Gryffindor's flying lessons were scheduled to be taken together with Slytherin's, and after the afternoon break, they went to the lawn outside the castle.
Throughout the journey, Vera could hear Harley muttering things like, "If Malfoy dares to provoke us again, I'll take care of it."
Hermione, on the other hand, kept nervously muttering about the various precautions for riding a broomstick.
Vera was so tired of hearing it that she was practically sick of it.
When they arrived, there were already more than twenty flying brooms neatly arranged on the grass, and many students from the Lion and Snake Colleges were gathered in twos and threes.
Even from a great distance, Vera could hear Malfoy loudly proclaiming his heroic feat of dodging a Muggle helicopter on a broomstick.
When he saw Harley pushing Vera over, he gave a disdainful snort, turned around, and walked away with his entourage.
“This guy…” Harley clenched her fists, and several veins bulged on the back of her thin hands.
Seeing her annoyed expression, Vera could only gently take her hand to comfort her.
Even if we want to teach that guy a lesson, we can't do it in public.
At least... it needs to be a bit more discreet.
Vera narrowed her eyes as she looked at Malfoy's figure not far away.
Chapter Thirty-One: Harley's Other Side (Eight Updates)
Mrs. Hooch, the flight instructor, arrived soon after. She had short, gray hair and sharp yellow eyes, and looked very capable.
She didn't immediately urge the others to hurry up and stand in line, but instead walked quickly over to Vera after spotting her.
“Miss Black,” Mrs. Hooch crouched down to look her in the eye, “Professor Dumbledore has explained your situation to me. Given the special nature of the course, you can pass the flight course assessment directly with an A grade.”
However, for your safety, you will need to observe the entire course from the sidelines and will not need to participate in the actual operations.
Vera nodded: "Thank you for your kind offer, Professor... let's do it that way."
Mrs. Fok turned and walked towards the other students, gesturing for them to quickly go and stand in line.
Harley and Hermione took the opportunity to immediately move closer to Vera, looking at her with concern.
"Vera, are you alright on your own?" Harley crouched down, her green eyes full of concern. "Should we push you over there?"
Hermione quickly tugged at Harley's clothes, telling her to stop talking.
"I'm fine." Vera gently patted their hands. "You should go to class now, don't keep Mrs. Hochi waiting."
Harley wanted to say something more, but Mrs. Hodge had already started calling out names, so they reluctantly went to their brooms.
Vera pushed her wheelchair to the edge of the venue and quietly observed the progress of the lesson.
In the original book, the flight lesson was indeed the starting point for Harley to become a Seeker, but it was of little use to Vera.
Currently, the wheelchair, which has been enchanted with a powerful levitation spell, is sufficient for her basic living needs.
Learning to fly with a broom is less important to her than mastering the Levitation Charm.
Even if she can stand up smoothly in the future, she still feels that this thing looks quite uncomfortable.
In situations like this, it's best not to be reckless.
Mrs. Hodge demonstrated how to summon the broom and the basic riding posture, and then let the students begin to practice.
"Get up!" Harley shouted at the broom on the ground, and the broom immediately jumped into her hand.
But only a few brooms were so obedient. Hermione's broom just rolled on the ground, while Neville's broom didn't budge at all.
Malfoy, on the other hand, had a smooth experience. His broom obediently jumped into his hand, and he glanced at Vera from afar with a rather smug look.
The provocation is obvious.
Vera didn't react to this childish behavior, but Harry, standing opposite Malfoy, silently took in everything.
Next, Mrs. Hodge spent a considerable amount of time demonstrating to them how to ride on a broom without slipping off, and correcting each of them on how to hold their hands.
"Alright, when I whistle, you all push off the ground with your legs, push hard!" Mrs. Hooch said. "Hold your brooms steady, rise a few feet, then lean forward slightly and land vertically back on the ground. Listen to my whistle—three—two—"
Before she could finish speaking, Neville, nervous, pushed off the ground in advance, and the broom shot up.
“Mr. Longbottom! Come back!” Mrs. Hodge shouted, but Neville’s broom was out of control. He could only scream in terror as the broom spun wildly, threatening to throw him off at any moment.
Vera frowned, immediately propelling her wheelchair forward while drawing her wand: "Yugadim Leviosa!"
A burst of magic shot from the tip of the staff, precisely slowing Neville's descent.
At the same time, Lady Hooch quickly chanted a levitation spell, and the two magical forces simultaneously supported the falling Neville, allowing him to slowly fall back to the ground.
Neville was deathly pale, his legs went weak and he collapsed to the ground, still clutching the out-of-control broom tightly in his hand.
"I...I'm going to throw up..." he weakly made a vomiting gesture.
Mrs. Hodge quickly stepped forward to check on his condition, then looked sternly at the whole class: "I am now taking Mr. Longbottom to the hospital. In the meantime, no one is allowed to fly without permission! Violators will be expelled!"
After she helped the trembling Neville away, Malfoy immediately burst into laughter: "Did you see that idiot Longbottom's expression? He almost wet his pants!"
Harley glared angrily at Malfoy: "Shut up, Malfoy! Neville is already in a lot of pain!"
"Oh? Miss Savior is going to stand up for her new friend?" Malfoy scoffed, suddenly picking something up from the ground. "Look, this is that idiot's memory orb!"
He held aloft a small, transparent sphere, inside which shimmered red smoke.
"That was sent to him by Neville's grandmother!" Harley snapped. "Give it back to him!"
Malfoy's gray eyes gleamed with malice: "Want it? Then come and take it!"
After he finished speaking, he suddenly jumped onto the broom and soared into the air.
Harley picked up the broom without hesitation.
"No!" Hermione cried. "Madame Hodge told us not to move—you'll be fired!"
Harley didn't think much of it. She pushed off with her legs, ready to fly up, when she heard Vera call out from the side, "Harley!"
She paused, then hesitantly turned to look at Vera.
Vera pushed her wheelchair to her side and said in a low voice, "Don't be impulsive."
Malfoy hovered in the air, smugly swinging the memory orb: "What, Potter? Too scared to come up? Or is your crippled friend holding you back?"
Harley's green eyes blazed with fury, and her knuckles turned white as she gripped the broom tightly.
"Leave me alone, Vera!" she shouted at Vera with unprecedented impatience. "I'm going to teach this guy a lesson today!"
Vera looked at Harley's angry green eyes, sighed softly, and whispered, "Then be careful."
Harley paused for a moment, then nodded vigorously, pushed off with her legs, and the broom immediately flew into the air.
Malfoy clearly hadn't expected Harley to actually dare to chase after him. He quickly turned his broom around, intending to play a trick on the novice in front of him, but Harley's flying talent was already on full display at that moment—
Her broom streaked across the sky like lightning, catching up in the blink of an eye.
Malfoy narrowly avoided her, his face turning pale: "Are you crazy? You'll be fired!"
"Take care of yourself first!" Harley suddenly rose up and approached Mata from below, forcing him to back down with a beautiful sweep of her tail.
The two chased and circled in the air, eliciting gasps of surprise from the students on the ground.
Hermione covered her mouth, her face deathly pale: "It's over, it's really over..."
Vera, however, tilted her head back, her gaze fixed on the two people in the air.
This aggressive pursuit is quite different from how Harley usually acts.
Thinking back to the last time she asked Harley if she was good at fighting, Harley's obviously guilty look...
Vera narrowed her eyes thoughtfully.
Chapter Thirty-Two: The Seeker (Ninth Update)
The chase in mid-air continued, and Malfoy was clearly frightened by Harley's flying skills.
He frantically tried to shake off Harley, but she was like a leech, following him every turn and dive.
"All you can do is run away, Malfoy?" Harley mocked, smoothly sliding to the side and cutting off Malfoy's escape route.
Malfoy's face turned ashen. His gaze swept over Vera, who was sitting calmly in her wheelchair watching them, and a malicious smile suddenly appeared on his face: "Since you want this piece of junk so badly—then catch it!"
He tossed the memory ball high into the air and hurled it towards Vera's location!
"No!" Harley's expression changed, and she let out a terrified scream, immediately turning her broom around and diving towards the ground.
Vera looked up at the memory orb flying towards her, her pupils contracting slightly, and the magic circuits on her fingertips gripping her wand instinctively glowed faintly.
However, instead of dodging or using magic to intercept her, she forced herself to calm down and looked up directly at the girl who was rushing towards her.
Harley swooped down at incredible speed, her messy hair whipping wildly in the wind, her green eyes filled with terror.
She swooped down almost recklessly, and just before the memory ball was about to hit Vera, she suddenly reached out and firmly grasped it in her palm. At the same time, the broom beneath her came to an abrupt stop, barely coming to a halt in front of Vera.
"Are you alright?" Harley jumped off the broom, gripping Vera's shoulders tightly with both hands, her voice trembling slightly from the lingering fear. "That bastard actually... I almost thought I was going to miss my chance."
Vera shook her head gently, her gaze falling on the hand tightly gripping the memory orb: "I'm fine, Harley, you made it in time."
Harley finally released Vera's shoulder, her hand gripping the memory orb trembling slightly, a blush slowly creeping onto her cheeks: "I... I just..."
"Harley!" Hermione rushed over in a panic. "Are you crazy?! You might break your neck!"
"I won't!" Harley held up the memory orb in her hand, turned to look at Malfoy in the sky, and shouted, "See? Malfoy, your tricks aren't working at all!"
Malfoy landed on the ground, his face ashen, his gray eyes flashing with anger and resentment: "You just wait, Potter!"
He had barely finished speaking when a stern, angry voice came from the direction of the castle: "Harley Potter!"
The group of people who were still talking were startled and turned around to see Professor McGonagall walking quickly toward them with an unprecedentedly serious expression.
Hermione gasped, while Harley's face turned pale instantly, and she began to tremble.
Vera gently grasped Harley's wrist: "Don't be afraid, everyone saw what happened."
Professor McGonagall walked up to them, her eyes behind her glasses flashing with anger: "In all my years at Hogwarts, I've never seen anyone like you... How dare you—"
Harley bit her lip, a hint of unease flashing in her green eyes.
"It's not her fault, Professor!" Hermione exclaimed urgently, trying to step forward and defend her.
"No need to say more, Miss Granger."
Professor McGonagall's gaze swept over everyone, finally settling on Harry: "Miss Potter, come with me. The rest of you continue with the lesson—afterwards under Mrs. Hodge's supervision."
Harley lowered her head, handed the memory orb to Vera, and then followed Professor McGonagall away with her head down.
Hermione wanted to go forward, but Vera gently pulled her wrist: "It's no use going now. Professor McGonagall will make a fair judgment."
What's more, she knew what was going to happen next—Harley would be recommended by Professor McGonagall to become the Seeker for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, and the youngest Seeker in history.
While she was still comforting Hermione, Malfoy, who had not been punished at all, walked over triumphantly: "Looks like our savior is finally going to be fired. This time, no one will protect you, Vera."
Vera gave him a cold glance, her wand twirling slightly between her fingers: "Oh? So you think your wand was knocked away earlier only because someone was protecting me, is that right?"
Malfoy's face instantly turned ugly. He instinctively took a step back, his hand reaching for his wand inside his robes: "You—you don't think I'm afraid of you! There are still so many people here!"
He turned to look at his Slytherin companions, only to find that only Crabbe and Goyle were able to stand behind him with some semblance of strength, while the other Slytherins watched the conflict with an air of indifference.
Vera was not surprised at all by this result.
Regardless of the inherently risk-averse nature of most Slytherins, the Black family holds a very high position among pure-bloods, comparable to the Malfoy family, just considering Vera herself.
Even though Vera was sorted into Gryffindor, many Slytherin students still wanted to befriend her.
She gently pushed the wheelchair closer to Malfoy: "Really? Then why don't we find a secluded spot and have a proper talk?"
Malfoy's face turned from white to ashen, and he finally gritted his teeth and said, "Madmen! Your whole family are madmen!"
After saying that, he turned and walked away quickly, with Crabbe and Goyle following closely behind.
Hermione breathed a sigh of relief as she watched Malfoy's disheveled figure disappear, but then became worried again: "Harley isn't really going to get fired, is she?"
Vera gently shook her head: "Don't worry, she'll be fine."
Of course, even if Harley really violated school rules, could Hogwarts actually expel her?
After that, who will deal with Voldemort?
She pushed her wheelchair to the edge of the lawn, looked up in the direction of the castle, and seemed lost in thought.
Although the process went slightly wrong, Professor McGonagall still discovered Harley's talent for flying.
The rest of the story is obvious.
Sure enough, at dinner time that day, Harley rushed into the auditorium, her face beaming with undisguised excitement.
