Stupid Odin
#248 - Still fell into the trap
From his seat upon the highest throne in Asgard's Silver Palace, Tangs chuckled softly, a sound unheard before.
Such a vast world, once accelerated, is difficult to steer around.
Forget a world floating in the cosmos; even a fifty-thousand-ton behemoth discovering it's about to collide with an aircraft carrier can't simply turn on a dime.
The feeling of watching enemies, self-assured in their cleverness, step right into a trap is simply too wonderful.
As the roots of the World Tree suddenly extended from the world barrier, rapidly plunging towards the enemy, the opposing world decelerated in fright, and the Silver Palace erupted in deafening laughter.
"Hahahaha!"
"Stunned, are you? Idiots! You've fallen for our Majesty's scheme!"
"Clean yourselves up and wait for death! Aztec fools!"
The enemy falling into their trap brought about a considerable morale boost for their side.
The gods' relaxed and joyful expressions reminded Tangs of a story from this life, twisted though it was—Thor's hammer stolen by the giant Thrym, who then, in a moment of madness, demanded Freyja as his bride. Hela helped Thor by disguising him as Freyja, and with her ghostly appearance, scared the old lecher Thrym witless.
This story is quite fitting for this moment.
Imagine, the Aztec gods felt that Jormungandr was like a beauty cornered in an alley, only to realize, after dropping their pants and rushing forward, that this beauty was a female ghost, or perhaps Thor with a bushy beard in disguise...
How wonderful!
Sure enough, the opposition was stunned.
"Rumble, rumble, rumble!"
Whether it was Quetzalcoatl or the hundreds of thousands of Aztec warriors, in their hearts, this was originally a slaughter without any suspense. All they had to do was breach the opposing world's barrier, rush in, and connect their continents, then begin a great massacre.
Who knew that what they would see were towering green roots easily piercing the Aztec world's soap bubble-like barrier, preemptively crashing into their world?
Accompanied by bursts of earth-shattering roars, the wild plant roots plunged straight into the dense Aztec land.
Faced with such a crude insertion, the earth seemed to emit continuous roars akin to piercing screams.
The ground trembled violently. After a moment, the entire land was covered in spider web-like cracks.
The roots not only penetrated deep into the earth, but they also swept back and forth across the vast land like rags.
The rugged Aztec land was instantly torn apart, but those hateful roots were like plows, repeatedly raking across the land.
Swept by these roots, each easily ten kilometers long, the Aztec people's buildings were reduced to dust.
Man-made bricks and stones were swept away, scattered, and then casually pressed into the ground by the roots. If one didn't look carefully, they would even think that there was originally nothing here, only a layer of flat, thin soil.
This was truly the first time they had seen a world centered around a giant tree.
First encounter, instant slaughter!
"No! How can you do this to my world?" A large serpent the size of an aircraft carrier flapped its huge, colorful wings and flew into the sky.
It was Quetzalcoatl!
Clearly, it was getting desperate.
It actually disregarded everything and launched an attack on the roots!
It opened its colorful wings, stirring up gales capable of destroying a city, mixed with torrential rain, and swept towards the roots of the World Tree.
Frankly speaking, its divine might was not weak.
Tangs glanced at it and knew that each raindrop it shot was as powerful as a bolt from a large ballista.
If humans were to suffer such an attack, their bodies would be torn into pieces in minutes.
Unfortunately, this was completely insufficient for the World Tree's roots.
The World Tree was the embodiment of the Jormungandr world.
This Jormungandr itself was twice as large as in the myths. In addition, it had perfectly absorbed the Celtic and Sumerian worlds one after another, and also taken the earth element from the Slavic world.
Supported by such a super-enhanced world origin, the World Tree also allowed the forest god Vidar to synchronize his spirit and micromanage some of the roots.
This kind of power was simply not something a small Quetzalcoatl could resist.
The once mighty and majestic Quetzalcoatl, in Tangs' eyes, was no different from the ten fierce beasts of Jormungandr that he had killed in the past. It looked like it could jump around a lot, but it wouldn't be able to jump for long.
The Aztec world was also ruthless enough. Knowing that it had encountered an ambush, it still crashed forward with unwavering momentum, regardless of the consequences.
However, because it had experienced deceleration, this collision lacked force. With thousands of World Tree roots entangling it as a buffer, this didn't feel like a collision, but rather a docking.
Without hesitation, the other Aztec gods, seeing the world docking successfully, hurriedly abandoned the roots and charged towards the Jormungandr world.
They certainly knew that tangling with these roots was meaningless, tantamount to using their limited divine power to compete with the origin of a vast world.
It wouldn't take a few rounds for them to be annihilated.
Only by trying their best to destroy the opposing world's central hub could this battle be fought.
Lightning flashed, thunder roared, and various divine lights pierced the sky.
The Aztec gods' flight paths were so clear, as if they would never be scattered by the winds in the sky.
The trails of the gods and their servants streaked across the sky from south to north, the dazzling afterglows imprinted in the eyes of the remaining Aztec mortal warriors.
These glittering lights gave the mortal warriors new courage.
That's right! Our gods haven't lost yet!
And the deaths of us mortals are merely necessary sacrifices in the Flowery War.
The Aztecs were such a morbid people.
For the Aztec gods and mortals, the Sun was the most important existence. They believed that the world had been created four times and destroyed four times. Each time it was created, a new sun would be born to illuminate the whole world. In order to keep the sun shining on mankind, the custom of regularly sacrificing human blood and hearts to the sun arose.
In order to continuously replenish the sacrificial offerings, the Aztecs had to constantly wage war to obtain captives as offerings in the ceremonies. For this reason, when no external enemies could be found, wars often broke out between cities, which was the origin of the Flowery War.
Once they had obtained the required number of captives, they would begin to negotiate a truce.
Conversely, before they had obtained enough captives, they, from mortals to gods, were the most fanatical warriors.
Unfortunately, this time they ran into an unconventional iron wall.
Led by Quetzalcoatl, one Aztec god after another, with their subordinates, broke through the world barrier and charged into the opposing world barrier.
They seemed like small suns rising, lighting up the Jormungandr world barrier and dyeing it with mottled colors.
Then, they felt themselves crashing into the mouth of an octopus.
