“Wang Baixi?” Her gaze fixed on the penguin brooch. “Is it really you? I thought Mr. Freeze killed you?”

Batman narrowed his eyes, glanced at the Penguin gang members who were automatically walking into the cargo terminal, and after a long while, he managed to utter a sentence: "Is this magic?"

Obviously not.

"Don't rush, calm down first." Wang Baixi completely ignored the problem.

What are your plans?

“I don’t sense any dead bodies here, Batman. There’s no need to cause a bloodbath. Now, I’ll handle the rhetoric, you handle the brawl.” Wang Baixi stopped Batman’s hand from reaching for his batarang and then said to Lark:

"Lak, are you deaf? I order you to put down your guns and have all your men retreat into the freight station, or this guy next to me will use force!"

"But the Kamen Rider Company..."

"Leave it to me."

Lark squinted, thought for a long time, and finally made up his mind. He shouted to the gang behind him, "Put down your guns and retreat into the freight station!"

It's better to avoid a direct confrontation with Batman; he's already done his part as a hero. As for Wang Baixi, I owe him a favor.

The dozen or so gang members looked at each other, then happily obeyed the order. At that moment, one gun after another went down.

Led by Lark, the Penguin Gang members slowly retreated into the freight station.

The neglected tattooed man angrily shouted at Batman, "This is really strange! Batman teaming up with gangsters? Are you an imposter?"

"Who's in charge of detonating it?" Batman ignored him.

Do you think I'd tell you?

boom!

A smoke grenade was thrown from Batman's hand to the ground, and the smoke instantly engulfed the open space in front of the freight station.

Tattoo and his men were coughing violently from the smoke, and several quick-thinking ones had already raised their guns and fired wildly, but Batman himself was no longer in the same spot.

He leaped lightly from the roof of the Batmobile, his cape billowing in the air to block out the midday sun. He landed behind the tattooed man, and with a gentle push of his elbow, struck him on the back of the neck.

Tattoo staggered forward two steps but didn't fall. He picked up the steel pipe again and swung it straight at Batman's head. Batman grabbed the sweeping steel pipe with one hand and pressed it down hard, using the force to jump into the air and deliver a knee strike to Tattoo's chin.

This guy is indeed good at fighting, but that's all he is.

Tattooed man let out a muffled groan, then released the steel pipe and fell backward.

"I'll ask you one more time, where are your people responsible for detonating it?"

The tattooed man forced a sinister laugh, "I won't tell..."

Before he could finish speaking, Batman lunged forward and punched the tattooed man in the chin, knocking him unconscious. Batman then glanced back at Wang Baixi: "Are you alright?"

"So my judgment was more accurate than yours, huh?" Wang Baixi strolled over casually, completely ignoring the horrified looks on the others' faces. "The person isn't dead, but what are you planning to do now?"

"Of course, we should beat them all to a pulp."

Batman turned around and faced the remaining twenty-odd members of the Masked Society. Those whose eyes fell on him unconsciously took a half step back.

"Your only option now is to lay down your weapons and tell me where the detonator is."

The members of the Masked Company looked at each other in dismay. Tattoo lay unconscious on the ground, and the muzzles of their guns began to sway erratically. Several of them had already lowered their gun barrels to the ground.

Forget it, let's make peace for now. Who knows when Batman might suddenly show up?

However, at that moment, a sharp, maniacal laugh suddenly erupted from behind the crowd.

"Hahahaha! You bunch of cowards! A few handcuffs and you're all scared like this!"

A young man, as thin as a bamboo pole, squeezed out of the crowd. He suddenly took off his mask, revealing deeply sunken eye sockets and pupils that had shrunk to the size of two pinpoints.

This guy clearly took a lot of drugs before the operation.

His left hand held a modified radio detonator high, while his right hand gripped a bundle of explosive tubes taped to his body.

"See that? I just need to press this button, and the Westward Bridge will turn into a pile of steel bars and concrete! You'll all go up to the sky with me!"

The people at the Mask Company were immediately in an uproar.

"Damn it, Karl, you're insane!"

"Who the hell gave him the detonator?!"

"Has this bastard really been brainwashed by Black Mask?"

No way, how come there are actually people willing to risk their lives for Black Mask?

Ignoring his companion's curses, the young man swung the detonator backward until his back was against the concrete pier of the bridge approach.

"Listen up, all of you! I don't care about anyone except Black Mask, you're all going to die!" He frantically rubbed the red button on the detonator with his thumb.

Batman shifted back slightly, half an inch, ready to pounce at any moment.

At this moment, Wang Baixi took two steps forward, took out the skull mask from his pocket, and slowly put it on his face, lowering his voice to the hoarse tone of the black mask.

"Karl, put the detonator down."

The young man named Carl was stunned for a moment, "Boss? You weren't...?"

"Captured by Batman? You think he can hold me? Look at my face, I am Black Mask himself!"

Carl was seeing stars, his mind already foggy. "But Bain said..."

"Are you with the Masked Company or with Bane? Are you loyal to me or to him? He will only sacrifice you. As for me? I will fight for the greatest possible leniency for you. I have already reached a deal with Batman; as long as you put down your guns, everyone can go home and sleep."

As soon as Wang Baixi finished speaking, a series of urgent sirens sounded at the entrance of the freight station, followed by the sound of running.

Tim and Cassandra jumped off a police motorcycle that had just come to a stop. Tim glanced at the scene and immediately understood what was going on. He didn't draw his weapon, but stood next to Batman and raised his voice, saying:

"Everyone, you'd better listen to him. If you wait for the police to surround this place, that'll be a different story."

Karl's hands began to tremble violently.

His drug-fueled brain was oscillating between two completely opposite impulses.

"You...you really are Black Mask?"

Wang Baixi had no intention of answering this utterly unhelpful question. Instead, he walked straight up to Karl, took Karl's wrist—the one holding the detonator—with his gloved hand, and slowly pressed it down.

“Of course,” he replied now.

Carl's trembling finally stopped. He loosened his grip, and the detonator slipped from his palm. Batman caught it before it hit the ground.

The twenty-odd members of the Masked Company around them immediately surrendered.

"Robin, go defuse the bomb!" Batman said without hesitation.

"Yes!"

“Don’t worry, the detonator is with us, we won’t press it,” said a member of the Masked Company.

But just then, a sharp buzzing sound suddenly came from above their heads.

The sound came from afar and took less than two seconds to reach them. They looked up and saw three modified hexacopter drones approaching at high speed from the direction of Arkham Island at extremely low altitude.

Each drone had a military-grade plastic explosive attached to its pylon. Before they could react, all three drones simultaneously crashed into the load-bearing steel cables of the Westward Bridge.

With a loud bang, first the steel cable, then the bridge deck and piers.

The steel cables that were blown off the bridge surface were flung into the air like a giant python without bones. The concrete bridge surface quickly cracked in the middle, but soon, the crack spread to both ends at a speed visible to the naked eye.

With just one breach, the entire bridge was completely destroyed and plunged into the water.

Batman stood amidst the swirling concrete debris, looked up, and gazed across the river at Arkham, following the direction the drone had come from.

Meanwhile, on the top floor of the thermal power plant, a group of people were silently watching everything.

"Long time no see, Bat! Were you looking for me?"

It was a sound amplified by a loudspeaker, and although distorted, it felt so familiar.

Batman turned around and said in a deep voice, "Bane."

Chapter Forty-Six: Old friends are gradually resurrected, like bamboo shoots after a spring rain.

Batman's gaze was fixed on the two figures on the top floor of the coal-fired power plant.

"Are you looking for me, bat?"

Bane's voice boomed through the loudspeaker, every word laced with pleasure, as if he were not at all bewildered by Batman's resurrection.

All he knew was that he could break him one more time.

"You know what? When my men were planting explosives in the sewers, they stumbled upon the Killer Croc. I was already surprised enough that it was still alive. I never expected to see you standing right in front of me, full of life. This world is truly full of wonders."

“Oh, right, there’s something I forgot to tell you.” He paused deliberately, as if waiting for applause from the audience, “There are a lot of explosives and hostages planted in the power plant beneath my feet. Do you want to save them first, or kill… no, you never kill people, do you?”

"If you survive, see you at Cavaliers Sports tonight at nine. You'll see me there. Hopefully, you won't lose to me. Bird, make your move."

Then, a helicopter rose from the roof of the power plant, and Bain grabbed the landing gear, his body tracing an arrogant arc in the air before disappearing into the southern horizon.

This is a challenge!

The little bird stood on the edge of the rooftop, took two steps back, and waved to the dozen or so gunmen who were rushing up behind it.

Then, countless dark gun barrels appeared, pointed at the people below.

"Robin, you and Cassandra go in and rescue them."

"how about you?"

Batman glanced back and gave Wang Baixi a meaningful look.

"understand!"

Robin and Cassandra immediately braved the hail of bullets and ran away.

"No, what have you figured out?"

Batman knew that the biggest problem wasn't the gunman, but the distance. The power plant building was neither too far nor too close; if he left Wang Baixi here and charged up himself, the distance between them would become unpredictable.

"Wang, hold on tight to me." He pulled out his grappling hook. "Watch out!"

Before Wang Baixi could think, he immediately wrapped his arms around Batman's waist and hung on his side.
