently the most fiercely contested area by various forces. Kingpin, Hammerhead, Tombstone, and Mr. Negative are all starting major battles. We need to be careful and avoid becoming cannon fodder."

"My dear Mr. Willis, please rest assured, I will act with caution."

"That's good. Also, a shipment is arriving soon..."

The recording device contained the details of a transaction between Willis Stryker, the "Rattlesnake," and Bonnie, the head of this outpost. This small-time boss named Bonnie may have kept this device in order to retaliate if he were framed.

There were many recordings inside, but Li Buying couldn't find the address of Willis Stryker that he needed. So he put the recording equipment in his pocket to take it home and listen to it. Just then, a loud noise came from downstairs.

"Enemy attack! Wonder Man is here!"

A gangster shouted, leaving Li Buying speechless. Why did they have to come at this time of year?

He tossed the recording equipment into the storage space, opened the office window, climbed onto the wall, and slowly moved downwards. Objects were constantly being thrown out of the window. Once back on the ground, the boy immediately left, not wanting to get involved in a battle that had nothing to do with him.

However, they hadn't gone far when a flexible steel cable emerged from the darkness and tried to bind Li Buying's hand. His spider senses immediately activated, and the boy, sensing the attack, dodged the cable's entanglement and watched it return to a short stick.

Seeing the sharp-horned, red-suited hero emerge from the darkness, Li Buying felt a bit troubled—he hadn't expected Daredevil to come with a group as well.

"Sir, I think you should explain why you're in the Rattlesnake gang's hideout?"

"It's just a personal grudge with the Rattlesnake gang, Daredevil," Li Buying said, shrugging as she listened to the sounds inside the building. Luke Cage should still be a while away. "If you want the recording equipment I got, I can put it in the park tomorrow, and you can come and get it yourselves."

Li Buying wasn't quite sure how powerful Daredevil's senses were, or whether he could hear her rummaging through drawers in her office from this distance.

But he knew that lying to Daredevil was difficult. His super hearing could even help Daredevil distinguish heartbeats to detect lies, which was a capability that most Daredevils possessed.

Hearing Li Buying's sincere answer, Daredevil hesitated slightly, but felt that Li Buying was somewhat familiar.

A moment later, Matthew Michael remembered where he had smelled that scent before—at the place where the gang had been wiped out.

"Was it you who wiped out an entire gang more than ten days ago?"

"Oh my God, if you can go there, why can't I?"

Li Buying remained calm, shrugged and told Daredevil, but made no mention of whether she had actually killed them.

Daredevil was simply worried about a Punisher roaming New York, but as a lawyer, he knew this unknown hero was only slightly suspicious. He hesitated for a moment, then shook his head and put away his baton.

"No need, we're not here to record."

"Then I wish you success in your mission."

Li Buying was quite happy that he wouldn't have to fight superheroes. Just as he was about to turn into the alley and step into the sewer, Daredevil's voice came from behind the boy:

"By the way, I haven't asked your name yet."
