Boom!Boom!

Ignoring Black Mask's indignation, Batman dragged him into the underground warehouse of the abandoned department store without hesitation.

By then, the gunfire outside had completely subsided.

The warehouse where they were located was originally used to store mannequins. Several rows of faceless plastic torsos were neatly stacked on the shelves. Half of the fluorescent light tubes were broken, making the whole space look like the set of some cheap horror movie.

Now, it has become Batman's interrogation location.

Batman pinned Black Mask to a swivel chair that had been moved from the office, his hands bound behind his back to a metal bar. His eyes, hidden behind the skull mask, held no fear, only anger at being offended.

What is Bain planning to do?

“You know I won’t talk.” The black-masked man tilted his head back. “The mask on my face isn’t just an ornament; it represents something you can’t understand: pain. Real, persistent pain. What do you think you can use to make me talk? Fists? How many times have you hit me? Humph, I won’t submit to your tyranny!”

Don't act like you're some kind of revolutionary martyr!

Batman stood before him, saying nothing.

Black Mask's willpower is among the best in Gotham, and ordinary interrogation methods are indeed ineffective against this master of torture.

To make matters worse, he didn't have time. Bane was laying the groundwork somewhere in the city, and every minute of delay increased the danger to Gotham.

"Hey!"

At that moment, Wang Baixi's voice came from a corner of the warehouse.

"Have either of you seen a cockroach?"

Batman frowned, then suddenly noticed the shriveled corpse of a cockroach lying at his feet, seemingly accidentally stepped on.

"This?" His voice was half a octave lower than usual.

“Didn’t you say you don’t kill living beings?” Wang Baixi walked out from the corner, picked up the cockroach that had been stepped on from the ground in front of the two of them, and lifted it up by the tail. “Next time, could you please not step on it? It’s more useful when it’s alive.”

Black Mask let out a cold laugh, his mockery instinctively rising, "Batman, I didn't expect you to hire an adult as your Robin. Have your sexual preferences changed?"

Wang Baixi ignored him. He walked up to the black-masked man, squatted down, pinched the dead cockroach in his left hand, and pried open the black-masked man's chin with his right hand.

"What the hell are you trying to do?" The voice of the man in the black mask finally changed.

"I'll give you some protein."

When the dead cockroach was stuffed into the black-masked man's mouth, he frantically shook his head, trying to bite Wang Baixi's fingers. But Wang Baixi's movements were surprisingly swift; he used his index and middle fingers to pinch the cockroach and push it in, quickly closing the black-masked man's jaw, while pinching his nose with his other hand.

The cockroach slid down his esophagus, but got stuck in the middle and didn't completely flow into his stomach.

"You're insane, you're a fucking lunatic!" The black-masked body struggled wildly on the swivel chair, the face beneath the mask turning almost the same color as the mask itself.

Wang Baixi stood up, took two steps back, and then placed his right hand on the chest of the black-masked man.

"Don't be nervous, let's try a different approach." Then, he activated [Instant Recovery].

The black-masked man's body tensed up abruptly, and soon the cockroach rolled over inside his esophagus and began scratching around.

"What did you just say?" Wang Baixi brought his face close to the black mask, staring into his eyes through the skull mask. "There's a live cockroach inside you right now, and it's trying to find a way out. Which way do you think it'll go? Up? Or down? If you don't behave, I'll shove the cockroach up your ass. If you think the cockroach is too small, then I'll go find a rat, or something else!"

"Get it out!" The black-masked voice completely lost control. "Get it out!"

Batman took a step forward. "King!"

Even Batman thought Wang Baixi was a bit too perverted. What kind of bizarre method was this? During interrogations, he would at most use physical torture, and rarely use psychological torture.

"No rush, it's not time yet." Wang Baixi raised a hand to stop him, her eyes still fixed on the black mask. "Speak!"

“Bane plans to blow up all of Gotham’s major bridges, including the Splendor Bridge and the Robert Kane Memorial Bridge, to cut Gotham off from the outside world and separate the three districts. The Splendor Bridge crash was just an experiment for him,” Black Mask said agitatedly. “He’s a madman. He lied to us: Batman is not dead at all.”

“Go on.”

"Aren't you curious why it was so easy to catch me? It's because most of my men were sent to transport explosives for Bane!"

Batman's gaze hardened. "Where are your men now?"

"Coventry! Bane says his next move is to completely destroy the Westward Bridge connecting Coventry and Arkham. He wants all of Gotham to see flames!" Black Mask let out a shrill, chilling laugh. "But you're too late. The bombs are already planted. Only I know the exact locations of all the bombs, and only my men have the detonators! You need me, you need me to lead the way! Only my face can command my men!"

"You still have the mood to laugh?" Wang Baixi immediately reached out and grabbed the edge of the skull mask on the black mask, and forcefully lifted it upwards.

The face beneath the mask was fully exposed under the fluorescent lights.

The burn scars stretched from his forehead to his chin, his skin twisted and piled up like a molten candle, and only his eyes could still be barely recognized as belonging to Roman Sinnis.

"Give it back to me!" The black-masked man's voice was even more terrified than when the cockroaches had been stuffed into his throat.

Wang Baixi didn't return it to him. He turned the black mask over, examined the leather lining inside, and even put the mask on his own face.

The size is just right.

“Your face? Why do I feel like this is my face? Right, Batman?” Wang Baixi turned to face Batman.

Batman's response was a straight punch.

Of course, the punch landed on Black Mask's left cheek, knocking him unconscious before he could even scream.

"Alright, stop going too far." Batman withdrew his fist.

"receive."

……

Diamond District, at the entrance of Iceberg Nightclub.

Less than an hour ago, Almond Kernel had completely renovated this place with his fists. The once magnificent marble portico is now half collapsed, with fist-sized pieces of stone scattered on the sidewalk. The neon sign that Penguin had spent a lot of money to customize was uprooted and is now lying across the middle of the road, still crackling with electricity.

The culprit who caused all this was lying in the rubble, panting heavily. His arms were locked behind his back by Cassandra, and his twisted and deformed face was being rubbed back and forth against the broken glass.

“You lost,” Cassandra stammered.

"It hurts..." The amygdala squeezed out a muffled syllable. The blood vessels that had burst from the venom were still throbbing in his temples, but he had no strength left to resist.

Cassandra simply pressed precisely on the carotid artery in his amygdala, depriving him of oxygen, and gently rested the back of his head against the broken porch base.

"Just how much venom did Bane inject him with?" Tim wondered as he squeezed through the hole in the wall that the amygdala had smashed into the Iceberg Nightclub.

The dance floor was a mess, with shattered crystal chandelier fragments scattered all over the floor, and several booths overturned and crookedly stacked in the corner.

In the very center of the ruins, a bartender in a white shirt and black vest was squatting behind the bar, picking up the scattered whiskey bottles one by one and wiping the dust off the labels with a dazed expression.

“Sir, it’s not safe here. You have to leave immediately,” Tim called out to the bartender.

The bartender clutched a bottle of Macallan that hadn't been broken, muttering in an almost sleepwalking voice, "No, no! Mr. Penguin will kill me! He bought these from an auction in Scotland, four thousand dollars a bottle!"

Tim was unsure whether to apologize first or ask for information first.

But he still chose the latter: "Where are the others? You can't be the only one here."

He knew the Penguin was in jail, and it wasn't nightclub business hours yet, but there was no reason for it to be unguarded.

But the bartender frowned, thought for a moment, and then replied, "Coventry district, they've all gone to Coventry district."

Chapter Forty-Five: A Chance Encounter

"Wang, do you see that power plant? Head there!"

"understand!"

Coventry.

The midday sun shines on the Westward Bridge, and now no brave driver attempts to cross the Coventry area to Arkham Island.

Because on the east side of the bridge, in the open space in front of the old Coventry freight station, two groups of people were facing off.

On the west side were more than thirty people from the Masked Company, led by a burly man with a bare chest and black thorn patterns tattooed all over his neck and wrists. This man was named Tattoo.

On the east side were the Penguin Gang members, led by Lark. However, the expressions on her subordinates' faces were far less resolute than those on the other side.

They didn't understand why Lark insisted on bringing the Penguins to this "long-arm jurisdiction" area where their control was limited, since the Penguins were already in prison.

It's better to go back to the Diamond District and guard that little patch of land.

"Lark, the penguins are all in jail, and instead of tucking your tails between your legs and hiding, you dare to provoke us?" Tattoo tapped his palm with a steel pipe, looking at Lark with disdain.

“Coventry is under our jurisdiction, and you drug addicts have crossed the line,” Lark replied indifferently.

Tattoo spat on the ground. "Very well, let's redraw the boundaries then."

Are you going to declare war on the penguins?

"The war started a long time ago, didn't you receive any notification?"

The tension between the two sides had reached a point where anything they did could ignite a conflict.

At this critical moment, the familiar black armored vehicle made a precise side parking maneuver, cutting into the gap between the two groups. The superb driving skills left everyone present speechless.

The moment the hatch rose and Batman stood up from the car, the Masked Company members took a half-step back, while the Penguin gang members exchanged complicated glances.

Batman, you...

Forget it, I'm not going to say anything more!

Then, a guy wearing a ski mask climbed out of the driver's seat of the Batmobile.

Clearly, he wasn't Robin, because Robin usually sits in the passenger seat.

“Enough, Tattoo. Black Mask is under our control. Now defuse the explosives and tell me where Bane is. Then get out of here with the Penguin Gang.” Batman’s voice was flat, but his hand was already reaching for his tactical belt.

"Do you take me for a child?" Tattoo threw away the steel pipe, pulled out a gun from one of his henchmen, and pointed it disdainfully at Batman.

Lark, on the other side, frowned as well: "Batman, this is between the Penguin Gang and the Masked Company, it's none of your business."

“What this lady said makes sense. According to the rules of the underworld, we really shouldn’t get involved.”

Everyone's eyes turned to the source of the sound.

But then Wang Baixi took out a small brooch, calmly put it on, and said to the Penguin Gang members:

"Then let Emperor Penguin personally give the order: Everyone in the Penguin Gang, leave this place immediately!"

Lak's eyes widened instantly.
