Liena drew the short sword from her bosom and aimed it at the scheming enemy in front of her.

Claiming to be the Duke's daughter now will do no good. The only way to deal with these people is to shut them up with your sword.

She briefly considered the consequences of killing these people, and then realized that there were basically no irreversible consequences as she had imagined.

After all, she was the Duke's daughter. If she couldn't even be forgiven for killing in self-defense when her life was threatened, then her Duke father would have no authority whatsoever.

"I hope you can understand that this was not my intention."

"Grab her!"

Liena drew her sword without hesitation, and as the first man charged at her, the sword pierced his chest. A moment later, she withdrew the sword and plunged it into another man.

My father taught me that when facing multiple opponents, I should break down a one-to-many battle into many one-to-one battles.

Now Liena is doing the same thing.

"Boss, this woman is too strong!"

To put it bluntly, these people are just ordinary thugs, nothing particularly noteworthy.

They were originally a bunch of cowards who were afraid of death. After realizing that the person in front of them was not someone who could be easily manipulated, they automatically became the ones who were easily manipulated.

After Liena stabbed several people to death, the rest scattered like birds and beasts.

Just as Liena was about to continue, a weak voice came from behind her.

"I mean, it's one thing for you to come here alone late at night, but to go around killing people like this, I really don't know what to say."

Liena deduced that the man in front of her was the one she was looking for, and she didn't hold back at all, telling him her purpose.

"I'm here to investigate the truth behind Viya's death."

"Oh? So you're someone sent by the nobility? No, no, no, don't tell me the answer. I have a feeling that if I get the answer from you, trouble will come knocking."

"You're quite clever when it comes to this kind of thing."

The wizard shook his head.

"If you're not smart, you can't survive in a place like this."

"Aren't you going to invite me in?"

"I'm sorry, but you can ask me any questions here. By the way, could you take off that ring on your finger? I'm worried it might be a magical item, and I wouldn't be able to defend against it if you suddenly activated it."

"Haha, okay."

The wizard was right; what Liena held was indeed a magical artifact.

She took off the ring, but it wasn't her only magical item.

"Okay, what do you want to know?"

"I want to know about Viya. You have a close relationship with her, right?"

"You can't say that. We only have some business dealings. In fact, if you're hoping to find information about her from the wizards in the city, I can only say that you're dreaming. This girl is that Drak's student. The gap between her and us is even greater than the gap between mortals and us."

Liena had heard a little about the hierarchical differences between wizards.

"Has there been any internal discussion about this?"

"They've got their academic work targeted; that happens all the time in the wizarding world."

What followed was a string of academic terms among wizards that Liena couldn't understand, leaving her bewildered.

Finally, the wizard provided some information that was somewhat useful.

"Viya had a good relationship with a woman named Elizabeth, but Elizabeth was a prostitute who died with her. However, you can go to her shop and ask."

"What? You mean that kind of place?"

Liena was now in a dilemma. If she went into that kind of place, she would definitely be scolded by her father if he found out.

"It's definitely inappropriate for a noble lady to go to a place like that."

"That's none of your business."

Liena always felt that the wizard was making fun of her, but the guy's expression didn't seem to be joking at all.

"Where is it? I'll go investigate."

Liena wanted to see more things that she couldn't usually see inside the castle, but that didn't mean she wanted to wander around places like this.

This is a small tavern. However, some strange ribbons are hanging on the sign outside.

As soon as she entered, Liena could sense the strange atmosphere inside.

Unlike ordinary pubs, this place had an unexpectedly large number of female customers, and they were dressed provocatively, clearly not just casual patrons.

This place was more of a tacitly agreed-upon trading venue. The tavern owner didn't have much of an opinion on these things, tacitly allowing these women to solicit customers in his establishment and incidentally improve his business.

This pattern is quite common in small cities, especially in places like Ortham where lords basically don't do much.

Liena really didn't want to come to a place like this, and she could almost foresee being approached by those people as if she were a prostitute.

If I cause trouble here, I'll probably be seen as an enemy by all the men in the city.

With that thought in mind, Liena entered the tavern.

After waiting for about twenty minutes, no one came up to chat with her, and for some reason, Liena was actually a little disappointed.

"Why aren't these guys reacting at all? Am I not good-looking enough?"

Liena was puzzled, but it was a good thing that no one was causing trouble. She was thinking about where to start when she saw a new friend she had recently met.

Vitas Vitalius.

She was quite surprised, but after careful consideration, she felt that it should be so.

Vitas himself had originally planned to investigate in the lowest levels of society, places that could be described as the lowest of the low.

Of course, it's also possible that he simply came here to enjoy himself.

Liena saw Vitas chatting with a woman, so she waited patiently.

After seeing Vitas finally say goodbye to the woman with a smile, she stood up and walked straight over.

Vitas noticed Liena, then gave a rather mocking smile.

"Your Highness's antics are quite extraordinary. Would you like me to introduce you to some beautiful girls?"

"Shut up, Vitas. Do I need to tell Aethera about this?"

"Perhaps not, but I think Etherra is prepared for me to be in a place like this. And you, sir, what are you doing here?"

Liena began to feel that this guy was just there to have fun.

"I'm here to see Elizabeth."
