In the original film, walkers stormed the building, and everyone evacuated. T-Z, who was holding the key to Moore's handcuffs, tripped and dropped the key into the sewer, leaving Moore stranded on the rooftop. When Rick and Moore's brother Daryl sneaked back into the building to rescue Moore, they only found a pool of blood and Moore's severed right hand on the rooftop. The camp lost a key member, indirectly causing the team's first major casualty, which was truly regrettable. Akira decided to change everything, his memories clearly telling him that he must constantly become stronger.

"Do you feel more awake now?" Jie Liang came to Mo Er's side and asked with a gentle smile.

“Yes, unlock the handcuffs! Hmm!” Moore said with a smile, trying to be as friendly as possible when looking at Jie Liang.

But Jie Liang could tell that he was still somewhat resentful and had some ulterior motives. For example, he was thinking about what he would do if the handcuffs were removed.

Jie Liang chuckled silently, his eyes full of mockery: "And then? What do you plan to do after the handcuffs are removed?"

Moore's face fell in frustration, and he stopped talking.

"How did you get into this group?" Akara continued to ask with concern, "Why did you stay?"

“It’s none of your business!” Moore said impatiently.

"Let me guess—there's strength in numbers, and it's safer than being alone; there are things you don't want to do, you can delegate to others. Like cooking, washing clothes, or keeping watch; more importantly, you're not alone, you have someone you care about very much with you, and you feel you can't protect yourself, so you need a group to take care of them!"

"What do you mean? What exactly do you want?" Mor was furious; Akira had hit the nail on the head. But they had never met before. Akira's understanding of him terrified him.

“You guessed right? I think you have a younger brother.” Jie Liang continued to provoke Mo Er.

"What nonsense are you spouting! What exactly do you want to do!" Moore was like an enraged bull, staring at Jie Liang with hateful eyes. If it weren't for the handcuffs, he probably would have pounced on him already!

"Oh, Mr. Jie Liang, you're really something." Seeing Moore get angry, T-boy's mood suddenly improved. "But you're wrong about one thing, Dixon just has a good younger brother."

"Oh? What's his name?" Jie Liang asked casually.

"That's none of your business!" Moore retorted angrily.

“You know what? It’s Daryl!” T-boy continued to reveal the secret from the side.

Enraged, Mo'er yelled at T-boy, "Damn bastard, I'll kill you first thing I do once I'm free!"

"Alright! That's enough!" Jie Liang suddenly became serious, and Mo Er and T-zai subconsciously fell silent at the same time.

Jie Liang placed his hand on Mo Er's shoulder and looked earnestly into his eyes: "We need to work together! You know very well that no matter who it is, no matter how capable they are, they must rely on the collective to survive!"

“Do you know what I’m thinking?” Jie Liang continued, “I don’t like this world! I don’t like the world becoming like this! I don’t like those zombies! I miss my warm home! I miss the times we spent together! I miss safety!”

Jie Liang paused, allowing Mo Er time to think carefully about what he had said.

“So,” Jie Liang continued, “first, we must strive to survive; second, we must unite more people to rebuild this country and rebuild human society; third, we must kill all the zombies or cure this plague! Only then can we get what we want!”

Moor was deeply moved and fell into deep thought, a look of resentment on his face, clearly recalling the events before the disaster; T-boy next to him also looked resentful, thinking about something.

"T-boy, go down and get the key to the handcuffs from Rick!" Jie Liang ordered.

T-Zai and Mo'er looked at each other, their faces devoid of hatred. T-Zai then glanced at Jie Liang, as if trying to see the man before him clearly, before standing up and resolutely walking towards the rooftop exit.

“The sewers are impassable. They’re usually fenced off to filter debris and for security, and we don’t have the equipment to open them. Besides, there are no directional signs down there, so it’s easy to get lost,” Jie Liang said to Mo Er, seemingly to himself.

"Then why didn't you warn them?" Moore asked, puzzled.

“People won’t know they’re wrong unless they experience failure firsthand!” Jie Liang explained to Mo Er.

"Prestige can only be built slowly. When people know that you are often right and they are often wrong, they will naturally obey you! Not through violence!" Jie Liang taught Moore. "You can make people fear you, but hatred for you will drive them to be outwardly compliant but inwardly defiant and uncooperative. In the end, you will accomplish nothing!"

“You are a warrior, Mor! Now is the time for you to shine and earn respect! The old world has been destroyed, but in the new world, you will surely have a place!” Jie Liang said solemnly to Mor.

Just then, the rooftop door opened, and Rick strode onto the roof, with T-boy following behind him.

"T-boy said you want the key to the handcuffs?" Rick looked at Jie Liang with suspicion.

“Yes, Moore has repented for his mistakes and wants to do something for the team.” Jie Liang reached out to Rick without even considering his refusal.

"...Are you sure?" Rick looked at the handcuffed Moore and kindly reminded Jie Liang.

“Yes, absolutely sure!” Jie Liang gave Rick a confident smile.

“Okay, you’re in charge!” Rick obediently handed over the key.

Jie Liang took the key and handed it to T-Zai: "You have to open it yourself."

Without any hesitation, T unlocked Moore's handcuffs and then returned the handcuffs and key to Rick.

"I apologize to you, T-boy. I shouldn't have treated you like that. Thank you so much for forgiving me!" Mo'er, who was always impulsive and domineering and never gave in to others, rarely said words of apology.

“It’s all in the past. I just hope you’ve forgotten what you just said—that you would kill me first after you’re free!” T-boy said to Moore with a smile.

"Huh? Has anyone said that? I haven't heard it," Moore said with an embarrassed smile.

"You become friends after a fight, don't you? Remember, unity is everything, and we need others to cover our backs!"

Jie Liang took Moore and T-Zai's hands, clasped them together, and then looked at Rick. Rick smiled, stroked his chin, and then extended his hand, clasping it with the three of them. The four of them looked at each other and smiled.

"How's the sewer situation going?" Jie Liang asked Rick.

“No results yet,” Rick replied. “Glenn and Morales went down and haven’t come back yet.”

"Don't even dream about it, it's definitely not going to work!" Moore said, pursing his lips.

“I’ll go down with you and take a look,” Jie Liang said to Rick. “Moore, you and T-boy stay here!”

Jie Liang picked up the sniper rifle from the side and handed it back to Mo Er. Then, he led the way towards the exit. (To be continued...)

Chapter 182 Danger Approaching

Akira and Rick went down to the first floor, where Andrea was strolling around the department store.

"What have you taken a fancy to?" Jie Liang asked with a smile.

“Yes, but I don’t think I should take it. There’s a policeman watching me.” Andrea touched a necklace with a pretty pendant and said shyly, “My sister loves this the most.”

“I think those are unclaimed, you can take them as you please,” Rick said with a smile.

Andrea took off the necklace and awkwardly put it in her pocket.

"Bang! Crash!" The sound of shattering glass rang out, and the first door of the department store suddenly shattered. The zombie rushed into the lobby and began frantically smashing the second door.

Startled, Rick pulled out his pistol and pointed it towards the door. Morales and the others, hearing the sound of shattering glass, rushed over as well.

"How's the sewer exploration going?" Jie Liang asked Glenn very calmly, as if nothing had happened.

"It's not good. The area below is blocked by steel bars, and there are zombies outside the bars," Glenn reported frantically.

"So, have you made up your minds about my plan?" Jie Liang pointed towards the door. "Time is running out!"

“We should slowly think of a way…” Morales was interrupted by Rick halfway through his sentence: “Slowly? Do you think we have that much time?”

"Rick, this is your job. Go to the rooftop, use the binoculars to carefully observe the construction site, and come up with a detailed plan. I'll keep watch here!" Jie Liang ordered Rick.

So, Akira stayed in the department store by himself. The others quickly climbed up to the rooftop.

After carefully observing the construction site and the road leading to it, Rick decided that he and Glenn would disguise themselves as zombies and drive to the site to pick up the others and escape.

Rick then led Glenn, Morales, Jacqueline, and Andrea back to the first floor to carry out the plan, while T-Z and Moore continued to guard the rooftop, with Moore providing fire support when necessary.

Akira remained at the department store. Meanwhile, Rick and his five companions, dressed in waterproof trench coats and gloves, dragged the body of a zombie into the warehouse from the alleyway on the right.

The five men stood around the corpse, exchanging bewildered glances. Rick hesitated for a moment, then took off his gloves and began rummaging through the corpse's pockets.

He took out a wallet, opened it, and carefully looked at the Social Security card inside: "Wayne Dunlap. Georgia native, born in 1979."

He passed the social security card around to several people, and continued in a hoarse voice, "He had twenty-eight dollars on him when he died, and a picture of a boy. He was very handsome."

Rick turned the photo over. Looking at the back, he read, "From your loving father!"

“He used to worry about bills and rent, or the Super Bowl, just like us,” Rick told the four.

“If I can reunite with my family, I will definitely tell them about Wayne!” Rick said, then put the wallet back into the corpse’s pocket.

In such a world, everyone is pitiful. However, Jie Liang still felt Rick was too hypocritical, like Zheng Zha from the Infinite Terror dimension. Later, he could kill others for his own benefit; he could refuse the inclusion of the pitiful and watch them die. But at this moment, he actually expressed pity for a corpse!

Rick put his splash mask back on, glanced at the group, nodded, and swung his fire axe, striking the walker in the stomach. Andrea and Jacqueline immediately turned away in fright, and even Morales was chanting the name of the Virgin Mary.

The zombie had been dead for several days and was beginning to decompose. Its abdomen was then ripped open, and a mass of contents gushed out under the pressure of its abdomen. A nauseating stench suddenly filled the room, and everyone looked on in horror.

Rick then chopped off the walker's hands and feet, and the blood stained the ground, making the scene extremely gruesome.

“Your turn.” Rick handed Morales the axe and mask. Morales, fighting back nausea, continued to chop the walker into even smaller pieces.

After the walker was completely decomposed, Rick and Glenn, with the help of the other three, smeared the semi-solid viscous substance from the walker's body all over their trench coats, and even hung the walker's hands and feet around their necks.

Then, Rick, carrying a fire axe, and Glenn, carrying a crowbar, carefully left the warehouse. They cautiously passed by the walkers in the alley; their stealth technique worked, and the walkers didn't recognize them.

Then they crawled out from under the bus blocking the alley entrance and came to the street filled with zombies.

Morales and the others quickly climbed onto the rooftop, using binoculars to search for Rick.

"There they are!" Morales shouted, pointing to Rick and Glenn, who were carefully moving around downstairs disguised as zombies.

Moore immediately raised his gun and aimed it at Rick.

"What are you going to do!" Andrea asked Mor in surprise.

Moore glanced sideways at Andrea: "What do you think?" He then ignored everyone else and focused on observing Rick and Glenn through the scope on his gun.

Rick and Glenn walked on without incident, with zombies constantly lurking around them.

Suddenly, it started raining!

The people on the rooftop immediately sensed something was wrong, and Moore also gripped his gun tightly, ready to deal with any unexpected situation.

The rain intensified, gradually washing away Rick and Glenn's disguises. They knew things were going badly, but dared not act rashly, and could only grit their teeth and continue forward.

Gradually, the walkers around them began to observe them intentionally or unintentionally, clearly having smelled the scent of living people on Rick and Glenn.

Suddenly, a zombie let out a terrifying roar and lunged at Rick. Rick immediately turned around, cleaved the zombie's head in two with an axe, and then yelled at Glenn to charge forward as fast as he could.

"Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" Gunshots rang out as Moore fired repeatedly, blowing the heads off the walkers that tried to get close to Rick and Glenn.

But there were too many walkers, relentlessly closing in on Rick and Glenn. They had no choice but to fight their way through with their axes and crowbars.

Finally, Rick and Glenn made their way through the horde of walkers and ran desperately toward the construction site's barbed wire gate, with the walkers hot on their heels.

Too many walkers were chasing them, and Moore had no choice but to stop firing. At this point, killing one or two walkers was completely pointless.

Rick and Glenn rushed to the construction site gate, threw their axe and crowbar into the site, and scrambled up the gate and jumped overboard. Immediately afterward, the horde of zombies crashed into the gate.

Glenn picked up a crowbar to get the truck keys, while Rick drew his gun and shot at the walkers trying to climb over the gate. Seeing this, Moore also opened fire from the rooftop to provide support.

After killing seven walkers that climbed onto the gate, Glenn finally found the key and tossed it to Rick. Rick stopped shooting and ran to start the truck.

The truck frantically turned around, and behind it, the zombies had already pushed down the construction site gate and swarmed in!

With the path blocked by zombies, the truck could only drive further and further away from the building.
