The next second, the grappling hook launched both of them into the air. Bullets whizzed past their feet, and Wang Baixi's hair was whipped into a mess by the blast of air. He could even feel a bullet grazing the back of his head.

Batman retracted his grappling hook, wrapped the two men in his cape, and used the momentum to smash through the glass railing of the top-floor platform. The two men tumbled together and landed on the concrete floor of the power plant's rooftop.

Batman adjusted his angle in mid-air, quickly retracted his grappling hook, wrapped the two people in his cape, and used the momentum to smash through the glass railing of the rooftop.

The moment the two rolled and landed, Batman released Wang Baixi, moving him away from the battlefield. At the same time, he used the momentum from the roll to stand up, blocking the corner with his position. While protecting Wang Baixi, he swung his fist at several gunmen who hadn't reacted yet.

He first punched the nearest gunman in the chin with his left hand, and then used his right elbow to knock down another gunman who was trying to fire from the side.

The whole process was handled exceptionally quickly; the two gunmen were already lying on the ground unconscious.

Seeing this, the other gunmen stopped shooting at Robin and Cassandra below and instead poured all their bullets on Batman.

A barrage of gunfire pursued Batman, but he kept his center of gravity low and sprinted along the edge of the rooftop, creating a moving black barrier behind him with his cape to draw most of the fire.

Beneath his cloak, his hand had already reached for the batarangs, and then several batarangs flew out of his hand like afterimages, hitting several people in succession.

Wang Baixi, standing to the side, steadied himself by holding onto the ventilation pipe at the edge of the rooftop. "Looks like you don't need my help, Bat."

As a result, a flippant voice came from the other side of the rooftop.

"Hey buddy," Little Bird said, standing on the edge of the rooftop helipad in front of a submachine gun. "Your opponent is me."

No, so you specifically target unarmed people, right?

With a sly smile and his hand on the trigger, the little bird answered him directly: Yes!

But who said he didn't carry any lethal weapons?

Wang Baixi reached into the inside pocket of his tactical vest and pulled out a tiny pistol, no bigger than the palm of his hand, its dark muzzle pointed directly at Xiao Niao's shoulder.

"Where did you get this gun?" Batman was worried about Wang Baixi's safety, but when he turned around, he found that the guy didn't have any smoke grenades or flashbangs.

“It’s from the Scarface puppet,” Wang Baixi said dismissively. “Don’t worry, this caliber won’t kill anyone; at most, it can cause ‘acute heavy metal poisoning’.”

Batman looked at him in surprise, clearly not understanding the meaning of the joke.

Wang Baixi let out a helpless sigh.

He never makes those cheesy jokes again; nobody understands his humor, and everyone thinks he's an idiot.

Then, he held up one finger.

Before you shoot someone, you need to freeze in place so that you can aim more easily.

The dark purple beam of light pierced right through the bird's chest, freezing him in place for a good five or six seconds.

Taking advantage of the moment, Wang Baixi pulled the trigger. The bullet traveled in a straight line and entered Xiao Niao's right shoulder socket. Blood splattered from the other's leather jacket. But just as Wang Baixi was about to fire a second shot, Xiao Niao staggered back a step.

He glanced down at the bullet hole in his shoulder and immediately realized that the other party possessed some kind of supernatural power. He hurriedly shouted, "Quick, point the gun at that guy!"

It was too late, and the only one with the leisure to look at him was Batman, who was slightly out of breath, holding a dismantled machine gun in his hand.

Wang Baixi's second shot came "whoosh" in, but this time Xiao Niao was quick-witted. He immediately dodged two steps, dropped the submachine gun, pulled a remote control from his waist, and frantically slid his thumb across the touchpad.

"Hurry, hurry, hurry!"

Suddenly, a dense buzzing sound rang out all around the rooftop. Eight drones equipped with miniature machine guns rose from various parts of the building's exterior wall and hovered above the rooftop platform, forming a dark semicircle.

"Your Majesty, be careful."

Although Batman had issued a warning, the saying "when disaster strikes, everyone flies away" held true. The miniature machine gun fired faster than they expected, and bullets clanged and clattered against the metal casing of the exhaust pipe, sparks raining down, even more fiercely than before.

Wang Baixi had no time to dodge, so he had to hide behind the exhaust pipe. But before he knew it, a bullet hit him squarely in the chest. His eyes snapped shut, and he fell straight to the ground.

"No!" Batman shouted.

"Don't worry, Batman, you'll see each other soon."

All the drones turned towards Batman. Batman dodged and weaved to create distance between himself and the drone swarm, throwing a batarang in retaliation. However, he couldn't free his hands to attack the bird directly, because the drone swarm could actually defend itself.

Behind the wall of buzzing sound, the bird grinned at Batman and flipped the remote control over, revealing the detonator switch on the back.

He was no longer in the mood to play with them.

But a flying shadow arrived there before his hand. In an instant, the detonator he had just held in his hand was knocked away by a batarang that came from nowhere. He turned his head slightly, only to find that he couldn't twist his neck at all.

Has he been frozen in place again?

Impossible, absolutely impossible!

The next second, a hand slowly rose from the ground.

"Damn! This skill actually works!"

Wang Baixi, who was lying on the ground, withdrew the finger that was pointing at the little bird's leg. He coughed as he sat up. Incredibly, the blood hole in his chest was slowly healing.

It's all thanks to the "Life Regression" program.

Clearly, he had just cast a spell.

He even threw that batarang!

“How could you…” Batman stared at him in astonishment.

"How come I have a batarang? Please, I'm Batman #002, for goodness sake." Wang Baixi sighed.

"That's not what I meant!" Batman charged forward, violently throwing several drones blocking his path to the ground. Within moments, he was in front of the bird and punched it in the temple.

The little bird had just realized that its limp legs could move when it was knocked to the ground.

Wang Baixi, hands on his hips, leisurely walked to the fallen bird.

"Was this guy trying to take us all down with him? Does he have a death wish?"

“Unless he knows he won’t die.” Batman gasped for breath, swallowing his doubts for the moment. “What does that mean?”

The two of them looked up at each other at the same time.

"He has amber gold in his body."

Chapter Forty-Seven: The Battle Between Grandfather and Grandson

Dick Grayson had only a vague understanding of how amber gold could grant immortality.

But he had heard from one of the Claws that for the amber gold to fully integrate into your body, it must be allowed to seep into your bloodstream little by little. But immortality comes at a price; every Claw has a common weakness: low temperatures.

He believed his "senior's" words without a doubt, because he and his opponent were engaged in a fierce and exhilarating battle.

It was only a little past one in the afternoon, but the corridor of the city hall was already dark and gloomy, and the staff responsible for turning on the lights had long since disappeared.

Mayor Amanda Carroll and another senior municipal official huddled in a corner, completely bewildered by what had happened.

Dick knelt before them, his uniform torn in several places, blood trickling down the side of his nose.

“Not bad, Richard. It’s a pity you stopped the other claws, but you couldn’t stop me.”

Standing before him was William Cobb, the assassin and claw of the Court of Owls, the mastermind behind the shards of glass and the massacre at the City Hall.

He was also his great-grandfather.

Dick suppressed the thought.

Now concentrate.

“Mayor Carroll, answer me.” Dick held his short baton horizontally in front of him, glanced at the surroundings outside the window. He had struggled for a long time to finally get here. “Is there a secret room in the city hall? You need to ensure your own safety. The citizens of Gotham need you.”

Mayor Carroll and his colleagues trembled with fear. They exchanged glances before Carroll roared, "Fourth floor! There's a warehouse on the fourth floor!"

“Then go to that warehouse,” Dick said in a commanding tone, “and lock yourself inside. No matter who knocks, don’t open the door.”

The two high-ranking officials practically tumbled and crawled away into the stairwell at the end of the corridor. Suddenly, Dick turned and lunged at William with open arms.

He had no weapons, nor did he need tactics; he simply used the momentum of his body to smash himself and William together through the glass curtain wall behind him.

"Come on, William, let's fight to the death."

The two people fell together, enveloped in countless shards of glass.

In the instant of his fall, Dick saw countless phantoms of himself, each face reflected on the shattered glass, only to vanish into nothingness.

Because he fell to the ground.

When his body hit the ground hard, Dick felt as if his lungs had been stepped on, and even his muffled groans became extremely short.

On the other side, William Cobb stood up as if nothing had happened. He walked slowly toward the fallen Dick, his steps neither fast nor slow.

"You think you can break my bones with this? What did I tell you? Did you really think I was just joking? Just when I thought you were at your wit's end, you always managed to surprise me." William Cobb sneered, grabbing his dagger and lunging at Dick.

Dick struggled to his feet and quickly used his stick to block William's short blade. The two jumped up and began to fight, but Dick was forced back a full body length in mid-air.

The alloy surface of the short stick in his hand was slashed several times by the other's blade. Before he could take a step with William Cobra, William reversed his grip on the other short blade and slashed across Dick's collarbone.

A drop of blood spurted from the tip of the knife William gripped tightly, and was flicked into the air.

"Richard, I don't understand."

William Cobb regained his footing in mid-air, the blade tearing open another wound just past Dick's chest.

"Why did you defy me? Why did you betray the family tradition? You could have transcended life and death like me. I would have broken your bones and drained your blood. Look at your face, it's full of defeat!"

Dick didn't answer him because his mouth was full of blood and foam.

However, the grandfather and grandson were filled with hatred upon meeting. William Cobb showed no mercy to his junior. After landing, he quickly lunged forward, not caring whether Dick's mouth was full of blood. Dick tried to block with his stick again, but William Cobb forced him to kneel down.

"When Batman was training you, did it hurt? How did you feel when he treated you as a substitute and trampled on your self-esteem?"

“You’ve been watching us all this time?” Dick forcefully deflected William’s blade and rolled backward to avoid William Cobb’s attack.

“The court has been watching every single one of you, watching you bunch of lunatics in outlandish costumes,” William Cobb sneered. “You think what you’re doing will make Gotham a better place? No, it won’t. You’re just a second-rate Batman clone, and he’s gone. Do you want to take his place and die?”
