The mission was quickly assigned, and Jill, Chris, and Alice had already traveled for 7 hours by plane to the Dubai Marsh in Africa.
"Hello, Mr. Alfred. Where's Mr. Hank? I really envy your life fighting in Africa." Chris asked Alfred with a puzzled look as soon as he arrived at the Umbrella Corporation's African branch.
"Let's get down to business! Come in!" Alfred said to Chris impatiently.
“Hmm.” With that, Alfred led them to the branch’s conference room. When he opened the door, the three of them were a little surprised. Inside, Umbrella’s elite mercenary combatants were sitting neatly. It was clear that the African branch was also quite powerful. The meeting had just started, and they found the conference table and sat down.
"Before discussing this mission, let's talk about the last one. The last mission failed; we couldn't stop the Hydra attack, so the iconic building was destroyed," Alfred said thoughtfully, his expression completely blank.
Hearing this, all three fell silent. "We will never forget the hatred for Hydra, and we will destroy that organization with our own hands," Jill said excitedly, as if making a declaration to Alfred.
"Listen to me, everyone. Last time, it was caused by Hydra disrupting our vision. Headquarters was also interfered with, making it impossible to monitor Hydra's actions. So it wasn't that the Stars and BSAA didn't try their best. This is the information the boss gave me." Alfred explained to them without any intention of blaming them.
"Alright, let me explain the mission. The primary objective is to find the parasite itself, and the secondary objective is to locate Leon and Claire's team," Alfred said to everyone briefly.
“Our target this time is the village in the Dubai Marsh. It’s also the settlement of the ‘Lost Light’ religion, which has existed there since the Middle Ages. That religion possesses a special parasite that, once implanted, can enhance power even more than the T-virus. Furthermore, those infected with the parasite possess considerable intelligence, slightly higher than the Tracker’s. Three days ago, Leon and Claire’s team lost contact. Perhaps they discovered the parasite, or perhaps the religion discovered them, and they were trapped there. By the way, Deadpool, that mutant, seems to have come too. Hank the Grim Reaper also went there; he might have arrived by now.” Alfred briefly explained his conjectures to Jill and Chris.
"Yeah, don't be so discouraged. We're all elites among elites! It's okay. Plus, with us going to the rescue, I think we can relax," Chris comforted Jill.
“We know better than you this time. It’s possible the company ordered your operation alone. I think you’d better come up with a suitable battle plan.” Alfred glanced at Chris and Jill and said to them in a low voice.
Chapter 326 Operation Plan
Tang Tian has no immediate plans to concern himself with the parasite raiding plans in Africa or the Hulk affair; it's almost time for him to travel to other dimensions to acquire technology. It must be said that Tang Tian rebuilt his Steel Empire using resources from movie dimensions.
Zhang Min's god-like technological level was something Tang Tian was ashamed of and couldn't reach for a long time. Zhang Min's understanding of space and technology was the strongest. Tang Tian felt that if that madman descended and didn't recklessly unleash the Tsar Bomba and all sorts of dangerous weapons, that wouldn't be in his nature. As Zhang Min's experimental subject, Tang Tian was inferior to Zhang Min in every aspect. Moreover, after his soul was destroyed and he was reborn in another universe, Tang Tian lost all his knowledge and most of his memories. It can be said that what supported Tang Tian's development before was still Zhang Min's belief.
Tang Tian had begun to understand that there were many parallel universes at the edge of the Marvel Universe. These were connected but not overlapping parallel universes, containing countless worlds within the Marvel Universe. The Main God Space was the same; it connected countless parallel universes, allowing reincarnators to obtain various items there, while the Main God also took the opportunity to benefit from the reincarnators. Tang Tian could temporarily disregard these matters.
An infinite cycle of reincarnation has created countless powerful beings and influenced many parallel universes. The Marvel Universe may be influenced by the causal relationship of these infinite worlds. The Marvel Universe is currently somewhat chaotic, but it continues to develop, and dangers will continue to arise.
"Wesker, I'll be leaving for a while. You'll be in charge of the company for the time being. Remember to use those hidden high-tech weapons if necessary." At the Umbrella Corporation headquarters in New York City, Tang Tian carefully instructed Wesker, whom he trusted. Tang Tian was already preparing to continue plundering technology in the movie dimension, so he gave some important instructions before leaving.
“I understand, boss. So how long are you going to be gone?” Albert Wesker was not surprised by his boss Tang Tian’s sudden disappearance.
Furthermore, Wesker had previously visited Tang Tian's colonies and was very familiar with the rise of the Umbrella Corporation. Although Wesker wasn't a physicist, his intelligence allowed him to glean insights from the Planet of the Apes dimension, leading him to understand his boss's changed goals upon his departure.
"It might take three months, it might take a year. It doesn't matter. I'm leaving for that place, and I think you should understand. Umbrella Corporation needs more technology. And you don't need to worry about Hydra's constant attacks on the company. Our real power isn't here." Tang Tian was clearly taken aback by Wesker's words. He understood what Wesker meant, so he explained it to Wesker in this way.
“Hmm. I understand now. Hopefully, the boss can get more. I think we'll be the most stable and reliable after the world is in complete chaos.” Wesker thought for a moment and said to Tang Tian expressionlessly.
Tang Tian nodded in agreement; he could certainly glean other meanings from Wesker's words. Wesker was a smart man; he had already realized that the Marvel universe was in danger, which was why he said those things.
"You're very good," Tang Tian said to Wesker, then left. He decided that when he traveled to other dimensions again, he would use the acquired technology to improve his subordinates' combat capabilities; it was time to truly elevate their overall level.
It was inevitable that Tang Tian would continue his journey to the movie world. Everything was almost ready. Just as Tang Tian decided to leave, Chris and Jill began their battle plan.
“Okay, here’s the operation plan.” Alfred said, turning on the 3D projector and addressing the special operations team members.
"Look, this is our location in Africa, and also the location of the Umbrella Corporation branch. This is the Dubai Marsh, where the villages are very remote and have little contact with the outside world due to inconvenient transportation. It's known as the area of the 'Lost Light' religion. According to Lyon's last report, no parasites have been found there yet, so we landed 10 kilometers southwest of there. We can't let that religion notice us. We split into two combat teams."
"Group A and Group B, ten people each, you will lead the reinforcements there to command and provide support." After saying that, Alfred turned off the projector, his eyes scanning the group. Preparations for the mission were complete.
“Alright, now let’s announce the members of Team A: Jill, Black, Pete… and the members of Team B: Chris, Ron, Alice… I think everyone understands. The above personnel, please stay. The rest of you, meeting adjourned.” Alfred ordered the others in the meeting room.
The meeting room instantly went from calm to chaotic. Members quickly packed up and left the meeting room. They weren't the type to end the meeting quickly; they knew Alfred was going to assign task details, and it wasn't appropriate for them to be present, so they dispersed according to protocol. There were 20 people in the room, all elites from the Umbrella Corporation's forces.
Alfred glanced at Jill and the others and said casually, "You 20 people are the main team members for this mission. I hope you will perform even better tomorrow."
"Alright, let's get down to business now." Everyone immediately found seats, putting aside other trivial matters; after all, the mission was the most important thing. The company also needed talent capable of completing the mission perfectly. Alfred continued speaking to the action team members.
"So, the plan is to assemble outside the base at 5:00 AM tomorrow. We need to get both groups of 20 people to the Dubai Marsh before 7:00 AM. The mission begins at 7:00 AM sharp. Team A and Team B will advance in a straight line and split up after 5 miles. Team A will enter the Dubai Marsh directly from the south, while Team B will move west and enter from the west. You can use Level 4 high-tech weapons, including Gauss weapons and laser guns, during this operation. Okay, that's all for now. It's 5:00 PM now, 12 hours left. Go back to your rooms and get a good night's sleep. That's all for now." With that, Alfred left the meeting room.
“Chris, it seems this mission is really not simple. In the past, no matter what, we've only ever used level 2 weapons at most. This mission is likely to be extremely troublesome.” Alice frowned. Hearing Alfred's words, she knew this mission might be very difficult.
“Yes, Alice. That’s what I think too, but we’re confident in our abilities. Plus, with your Newtype-like strength, I think we have a very good chance of completing this mission perfectly,” Jill said with a smile to Chris and Alice.
“What you said is right, that’s probably the case, so we need to find out more about the situation. I’ll find Leon and my sister; this is our chance to prove ourselves.” Chris said to the two men with complete confidence, without any worry.
The Marvel universe's storylines are constantly changing, but the characters remain the same, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to allow certain storylines to unfold in a reasonable way.
Chapter 327 The Hydra Project
Umbrella Corporation's greatest strength lies in biotechnology. Although Tang Tian plundered three major mechanical dimensions, it still couldn't compensate for the deficiencies in their technological development. Therefore, Tang Tian descended into the movie dimension again to develop both of his technologies, perhaps reaching the same level as that person in the future.
For Tang Tian, the Plaka parasite was something he absolutely had to obtain. Since the parasite existed within the Marvel Universe, acquiring it would be very easy. Tang Tian left the Marvel Universe because he no longer had what he needed, and now he would seek valuable technology elsewhere.
Tang Tian's greatest success in controlling Umbrella Corporation wasn't possessing advanced technology, but rather winning over its diverse talent pool, including former adversaries from the game. He managed to ensure these individuals had no doubts and were fully committed to making Umbrella Corporation even more successful. This undeniably demonstrates Tang Tian's ability to manipulate people.
Back in Africa, it was already 10 PM before the mission began. Jill glanced at her watch; she tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep. She had already taken a sleeping pill, but the worries on her mind kept her awake. She sat up, rubbing her eyes. The recent Hydra attacks had left her feeling uneasy. So she decided to get up and clear her head, hoping it would make the upcoming mission go more smoothly.
"Uh, sorry, sir, I thought there was an enemy attack. Hello, why aren't you resting so late? If you're hungry, the supply depot has some compressed biscuits and various canned foods, which will keep us fed for a long time. There's also coffee on the table, you can have it as a midnight snack!" Jill had just come out when she noticed the guards inside the branch office pointing their rifles at her.
However, the guard on duty, upon recognizing Jill, awkwardly explained the situation to him and retrieved his weapon. This operation wasn't entirely secret; some soldiers were aware of it. Umbrella, a company with highly militarized management, always informed others of necessary precautions before an operation.
Jill glanced at the young company guard. He was dressed in the same black combat uniform as Jill and the others; it was he who had raised his weapon when Jill came out earlier. After decades of development, Umbrella Corporation had established very comprehensive regulations, and its members and employees all knew what they were supposed to do.
"Oh. No need, thank you for your kindness. I'm just feeling very troubled by the Hydra matter, so I came out for a walk to clear my head and get some peace and quiet," Jill said calmly to the guard.
"Yes, sir. How long are you going to be gone? Commander Alfred doesn't want anyone out for too long at night," the guard said cautiously to Jill. What Jill didn't know was that Alfred had a purpose in doing this. Villagers infected with parasites. Sometimes they would attack the guards outside the base.
“No, I’ll be back in a bit.” Jill walked down the stairs into the hall, where the guards and soldiers at the door saluted her, and she politely returned their salute.
The guard helped open the outer door, and a gust of cold wind blew in, making Jill shiver. The temperature difference between day and night in Africa is significant; it's hot during the day and cool at night. The guards outside the base don't rest at night either. Rows of soldiers patrolled back and forth, and Humvees drove intermittently from the base gate. Searchlights on the watchtowers moved back and forth. Jill walked towards the quieter radar area of the base, hoping to find a place to sit and observe. As she walked, a huge reflective radar antenna came into view, rotating back and forth. Then she noticed someone below the radar station who seemed to be thinking, so she went over. After all, Jill thought it was a quiet and good place. Jill looked up and realized that the person was Alice.
“I have a habit of being alone and quiet every day. Quietness allows me to think about many things,” Alice said to Jill softly.
"I'm a little upset because of what's been going on lately," Alice said, frowning.
“Me too, we’re going on a rescue mission tomorrow. What will happen when we get there? By the way, I have a question, I don’t know if you know the answer.” Jill asked Alice with a puzzled look.
"What's the problem? Is it related to Hydra?" Alice asked.
Jill immediately became interested and said to Alice, "Yes, have you heard of 'Project Hydra'? I've always been puzzled by this project."
“I’ve heard of Project Hydra. As the supervisor, I found a half-finished file while reviewing Umbrella’s reports. It’s a new company plan. The rest is illegible, but the title is ‘Project Hydra Execution Document,’ stamped with the company seal and the words ‘Confidential Document’ in large print. The contents are… I’ll only mention the few sentences I can make out: using the virus obtained from Hydra to develop their technology, then harvesting their biotechnology, making Hydra invest all their funds, manpower, and resources in virus research. I’ve been thinking about this for so long, I should have some ideas by now. Don’t doubt that this is a company plan,” Alice said earnestly to Jill.
"And then what? Did the company have any other plans? If I could, I'd like to find an opportunity to destroy Hydra. Raccoon City was destroyed by that damned organization. The company's research results were also used by those guys to destroy them," Jill said angrily to Alice.
"Yes, this company was indeed careless. But the remedial measures are still quite good. Hydra's actions have already drawn the attention of the Justice League and S.H.I.E.L.D. We all know that the T-virus is infinitely dangerous, even more unstoppable than nuclear weapons. You could say the T-virus is a cheap nuclear weapon. Hydra's continued research on the T-virus can attract some attention. After all, although Captain America was created by the military and Umbrella Corporation, Umbrella Corporation still doesn't want to release the T-virus because its spread is extremely dangerous. The company also needs to increase its power, and Hydra Corporation still needs to be utilized." Alice said what had puzzled Jill, and Jill finally understood.
“That sounds like a good plan.” Jill nodded, indicating her approval of Umbrella Corporation’s plan.
"Okay, that's enough. Jill, we need to rest now, we have a mission tomorrow!" Alice said earnestly as she came out of the radar station.
“Jill, it’s getting late, it’s already 12 o’clock. The operation officially starts at 5 o’clock tomorrow, and we can only have breakfast on the helicopter. I don’t want you to fall asleep and forget to open the parachute when we parachute in.” Alice smiled at Jill, showing a rare moment of humor.
"Okay, let's go back and rest!" Jill sat up, preparing to go back to her room to rest.
"Okay, that's all for now, Jill. Goodbye. We need to make sure tomorrow's mission goes smoothly. We can talk about this tomorrow. Go get some rest," Alice added one last time before preparing to leave.
Alice and Jill chatted for a while and then got sleepy, so they each went back to their houses. Tang Tian, of course, paid no attention to the situation in Africa; before leaving, he began selling some obsolete biological weapons to various organizations. General Ross of the military even used Tyrant and Tracker to penetrate deep into the mutated area near Tokyo, launching a sustained operation against the mutated creatures after entering the area.
Chapter 328 Operation Begins
"We've obtained the Hulk's genes, and research on the Fantastic Four's genes has begun. We've also developed a bioweapon combining mutant genes and viral weapons." Tang Tian, who had been in the Marvel universe for decades, silently contemplated his gains.
"Sigh! It's still not enough. I will continue to work hard, I want to reach Zhang Min's level. However, compared to that, I am more like a lonely wanderer." Tang Tian muttered to himself, his fingers clenching tightly as he thought of Zhang Min, who had influenced him the most.
When Tang Tian first arrived in the Marvel Universe, he had almost nothing. At that time, he only relied on the terrifying power of his "Original Weapon" to obtain the Umbrella Corporation as a foundation. Furthermore, the fragments of the "Original Weapon" granted him the ability to travel through time and space, allowing Tang Tian to gradually thrive and transforming the Umbrella Corporation into a global super-corporation. Now, Tang Tian plans to travel to other movie dimensions, acquire new technologies, and his goal is to transcend the Marvel Universe and find Zhang Min.
Tang Tian didn't know where Zhang Min had gone, only that Zhang Min had traversed a higher dimension of spacetime. It seemed he had entered the core dimension searching for something. However, at that time, Tang Tian was engaged in a final battle with a level 6 dark god. Tang Tian fought desperately to kill the dark art god known as Lestan O. Then, after he collected all the "original artifacts," the main god appeared. Just as he obtained all the core components, the ultimate higher dimension left behind by Zhang Min injured the main god, and a portion of the power of the "original artifacts," along with his nearly destroyed soul, traveled to the Marvel universe.
Tang Tian didn't want to dwell on the past. His new plan was to travel to the Underworld, where the 'Perfect Blood' was extremely valuable, and werewolves and vampires were equally desirable. Perhaps Tang Tian could create a new army again—that was his idea.
"Hello. Commander Alfred! I'm Chris." That evening, Chris went to the secret meeting room as ordered by Alfred.
"Well, you're not bad, Chris. I'm here for something else. Do you understand?" Alfred said calmly to Chris.
“Yes, I understand, sir.” Chris glanced at his watch and realized it was past 8. However, he had clearly forgotten about the time difference.
"By the way, let's get down to business. Leon went to the Dubai Marsh to investigate the castle lord, but initially found nothing. That's all he had, and it didn't prove anything. But Leon wouldn't give up. Although we outwardly know nothing about the parasite's location, we've been to similar locations. I think Leon's disappearance might be because he must know something now," Alfred said thoughtfully.
"Furthermore, after several attacks by villagers infected with the parasite, and after questioning those people, as well as interrogating villagers who were not yet infected, the terrified expressions and trembling in their chairs made us realize that finding the answer was futile. So I specially invited a hypnotist, hoping to use his special meditative world to help the villager discover what he knew and thus obtain the answer. I had the hypnotist and the local villager alone for two and a half hours. The hypnotist was quite skilled, extracting some valuable information. After analysis by Death Hank, the conclusion was reached: the parasite's appearance was not part of Umbrella's original existence; it was sealed away in the Middle Ages. And the city lord, being the most powerful person in that religion, controlled the parasite's main body, which in turn controlled the other parasites." Alfred finally stated his opinion.
"Wait, sir, why are the parasites infecting the villagers instead?" Chris didn't believe Alfred's hypnotic words. Chris was uneasy, wondering if it was related to the mission.
"I haven't finished yet! It's been confirmed that the city lord wants to become the god of this world. They say he's qualified, and that advanced weapons like parasites can accelerate his plans, so we need to stop him. Even with the Justice League, it's better to eliminate such religions. The boss knows this too, and he doesn't care if we don't complete the mission; he's given us plenty of time. I think he knows about this. There's one more thing. There's a mole in the company. I heard you've already reported it to headquarters, which is excellent. However, you need to be extra careful! Don't trust anyone except your old partners and teammates. Okay, okay, after a while, the base will be monitoring our conversations. Meeting over. Remember, don't trust people you don't know. I wish you success on this mission." Alfred rattled off the recent events at the company to Chris.
"Okay, I understand. Goodbye, sir." It seems this is no small task. I should find some time to have a proper talk with Jill and Alice.
That evening, Chris went to the mirror and started shaving with the quick-drying shaving cream. Although he didn't pay much attention to what Alfred had said, he kept it in mind. This mission was still quite unusual.
Time flew by, and the next day soon began, which also meant their mission was about to begin.
"Is everyone here?" At the branch base's parade ground, Alfred looked at the number 5 on his wrist computer, which was displayed at the airport name.
"A bright future awaits you, warriors. I wish you success in your mission!" After Alfred finished speaking, Jill and Chris's team of 20 boarded the A-130 Hercules transport plane used for airdrops, with the Flying Terminator at its core. Alfred and a dozen other team members flew by helicopter to the pre-battle command post 20 miles east of the Dubai Marsh. He would be directing operations from there via radio and would immediately go to the rescue in case of any unexpected events.
Two hours after takeoff, Chris sat next to Jill. "Actually, the officer still hasn't explained to you clearly that the Dubai Marsh is a cursed place, originating from a terrifying parasite from the Middle Ages. Legend has it that it controlled most of history. Later, even today, the lord's village has a strong religious faith, with 'Lost Light' being the main religion, all because of the parasite." Jill found Chris's words quite amusing, but he still took them seriously.
Chris glanced at his gear: a Type 16 pistol with four magazines for a total of 150 rounds, and a Colt pistol with only three magazines—but that was already the most ammunition he carried. Jill had a shotgun, an AP sniper rifle, and no pistol. Alice had a pistol, but nothing else.
Alice's shooting skills are as superb as Jill's. With them on board, this operation will likely be much easier, as that's almost certain. However, Chris's eyes were fixed on the transport plane floor, holding a Type 16 pistol, occasionally shifting the safety with his thumb, clearly deep in thought.
"Ding." The red light next to the hatch lit up, signaling it was time to prepare to jump; they were almost over the target area. Jill woke Chris, and everyone took their designated positions.
"Ding." The cabin door opened, the green light came on, and the captain announced over the loudspeaker: "Good luck, God is with you, go forth, soldiers!"
Chapter 329 Rendezvous
When Chris was the last to jump off the plane, everyone was ready to carry out the mission. Twenty parachutes bloomed in the sky, like butterflies fluttering downwards.
After landing in the air, Jill looked down at the endless expanse of yellow sand. Apart from cacti, there wasn't a single other plant. It wasn't as bad as a desert, but it was about the same. Although a slight breeze was blowing, it couldn't dispel the scorching sun, something Chris was already used to. As one of the elite, adapting to this kind of climate was quite easy for him.
There are many places in Africa that are even hotter than this, which is nothing to the local natives and other team members, but it's really not cool for Chris and Jill, who are native Americans.
Watching the AC-130 Hercules transport plane disappear into the blue sky, they knew that for the time being, no one could help them.
Jill pulled the control rope to land smoothly, and everyone else landed safely except for Chris, who almost got caught on a cactus. Alice turned on the GPS to confirm that they had reached the designated location.
"This is command post. This is command post. This is Alfred. Please respond. Please respond. Over." Alfred's voice came through the command post.
"Received, received. This is Squad Leader A. Please speak, please speak. Over." Chris answered Alfred through the walkie-talkie.
Alfred continued, "You have reached your designated position. Mission begins. I have set up command post. Report back immediately if any incident occurs. I will maintain contact with you at all times. Over."
"Alright. Let's get started, guys." Among them, team member Williams seemed particularly enthusiastic.
And so, Chris, Tom, and Williams' A team headed south, preparing to enter the parasite-infected village from the west, while maintaining radio contact with the others. This mission consisted of one primary and one secondary objective, both crucial to them.
