Chapter 5 Admission Notice

Chapter 5 Admission Notice

By the time Dumbledore and Snape realized that the name Ivy originally gave to the grimoire was not "Grimoire of Destruction", it was too late.

None of them could change Ivy's rock-hard mind.

After all, the greatest white wizard of the 20th century and the youngest head of Slytherin had to face a middle school boy whose body had shrunk due to an ancient magical accident and whose mind had become somewhat younger.

For such self-conscious children, it is difficult to find a second adjective other than "stubborn" to describe the energy they waste on cool things (especially those they think are cool).

Whether it's the child's own or the adults in the family.

Fortunately, the strange noise coming from the principal's office alarmed the three people present.

It was a "clicking" sound, like someone tapping the table with fingernails, or like the sound of some hard book being placed on the table.

"What's that noise?" Ivy looked around, wondering if it was the portrait of one of the principals making the noise.

"Perhaps it is some of my collection?" Dumbledore seemed to be unsure of what the sound was. "Of course, it could also be that Fawkes was pecking at the door."

As soon as he finished speaking, Fox, who was standing on the gilded branch, immediately began to sing and spread his wings to blow out a gust of hot wind, as if trying to prove his innocence.

But before Dumbledore had time to comfort Fawkes, someone else came to visit the not-so-big headmaster's office.

The person who pushed the door open was a middle-aged witch with a high bun, wearing a dark green robe and a serious and confident expression. Ivy matched her with the impression she had of Minerva McGonagall.

"Oh." Professor McGonagall raised an eyebrow. "I thought you were at Honeydukes again, Albus. It's good to see you here. As for the other two gentlemen, good afternoon."

When Professor McGonagall's eyes moved to Ivy, she couldn't help but ask, "Who is this gentleman...? I don't remember there being a Slytherin who looks so young in the school, Severus?"

"I'm Ivy Doom, hello..." Ivy greeted politely and then cast a questioning look at Dumbledore.

"Minerva McGonagall, Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts and my most capable assistant." Dumbledore introduced proudly, and then he turned to Professor McGonagall, "This is Avedum, a former fifth-year student at Hogwarts."

"Ever?" Professor McGonagall muttered, "I don't remember ever approving the expulsion of such a young Slytherin fifth-year student..."

She swept her stern eyes across everyone's face and nodded at Ivy imperceptibly. "Okay, Albus, no matter what tricks you are playing, please make way now. I'm going to check the list in the admission book. It is said that Mr. Harry Potter has not received the admission letter from Hogwarts yet. I think it is necessary to let him know that he is a wizard on his birthday."

Snape stood up and made way for her. Professor McGonagall climbed up an inconspicuous staircase in the headmaster's office without looking back. According to Ivy's experience of wandering around the headmaster's office more than a hundred years ago, the staircase led to a dusty tower with only two things in it, the Book of Admission and the Pen of Acceptance. They were important magical props that determined who could come to Hogwarts to study. Once the name was recorded in the Book of Admission by the Pen of Acceptance, it meant that some kind of mysterious contract was established between Hogwarts and the little wizard. After that, as long as you wear the Sorting Hat at the Sorting Ceremony, it means that this magical castle has completely accepted you.

The facilities in the castle, including stairs and portraits, will bring you convenience or play tricks on you at the right moment. The house-elves working for Hogwarts will also regard you as the master of the castle and provide you with necessary services, including carrying luggage, cleaning and preparing meals.

Therefore, for every young wizard who aspires to enter Hogwarts, the Book of Admission and the Pen of Acceptance are extremely important props. However, I have never heard of any wizard being able to change their decision and write the names of people who should not be admitted.

More than a hundred years ago, Ivy had picked up the Pen of Acceptance, but he had no way of writing on the Book of Admission with it. Because the faded feather pen was made of the feathers of a divination bird, it could not pick up any drop of ink, and the ink bottle next to the Book of Admission was empty. Ivy did not have the time to study these two magic props carefully at that time, so he could not witness how they worked.

However, according to some reading materials in the restricted area, the ink flowing from the tip of the Pen of Acceptance is a liquid substance with a silvery luster, but no one knows what the true appearance of that ink is.

Professor McGonagall disappeared down the stairs, and the headmaster's office returned to peace.

Ivy didn't know whether he should continue discussing the previous topic, whether it was the "Grimoire of Destruction", ancient magic, or something else...

And from Dumbledore's expression, it was unclear whether he had any intention of continuing the topic.

Dumbledore suddenly tore off a piece of paper and finished writing with a few strokes. He called Fawkes on the gilded branch, whispered a few words beside its head, and then released the big golden-red bird out of the window.

"Perhaps we should continue today's topic at another time. Since you were once a Slytherin, let Severus take you to..." Dumbledore was interrupted by Professor McGonagall upstairs before he could finish his words.

"I can't believe my eyes, Dumbledore!" She looked a little angry for some reason, "There are still three little wizards who haven't received their acceptance letters!"

"Mr. Ivy Doom?" Professor McGonagall asked loudly as she walked down the stairs. After Ivy hesitantly answered "yes", she continued, "This is your admission letter. After the sorting ceremony, it won't be too late for you to wear the shining Slytherin robes on your body."

When she finished speaking, Professor McGonagall had already come to Ivy and handed him a letter.

There was a wax seal on the top of the envelope, and below the wax seal was a shield with a capital "H" surrounded by a lion, an eagle, a badger, and a snake.

"Please let me solve one third of it for you. You should at least think about what to do with the remaining two thirds, Dumbledore?" Professor McGonagall didn't have time to notice the surprised expression on Ivy's face, and turned to Dumbledore.

Dumbledore had a smile on his face besides surprise. "I have already asked Hagrid to take care of Mr. Harry Potter's affairs. As for the little wizard who didn't receive the letter... Severus, please make the trip."

Snape blew out a reluctant breath through his nose and took the other letter from Professor McGonagall.
