Chapter 35 Snape, the Cross-dressing Master
Chapter 35 Snape, the Cross-dressing Master
Professor McGonagall was furious. She waved her wand, and a fountain gushed forth, quickly extinguishing the flames on Eloise's head.
After his mishap, McClargan stood frozen in his seat, thinking that heaven might not be ahead, but hell was certainly beside him.
Professor McGonagall gave him a death stare, an expression that seemed to turn him into a rat.
Eloise was equally furious; her hair, which she had grown all summer, was burned to a crisp by a single match.
The way she looked at McLagan was as if she wanted to shoot him in the head with an Avada Kedavra!
Professor McGonagall said sternly, "Mr. MacLagan, because of you, Gryffindor loses five points!"
Upon hearing Professor McGonagall's deduction, all the Gryffindor wizards glared at McLaggan as if they wanted to tear him to pieces in the crotch.
Keep in mind that Gryffindor's house grades are currently negative!
Eloise started to sob. What girl doesn't love beauty? Even though she wasn't exactly pretty before.
Professor McGonagall comforted her with concern, "It's alright, Pomfrey has hair regrowth potion. It will grow back overnight."
She conjured up a large red hat with a movable lion's head on it.
The hat was placed on Eloise's head, covering her hair which looked like it had been chewed by a husky, and Katie Bell helped her walk toward the school hospital.
Professor McGonagall also quietly reminded Katie to take the less crowded staircase.
Five minutes later, get out of class finally ended.
Professor McGonagall kept William behind.
"Professor McGonagall, what do you need me for?" William asked after all the students had left.
"Mr. Stark, you're making rapid progress in Transfiguration," Professor McGonagall said, carefully choosing her words.
"According to the previous teaching schedule, most students would not finish the project of turning matches into needles until a month and a half after the start of the semester."
"That means you're at least six weeks ahead of the other students. I'd like to know, did you do any pre-study during the summer vacation?"
William nodded honestly: "Yes, I've studied it myself."
William did not want to create the illusion that he was a genius in Transfiguration, because he was not a genius in this area at all.
"How long did it take?" Professor McGonagall asked.
"More than half a month."
The surprise in Professor McGonagall's eyes faded.
For more than half a month, he was certainly considered excellent among his peers, but he was definitely not a genius.
This speed is only slightly better than that of an ordinary junior wizard, but compared to a genius who can complete the transformation in just a few days, it is worlds apart!
Not to brag, but McGonagall completed her Transfiguration in a single day back then, finished the sixth-grade Transfiguration textbook in third grade, and won the Most Promising Newcomer Award in contemporary Transfiguration before graduation!
When it comes to talent in Transfiguration... McGonagall is no match for anyone.
Professor McGonagall had assumed that William was also a wizard with exceptional talent in transfiguration, but it now appeared that this was not the case.
But the appreciation in her eyes didn't diminish; on the contrary, it increased.
"There aren't many wizards left who can settle down and study hard at this age."
"Such a strong thirst for knowledge, Mr. Stark, I know why you were assigned to Ravenclaw."
Professor McGonagall continued, "Hufflepuff once said, 'Diligence is the greatest motivation for a wizard's progress.'"
"With diligence and intelligence, Mr. Stark, you would surely become an outstanding Ravenclaw. It's a pity... the Sorting Hat should have sorted you into Gryffindor."
"Just call me William, Professor," William said with a smile. "The Sorting Hat did consider that."
"I never believe that a wizard has only one quality; many children possess characteristics of all four houses." Professor McGonagall winked and smiled slyly. "The Sorting Hat once considered sorting me into Ravenclaw."
"That's a real shame; Ravenclaw has lost a brilliant witch because of it," William said.
Professor McGonagall laughed, patted William on the shoulder, and said, "I don't want to compete with Flitwick for the position of Dean of Ravenclaw."
Okay, if there's anything you don't understand, feel free to ask me.
William nodded: "I will. Cedric suggested the same thing to me."
Professor McGonagall exclaimed in surprise, "I remember... William, you're Muggle-born, aren't you?"
"Yes, I met Cedric at Ollivanders wand shop during the summer vacation, and I learned a lot from him during the holidays," William explained.
"Olivendell Wand Shop... I advised that child not to put too much energy into wand making; it's a waste of his talent." Professor McGonagall shook her head.
It's clear that she doesn't approve of the wand-making industry.
"However, Cedric is indeed one of the most outstanding geniuses in Transfiguration among all the students I have taught."
The last person this talented was James more than a decade ago…”
Professor McGonagall sighed.
"James..." William recalled the conflict at the university hospital, during which Professor Tywin mentioned James's name.
"James Potter, a student of Gryffindor, died at the hands of the Mystic," Professor McGonagall said sadly.
Potter… Upon hearing this, William immediately knew who this was: the famous father of Harry Potter.
William asked, "Professor McGonagall, may I ask you something? Were Professor Snape and Professor Tywin classmates before?"
Professor McGonagall nodded. "They are classmates, but not from the same college."
"Have they ever had any conflicts?"
Professor McGonagall asked curiously, "Why would you ask such a question?"
William didn't reveal the conflict at the school hospital, only vaguely replying, "I think the two of them don't seem to get along very well."
Professor McGonagall said seriously, "William, there's no conflict between the professors. Your task is to study hard."
William nodded, not daring to speak or ask any further questions, because Professor McGonagall gave him a stern look.
Fortunately, besides Professor McGonagall, William had other people he could ask.
—He was an old man who had been at Hogwarts for fifty years, and probably knew the school better than most professors!
The title of "most stubborn holdout" is not just a casual remark.
……
……
On Thursday morning, Professor Snape was finally discharged from the hospital.
But his troubles didn't stop there.
With Snape's discharge from the hospital, rumors began circulating at school again that he had been confessed to.
It's impossible to know which academy or which junior wizard first leaked it, but overnight, it seemed like everyone knew the contents of the love letter, as if they had seen it with their own eyes!
Professor Snape got busy, squinting as he tried to find out who was behind the rumors spreading about him.
He vented all his anger on the other three houses, deducting hundreds of points in just a few days, especially Gryffindor.
Ravenclaw maintained its lead thanks to the early advantage brought by William.
Gryffindor is in a terrible situation; they're on their way to the lowest score in the school's history, a path from which there is no turning back.
Professor Snape did nothing wrong; his intuition was correct, it was indeed a rumor spread by Gryffindor.
That letter was written by the Weasley brothers.
At a dinner party one day, Lee Jordan even hired an owl to give Professor Snape a... Lolita dress.
Snape's reputation as a cross-dresser spread like wildfire!
