"Then why didn't you ask me to help?" Yi Xue was a little unhappy, but she didn't show it. She could guess that Yi Yue was afraid of disturbing her studies.
"The exam is coming up soon, and I'm afraid it will affect your studies," Yi Yue said with a smile.
"Dad, don't you believe me?" Yixue said reproachfully, but seeing that Yiyue was just as she had thought, afraid of disturbing her studies, she felt better.
“How could I not believe Yixue?” Yiyue immediately said, “What does it matter whether I believe her or not?”
Yixue said confidently, "Isn't Dad worried that it will affect my studies and make me do poorly on the exam? Dad has too little confidence in me."
"Cramming at the last minute is something only people who do poorly in exams or have average grades do, and who lack confidence."
"If you listen attentively in class, why would you be afraid of not doing well on the test?" Yixue smiled and said, "I'm the kind of student who does very well on tests."
Yixue stood there smiling and said, full of confidence and composure.
"Yes, I believe you, but Yixue, don't be too proud," Yiyue reminded her.
"Don't worry." Yixue walked over and took Yiyue's hand that was holding the broom in her little hand. "Daddy, let me sweep." She gently rubbed Yiyue's hand.
As she continued rubbing, Yi Yue reluctantly let go of the broom and said, "Okay, then you sweep. I'll go get some water and mop the floor later."
"Mmm!" Yi Xue smiled, rubbing Yi Yue's hand. She rubbed Yi Yue's palm and noticed that there were fine calluses under his fingers.
Yi Xue was somewhat surprised. She remembered that when she was very young, the hand she held in Yi Yue's hand was very light and soft. Now it was a bit bumpy and felt rough and gritty.
As Yi Yue turned to leave, Yi Xue suddenly wrapped her arms around his back, her voice a little hoarse: "Dad, you've worked hard."
"Huh, why are you suddenly bringing this up?" Yi Yue asked, puzzled. "Let go of me first, I'm all sweaty."
“I don’t mind the sweat on Daddy’s body,” Yixue said, clinging tightly to him.
Yi Yue smiled wryly: "Let go first, I'm very hot."
Yi Xue released her hand only after hearing what Yi Yue said.
"Why are you suddenly bringing this up?" Yi Yue continued to ask. Why did Yi Xue suddenly say that she had worked hard?
"Dad, your hand..."
"What's wrong with my hands?" Yi Yue looked at her hands. "There's nothing wrong with them."
“Your hands are covered in calluses. I remember Dad’s hands used to be very smooth.”
"Ha, you mean this?" Yi Yue found it amusing. "Doing too many things will definitely cause calluses to form."
"Dad, you must be exhausted," Yixue said, bowing her head.
"No, not at all. Having calluses is hard work? Not everyone works themselves to the bone," Yi Yue laughed. "I'm just doing my job. There are people who work much harder than me. Like those construction workers carrying bricks and cement, working in the sweltering heat. Do you think they work harder or I work harder?"
“It’s not the same.” Yi Xue felt that Yi Yue’s analogy was incorrect; the two were not of the same nature.
"Yixue, everyone has their hardships. If someone doesn't suffer, it's because someone else is suffering for them." Yiyue smiled and patted Yixue's head. "A father's happiness is seeing his daughter happy. Yixue, you should understand, right?"
Yixue nodded, lowered her head, and quickly raised it again, saying earnestly to Yiyue, "Dad, I want to suffer in your place."
"What's all this talk about hardship? Hurry up and sweep the floor!" Yi Yue said with a laugh as she walked out of the room.
Looking at Yiyue's figure, Yixue thought, "Everyone suffers. If there is no pain, then someone must be suffering. I want to share my father's burden and suffer with him."
Izuki went downstairs, while Rena played on her phone while enjoying the air conditioning.
"Do you need to mop the floor?" Rena asked, turning off her phone.
Izuki nodded, brought over two buckets, and handed Rena a mop, asking her to mop the entryway and kitchen.
The mop is the kind that uses a sponge to wring out water, so there's no worry that Rena won't wring it out properly and that water will get everywhere.
Mopping the floor is simple; Rena isn't stupid. She wrings out the water and carefully mops the floor.
"You need to mop twice, don't be lazy. First mop and rinse with water, then wipe it completely clean the second time. Pay attention to the corners, these areas need to be wiped carefully," Yi Yue reminded, carrying the bucket, rag and mop to the living room to mop the floor.
Yi Yue quickly finished mopping, then took a rag and wiped the TV cabinet and coffee table until they were shiny enough to reflect a person's image.
Go over to Reina's side; Reina is wiping very slowly.
My initial enthusiasm has been largely worn away, and now I feel rather listless.
"Cheer up," Yi Yue said. "I'll go upstairs and mop the floor, you mop downstairs quickly."
"Okay," Rena said listlessly.
Yi Yue carried the bucket to the corridor, and Yi Xue came out of her room when she heard the noise.
"Dad, where should I drag myself?" Yixue asked.
"Okay, you can mop your own room, and Reina's too. The hallway is with my room, I'll do it myself."
"Mm." Yixue nodded, took the broom from Yiyue, and looking at Yiyue's empty hands, suddenly remembered something: "Dad, what will you use?"
There are only two mops at home, one in Reina's house and the other in Yixue's house.
"I'll wipe it with a cloth first, and then I'll wipe it after you're done," Yi Yue said.
Yixue said with concern, "Dad, you wipe it first, I'll use a rag."
"No need, just hurry up and wipe it." Yi Yue declined Yi Xue's offer. She was the father, and it was no big deal for her to work a little harder.
"Well, okay," Yixue said hesitantly, thinking to herself that she needed to wipe it quickly.
"Don't go too fast, make sure to wipe it clean carefully," Yi Yue reminded her.
"Okay!" Yixue nodded and took the mop to clean her room first.
Yi Yue took a rag, wrung it out, placed it at her feet, and began wiping.
Chapter Sixty-Eight: The Apple Tree
The cleaning was completed quickly.
Rena lay on the sofa, shaking her small, white feet.
"Phew, I'm so tired," Rena said wearily.
Yi Yue chuckled, "You're already tired? How about I make you steak tonight to treat you?"
"Oh, steak!" Rena's eyes lit up. "Daddy, hurry up and make it, hurry up and make it!"
“Eating steak will make you feel less tired,” Yi Yue joked.
"I'm tired, but who else can I choose?" Rena stuck out her tongue.
Yixue smiled and said to Lingna, "Do you need me to give you a massage? That way you won't be tired."
"Rua, why don't you massage yourself!" Rena stuck her tongue out at Yixue unhappily, recalling some unpleasant memories.
"Can you massage yourself?" Yixue asked.
“Why not? Just press your left hand on your right shoulder and your right hand on your left shoulder, right?” Rena argued vehemently.
"So, according to you, if you step on your right foot with your left foot, and then step on your left foot with your right foot, and use that momentum, you can fly, right?" Yixue smiled.
Rena blinked thoughtfully: "Hey, if you step on your right foot with your left foot, and then step on your left foot with your right foot, can you really fly?"
Yixue laughed heartily, never expecting that Reina would actually be thinking about such a question.
Izuki couldn't help but chuckle, and gently pinched Rena's nose, saying, "Silly girl, even Newton's coffin lid can't hold you back anymore."
"Newton who got hit by an apple tree?" Rena asked.
"Yes."
"What does that have to do with him?" Rena was a little confused.
“You’ll understand when you learn physics next semester,” Yi Yue said.
Rena simply said "oh" and didn't ask any further questions.
Yixue seemed to have found the thrill of intellectually dominating Reina, and asked Reina a question with a smile, deliberately teasing her: "Do you think the eggs are crispy?"
"It's crispy." Reina looked at Yixue with the eyes of someone looking at an idiot, asking such an idiotic question.
"Do you think such a brittle egg, if dropped from the 30th floor, could kill someone?" Yixue asked.
"Um, it should be enough to kill him!" Rena replied after a moment's thought.
She had heard her moral education teacher talk about objects being thrown from high-rise buildings. The teacher said that even an empty water bottle falling from the 8th floor could shatter 5mm thick glass. Just imagine how terrifying it would be if it were a human head. If it's high enough, even an egg could kill someone.
"You guessed right, can those water droplets kill people?" Yi Xue smiled as she saw Ling Nai lower her head in thought.
"Can a drop of water kill someone? I heard from my teacher that if the water pressure is high enough, it can even break through a security door, so it should be able to kill someone, right?"
"If an egg, which is so brittle, can kill someone, then a drop of water would certainly be no problem."
Rena pondered for a moment, then quickly gave her answer: "They could crush you to death."
Yi Xue laughed loudly, "Idiot, of course not."
Rena retorted, "Why? An egg can kill, but water can't?"
"Haven't you ever been caught in the rain?" Yixue mocked.
Rena exclaimed in surprise, "Oh, right, isn't rain just water droplets?"
Seeing Reina's bewildered expression as she suddenly realized what was happening, Yixue laughed even harder.
Rena was a little unhappy and retorted, "Take the test again, I won't believe you!"
"Okay, listen, imagine a person running around a big tree. He gets faster and faster, first at the speed of sound, then supersonic, and then the speed of light. What speed does he need to reach to pull the hair on the back of his head?" Yixue continued to ask.
Reina lowered her head, lost in thought, unaware of the smile that appeared on Yixue's lips.
"Yixue is really something." Yiyue found it amusing but didn't expose her. She just quietly watched the two sisters play around.
Time passed slowly. Yi Yue glanced at the clock; it was 5:10. She had to go upstairs to collect the blankets.
"Dad, where are you going?" Yixue asked Yiyue as she stood up.
"I'll go upstairs and collect the blankets."
"Then I'll help you," Yixue said with a smile.
Rena said unhappily, "Don't go yet, you haven't told me the answer to this question."
"Hehe, take your time guessing," Yixue laughed, following behind Yiyue to the balcony to collect the blankets.
