"Shut up."

Dick launched another attack.

His speed was not reduced by the injury, but his vision had begun to blur.

The two continued their close-quarters combat, each collision creating a loud bang in the air above the street. However, Dick knew very well that even at his peak, he might not be able to defeat this monster who had lived for over a hundred years.

Will it win?

No, we will win.

Everything is still within his predictions.

The feeling of exhaustion came a few beats earlier than expected, and the final high kick seemed to have been in vain, as William Cobb took the opportunity to press down on his knee.

"A trivial skill!"

Dick was slammed to the ground. The wound on his back made him bounce up and then stiffen. The short stick rolled out from between his loose fingers and hit a fire hydrant not far away.

William grabbed Dick's arm and dragged him toward the entrance to an underground pipeline.

They wanted to go deeper underground; they wanted to return to the courtroom, that was where they belonged.

"Have you used all your skills, Richard? Look at you, you chose a mortal body! What will you have left in a hundred years? What will you have left in five hundred years?"

After Dick was dragged into the underground pipeline tunnel, William spread his arms apart and used two throwing knives to pierce his tactical gloves and his palms.

"Uh..."

"Pain is normal."

He was eventually nailed to a cement wall by his own ancestors.

"Do you realize how precious your destiny is that you have betrayed?"

"From the moment you were born, the court has been watching you. You should have stayed in the circus until the day we came for you. Every step you took should have been on the path paved by the court!"

"But you chose to do these meaningless jobs, to be the second Bruce Wayne."

“Kid, Gotham has always been a city of owls, a city of claws, a city of birds. Without us, this city will never get better.”

William leaned down as he spoke, his mask almost touching Dick's forehead.

“But Richard, I’m still willing to give you another chance. I believe that if you see the error of your ways, you will become the best bird among us, and that is the destiny you should accept!”

Dick's hands, pinned to the wall, suddenly clenched into fists. He frowned and looked intently at William with difficulty.

“You’re wrong, William. Gotham is not static.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he used all his strength to tear his hands off the throwing knives in front of William Cobb, completely disregarding how horrifying the blood on his hands was.

“Take this subway pipeline as an example: After the city’s power grid was upgraded, they needed to replace the old copper core wires with insulated cables, so… that’s why they laid liquid nitrogen all over it.”

His hands finally broke free from the wall, and his bloodied hands turned around to remove the throwing knife that had pinned him down. Then he threw it at the liquid nitrogen pipe above their heads!

At that moment, William Cobb's eyes widened, and he couldn't help but look up.

"That's why I brought you here. By the way, thank you for telling me about the weaknesses of the Claws, but besides that, you've forgotten another weakness of yours: arrogance."

High-pressure liquid nitrogen immediately gushed out from the break, and the blizzard-like white fluid instantly flooded the entire space.

"No!"

William Cobb's torso froze instantly upon contact with the torrent of liquid nitrogen, and Dick coughed violently in the icy mist, bending over once more, but he gritted his teeth and stood up.

“You cannot escape your predetermined fate, Richard.” William’s voice was so stiff that the syllables were almost inaudible, but he still managed to utter the words with his last bit of strength.

Dick sneered, ripped off William Cobb's hood, and hoisted him onto his shoulder.

The kind of fate he's talking about simply doesn't exist.

Chapter 48: Batman in a Challenge Version

Inside the bat cave, the little bird was bound hand and foot to the operating table, its beak even sealed shut, yet it still swayed its body, looking at the pet falcon in its cage not far away, echoing its voice across the distance.

Bruce Wayne was still wearing the bat suit that made urination and defecation difficult, but the hood had been removed. He sat at the main control console, holding a vial of blood that had just been drawn from a bird's vein.

The bottle of amber gold sample that the Angel of Death brought back from Wayne Corporation's old town laboratory was inserted into the analysis tank next to him, the green indicator light flickering like a time bomb counting down.

While the program is running, they are doing another important task.

On the main screen, several video clips are playing on a loop.

Wang Baixi stood to the side and behind Bruce, watching with everyone the photos of Bane taken by Gotham citizens from various angles over the past few days.

In some scenes, he walks among the shipping containers at the dock, followed by a whole squad of fully armed mercenaries; in other scenes, he grabs the bumper of a police car with one hand and flips the entire car over in the middle of the road.

There is also a particularly clear aerial shot of Bane standing in front of the breach in the outer wall of Arkham Asylum, his arms outstretched, like a king who has just completed his coronation.

Bruce watched the video absentmindedly, then focused his attention on the analysis system, placing the blood sample analysis results and the amber gold sample data side by side.

The degree of matching between the two molecular chains jumps on the screen as a percentage.

"What does this mean?" Wang Baixi asked, not ashamed to ask.

"This means that the amber gold in the bird's body and the amber gold we extracted are the same substance. However, the amber gold in the bird's body is unevenly distributed, mainly concentrated in the bones and deep muscle tissue, and has not yet fully penetrated into the organs. In other words, he was injected not long ago, probably within the last day or two."

"So the little bird also became a living dead?" Wang Baixi asked.

He didn't detect any "aura of the dead".

“Completely different,” Bruce sighed. “If you hadn’t crushed those claws, it might have been easier for us to conduct our research and analysis.”

Wang Baixi waved his hand, "We just took them to where they were supposed to go."

Bruce ignored him and glanced at Bane, who was baring his teeth and claws on the screen. "The problem now is Bane. He should have also been injected with Amber Gold, which means he must be stronger than before."

Behind them, Tim Drake, engrossed in his laptop, nodded and said, "Judging from the motion data captured in the publicly available footage, Bane's Venom increased his muscle strength by at least 30%, and the increase in total muscle mass allows him to lift more than a ton. However, his joints and bones are still human structures, and every exertion puts a huge burden on his body. If he had Amber Gold, his body could heal very quickly, which would be like adding wings to a tiger for him."

"Is there any way to separate the amber gold from his body?" the Angel of Death asked.

“Unless we can also get Bain to lie on the operating table calmly while we draw his blood,” Tim said with a wry smile.

Bruce turned his chair around and looked at Wang Baixi, his gaze falling on his chest. The tactical vest still had bullet holes in it, but the skin underneath was intact.

"Wang, the little bird shot you in the heart with a drone. I saw you fall and then get up again: your wound healed in seconds. That healing speed was even faster than a claw: do you also have a substance similar to amber gold in your body?"

Wang Baixi had a bit of a headache.

What a suspicious fellow!

“It’s not amber gold, that’s my magic,” Wang Baixi replied calmly. “It’s an ability that allows me to revert to my previous state after suffering a fatal wound. The specific principle is quite complicated.”

"This is very rare."

“For ordinary people, that’s true. But it might not be the case for you.” Wang Baixi smiled and crossed his arms over his chest. “You know Lei Xiaogu, right? The leader of the Assassin’s Guild, the owner of the Pool of Lazarus. He’s much stronger than me.”

After thinking it over, Bruce finally nodded slowly.

He makes a good point.

"Then can you teach me this spell?" He looked at Wang Baixi sincerely.

"Hey, aren't you supposed to be an ordinary hero? This isn't like you at all!"

"Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures..."

“Batman!” Tim interrupted their conversation. “I’ve retrieved all the architectural drawings and security layouts for Cavaliers Stadium over the past five years. The stadium itself is an open structure, with the football field in the center and stands on all four sides that can hold 65,000 people. Bain chose this location not because it was secluded, but quite the opposite, because it was conspicuous enough. It seems he has absolute confidence.”

Bruce Wayne stopped arguing with Wang Baixi and walked over to Tim, quickly issuing instructions.

"Tim, you and Cassandra will enter from the west side of the stands. I will give you the specific floor coordinates."

"Notify Barbara again that I need real-time access to all traffic cameras around Cavaliers Sports, including security cameras on private properties, and I can't miss any corner."

"Jan, your task is to hold the perimeter of the stadium. If Bain sends reinforcements, you have to stop them before they rush onto the field..."

Wang Baixi listened silently to Bruce's instructions, thinking to himself:

This is the strongest form of Batman, the Challenger version of Batman!

Just as he was about to ask about his role, footsteps sounded from the entrance of the Batcave.

[Aura of a high-ranking undead detected!]

[Experience points +100!]

"Hmm, what happened this time?"

Before Wang Baixi could even ask a question, Batman turned around with lightning speed and saw a young man covered in blood carrying a person covered in ice as they walked heavily down the steps connecting the manor and the Batcave.

It was none other than Dick Grayson.

He quickened his pace and threw William Cobb, who was on his shoulder, to the ground. Although William Cobb had turned into an old popsicle, Dick himself was in no better shape. The wounds on his palms from the throwing knives were temporarily wrapped with tactical bandages, but the bandages were soaked with blood, and drops of blood dripped from his fingertips with every step he took.

Dick saw Bruce standing in front of the control panel, wearing the complete Batman suit, turning his head to look at him.

"Bruce, welcome back."

He gave an extremely ugly smile, now covered in blood, looking like a teenager who had just come home from a fight only to find his dad had left work early.

“Dick,” Bruce wanted to ask about Dick’s injuries, but when he saw William Cobb on the ground, he changed the subject, “Is this your great-grandfather?”

“Yes, how did you guess that so quickly?” Dick frowned.

“Tim told me about you, and his face looks a lot like yours.” Bruce stepped forward and patted Dick’s shoulder lightly, avoiding the wound on his collarbone. “I’m sorry, Dick.”

“It’s okay, Bruce. I’m fine.” Dick grinned, his smile carefree.

Bruce's gaze swept over Dick's wounds again, but he swallowed back the question, "Are you badly hurt?"

"Are you alone? Did Alfred bring you back?"

How could he have come back alone with such heavy loads and such serious injuries?

While the two were talking, Tim and the Angel of Death had already lifted William Cobb off the ground and carried him into the cryogenic containment chamber at the back.

Dick wiped the scabs from under his nose and smiled at Bruce, saying, "I know you really want to see Alfred, but he's still cleaning up your messes at the company, so it wasn't him who brought me back."

Bruce was slightly taken aback. "Who is that?"

"it's me."
