Chapter 80 The Last Glance

A few hours was enough time for the strange male bear to escape to a place several kilometers away, but it could not escape the relentless pursuit of Caesar.

The polar bear's sense of smell alerted the male bear to Caesar's pursuit, and it began to cautiously try to escape.

This caused the two bears to keep circling in the same place, wasting a lot of time.

But for Slok, who knew Caesar extremely well and was adept at finding him, he could accurately find the shortest shortcut from the messy and overlapping scents left behind.

The male bear followed the scent, then turned and whispered to the two cubs the key to mastering this amazing skill.

These methods can not only be used to find Caesar, but also to make the bear cubs more adept at hunting prey.

Guo Mi wasn't particularly skilled at this skill; she was probably better at stuffing animals into her mouth than tracking specific prey.
—Even if this animal is not on the bear's menu at all.

Therefore, this is a rare experience, and even Guo Mi must listen carefully.

However, sharing experience at this time inevitably risks delaying the process.

But Guo Mi knew that Slok wasn't delaying the time to go find Caesar; he was delaying the time for her to think.

Because he also knew about Guo Mi's hesitation.

But when Caesar's scent had become so strong that they could see him simply by looking up, all hesitation became meaningless.

Mixed with Caesar's scent was an extremely strong stench of blood!

The first thing that caught my eye was the blood everywhere and the white fur covered with thick bloodstains and mottled pieces of flesh.

Then came Caesar, whose entire body, from his mouth to his chest and claws, was soaked in blood. Blood, which was so thick it dripped down his fur and onto the ground.

At his feet, a lifeless polar bear lay stiff on its side.

Its body was covered with claw marks, and its once majestic silver fur had lost its luster, leaving only dullness and bloodstains. There were abnormal indentations on its ribs, which must have been broken.

The bite mark on the side of the neck was so deep that the bone was visible, which was enough to show that the final fatal blow was delivered without hesitation when the person was struggling to survive.

So blood gushed out from the hole in his neck, staining the ground beneath him red.

Seemingly having caught their scent, the male bear in the distance turned around, its eyes still gleaming with murderous intent, fierce and ruthless.

Even though they were still some distance away, it was enough to scare the two bear cubs so much that they froze and couldn't move.

Such a scene is a nightmare for them, a trauma left over from their early childhood, a shadow they can never escape in this lifetime.

The salmon had already burrowed under Guo Mi's belly.

She's grown up now and can no longer completely hide herself under Guo Mi, but she still tries her best to arch forward, attempting to hide her exposed buttocks as well.

This reaction actually relieved Guo Mi.

Fishbone, who is usually timid, did not hide in Guo Mi's arms with her sister this time.

Looking around, the half-grown bear cub sat alone in the same spot, panting heavily. His small chest and abdomen heaved violently, his pupils began to dilate, his gums turned purple, his body was as hard as a stone, and his body temperature plummeted.

As if he had anticipated this, Slok had already come to Guo Mi's side before him and lowered his head to lick his forehead.

The warm, damp heat on her forehead jolted Fishbone awake. Upon seeing Slok's appearance, she suddenly let out a terrified scream and rushed towards Guo Mi without looking back, desperately trying to burrow into Guo Mi's arms with her sister.

Slok, however, was not surprised at all, and looked at Guo Mi with a helpless gaze.

...This was a situation that he and Guo Mi had already foreseen.

He knew all of Guo Mi's decisions, and although he always gave her time to hesitate, he approved of her actions. The timing of the two bear cubs losing their mother was too special; they were old enough to remember everything that happened, yet so young that they had no ability to adjust themselves.

Guo Mi didn't know whether the two little bears simply didn't want to recall that memory, or whether that memory was no longer enough to hurt them.

So she made this decision.

Slok's reaction had already told her that Caesar's pursuit of the male bear was not just to avenge Slok; he would bite it to death.

This wasn't just a simple act of venting anger; it was also a way to completely eliminate any potential dangers for Slok and to deter other male bears.

Although the male bear did not attack Slok with the intention of provoking him, it still managed to strike with its deadly claws, indicating that the deterrent effect left by Caesar was waning.

Therefore, Caesar chose to kill him directly.

He used this behavior to tell all the restless bears that he was still Slok's brother and that he hadn't abandoned him.

If they try to take advantage of Slok again, he'll bite them to death.

Even if the other bears don't know why this male bear was killed, it's enough that they know Caesar killed him by the scent left on the body!
Next time they casually lay a hand on Slok, they'll think twice before doing so, wondering if Caesar will cause trouble for them.

Fierce, dictatorial, dangerous, violent...

He truly deserves the title of "Snow Tyrant" and is the real Caesar, protecting his brother in his own way.

Such behavior is perfectly normal in nature, so normal that these dangers will follow the bear cubs around even after they have completely left Guomi.

Guo Mi chose this opportunity to let them confront their inner fears once again.

Because there won't be a next chance.

The next time a similar scene occurs, the perpetrator might be Caesar, but it might not be him.

But the victims will change from the male bear to the two bear cubs themselves.

There was no longer time for them to be frozen in fear, and no more bears would be waiting for them to seek refuge.

At this moment, Slok stepped forward as the male bear who was closest to the cubs, which was the best thing for the two cubs.

Because he can neither act as a mother bear like Guo Mi, allowing them to rely on him, nor can he completely scare them into giving up.

It can provide some buffer.

Caesar, standing some distance away, was clearly taken aback by the sudden appearance of Guo Mi with her two cubs, and was momentarily stunned.

Seeing the two cubs desperately trying to burrow into her arms, the male bear unexpectedly did not approach.

He stood there, covered in blood, watching Slok slowly approach Guo Mi, bowing his head to comfort the trembling baby in her arms.

After an unknown amount of time, the two little cubs finally crawled out from under Guo Mi's belly, but they didn't even have the courage to look in his direction.

Caesar blinked, watching as Guo Mi glanced back at him. There seemed to be something in her eyes, but he couldn't quite make it out. Finally, the round bear seemed to say something to Slok, then slowly turned and left with the little bear.

Then came the sight of Slok, enduring the pain, staggering over.

Caesar stood there, stunned, watching Guo Mi's figure gradually disappear.
