"Then keep it up. Good luck!"

Hearing Mercer's teasing, Makino got even angrier, and in her anger, she picked up another piece of grilled fish and ate it in big bites.

Moses watched with a chuckle, then glanced at the sky.

The sky was getting dark.

Mercer and Ya Da Bao had almost finished eating.

Before long, Makino was full.

He took out a tissue to wipe his mouth, but found that his face and chin were covered in grease. He then realized that it was from Mercer's scratch earlier.

I glanced down at my collar and saw that it was also stained with grease, and my fist suddenly felt hard.

Seeing Makino's actions, Moses thought for a moment and understood, then laughed:

"It's not my fault. You almost fell just now, and I kindly caught you. It was unavoidable."

Makino sighed. "Let's go, it's almost time. I need to go home and wash up. What about you? Want to come with me?"

"Hmm...that works too."

After thinking about it, Moses agreed, since he didn't have anything else to do at the moment.

Mercer tidied up the barbecue grill, packed away the bottles and jars of seasonings in bags, and glanced at Ya Da Bao:

"It's yours to put in the warship."

Ya Dabao nodded and cawed.

It grabbed with its claws, spread its wings, and flew into the sky.

Makino looked up and couldn't help but exclaim, "Ya Dabao is really amazing!"

Moses chuckled, "The birds are all gone, so you can't hear me praising you anymore. Stop praising me."

Makino glared at Messer and snorted irritably, "Let's go."

After saying that, she walked home with heavy steps, her expression slightly annoyed.

Moses followed with a smile.

Turn on the lights in the house from the doorway.

In the spacious living room, Makino looked at Mercer, who had come in with her, and thought for a moment before saying:

"I'm going to take a shower first, I can't stand it anymore. Okay, I'll shower quickly. You can sit in the living room for a while. There's iced tea on the coffee table, and cups and everything else. Help yourself."

As she spoke, she quickly went back to her room, and came out again a minute later, carrying a change of clothes into the bathroom near the door in the living room.

Moses looked at the layout of the living room. It was a standard living room with a sofa, coffee table, balcony, and bookshelves. Moses walked over to the bookshelves.

Looking at the neatly stacked books, Mercer randomly picked one up and saw the cover.

"haven"

Mercer had never read such a book before, but the cover featured a line drawing of a handsome man and a beautiful woman.

It didn't look very thick, which piqued my curiosity, so I immediately sat down on the wooden floor in front of the bookshelf and started flipping through it.

Chapter 38 Don't worry, I'm not stupid!

"A resilient, aloof, and scheming female lead versus a handsome, arrogant aristocratic heir. A love-hate relationship, a divorce followed by falling in love, the thrill of mistreating his wife is short-lived, but the pursuit of her will be a nightmare."

Mercer flipped through the pages quickly, his lips twitching more and more with each reading. What a melodramatic and tragic love story, and it even had a perfect ending!

Just kidding.

The bathroom door opened, and Makino, wearing a pink short-sleeved shirt and shorts, came out. Seeing Mercer's figure, she tilted her head in confusion: "What book are you reading?"

As she approached, she immediately saw an illustration of a man and woman embracing each other, and Makino's eyes widened in surprise.

His mouth opened and closed unconsciously, then suddenly his face turned bright red, "Ah!!!"

After a deafening scream, he suddenly bent down and snatched the book from Mercer's hands.

Clutching the books to his chest, he quickly took a step back, his eyes glaring at Moses with shame and indignation, stammering:

"Why are you reading this book?"

"Isn't the point of putting things on the bookshelf to be seen?" Mercer looked at her speechlessly. "And why are you getting so worked up?"

"It's just a melodramatic romance novel. There's nothing wrong with a girl your age reading it. I don't care, so why are you so nervous?"

Mercer muttered a speechless complaint, glanced at Makino, got up, walked past her, and headed towards the bathroom.

"I'm going to take a shower."

With a click, the bathroom door closed.

Makino turned around, her face flushed, and couldn't help but grind her teeth.

"You brat, what do you mean 'a little girl your age'? You're not even as old as me!"

His face was contorted with shock, feeling as if his dark past had been exposed, and an extreme sense of shame shot from his tailbone to his head.

"Aaaaaahhhhhh!!!" Makino screamed a few times with a look of utter despair, and finally, her shoulders slumped, and she sighed helplessly, on the verge of tears.

"That precocious brat who deserves a beating."

Hearing the sound of running water coming from the bathroom, Makino glared back fiercely, but then her expression froze, as if she had remembered that she had forgotten something.

With a helpless sigh, Makino prayed in her heart, "I hope he hasn't found out."

She then went back to her room, grabbed some clothes, and placed them on the stool by the bathroom door. Makino then spoke:

"I've left your change of clothes by the door. Remember to change into them later."

"Okay, thanks."

Moses replied casually.

After a quick and simple rinse, and washing the grease-covered short-sleeved shirt on her body, Mercer dried herself off, opened the door a crack, and took the clothes that Makino had prepared from the stool outside.

The blue short-sleeved shirt and shorts were clearly too big for him. When Mercer looked in the mirror, he could even see the ruffles around the cuffs, and his lips twitched involuntarily.

But then he saw his clothes already washed in the basin and shook his head helplessly. "Forget it, I'm just a kid, why should I care so much?"

Mercer stopped thinking about it, opened the door and went out, just in time to see Makino sitting on the sofa, looking at him with a smile on her face.

Mercer remained calm, turning around in front of her quite naturally. After circling once, he looked at her serenely, a smile playing at the corners of his lips.

"Have you seen enough?"

"Ahem, who was looking at you?" Makino turned her face away guiltily. "I wasn't looking at you. I just happened to be looking over there when you happened to walk out."

"Oh, where can I hang my clothes to dry? I just washed them."

Moses asked her.

Makino blinked, then realized what was happening, and suddenly covered her mouth and chuckled, "Hehehe, Mercer, so that's how it is."

A # appeared on her forehead. Mercer stared at her without saying a word. After he'd finished laughing, Makino's eyes darted around:

"I just did the laundry too, and I'm about to hang it up. I'll help you with that too. Okay, that's all."

Makino got up and ran past Mercer, disappearing into the bathroom in a flash, her eyes immediately drawn to the bamboo basket in the corner.

Suddenly relieved, Makino patted her chest; the item was still the same.

"They probably haven't been discovered yet," Makino muttered to herself. "Yeah, probably not."

“If you’re talking about your clothes in the laundry basket, I saw them.” Mercer appeared behind Makino and suddenly said, “Don’t worry, they haven’t been touched.”

Makino shuddered clearly, and Messer grinned mischievously, "The color is quite pretty. Big sister."

After saying that, Mercer walked towards the sofa with a smile.

As Makino heard the footsteps fading into the distance, her eyes turned unusually resentful, and her face flushed crimson.

My heart is beating unusually fast.

Her lips parted slightly, as if she was about to scream, but then she realized that everyone had already gone far away, and screaming wouldn't make a difference.

Suddenly, a breath caught in his throat, unable to go in or out, causing him excruciating discomfort, and his lips began to tremble violently.

Using the breathing technique taught by Moses, he took a deep breath, and a few seconds later, without saying a word, he picked up the bamboo basket and prepared to leave.

But after thinking about it,

In the end, he picked up Moses' clothes from the basin beside him, stepped out of the bathroom, paused, and only uttered a single sentence:

"I'm going to put on some clothes."

Then he walked quickly toward the door.

Just as Makino reached the door, Mercer's voice rang out: "Do you need my help?"

“No need,” Makino replied instantly. “I can manage on my own. You can rest.”

After saying that, Makino stomped her feet and went out the door, turning right and going up the stairs leading to the rooftop.

Shaking his head, Mercer sighed, "I didn't expect her to be such an innocent girl."

"Yeah, a naive and innocent girl who loves reading melodramatic romance novels."

Just then, a "ding-ding" sound came from the window outside the living room. Mercer turned his head and looked, and saw that it was none other than Ya Da Bao.

Stepping forward and opening the screen window, Ya Dabao hopped in step by step with his feet turned outwards.

“Mei, I saw that stupid girl on the rooftop,” Ya Dabao said. “Clothes, bamboo pole.”
