Hearing Maria's words, he quickly nodded and said, "Oh, that's such a pity. Here's my business card. Give me a call later!" Since the other party wanted his phone number, he couldn't refuse, could he? He hoped that Maria Hill's busy work at S.H.I.E.L.D. would soften her attitude towards him a little.

Maria Hill took the business card and carefully put it away, saying, "Yes, I'm going to New York tonight too. I'll take you home."

Adam nodded and said, "Okay." After saying that, he followed the other person back onto the transport plane to prepare for their return.

Just then, Adam's watch vibrated slightly, and Athena's voice came through the earpiece: "Master, Mr. Wolverine Logan is calling. Are you going to answer?"

Adam gave Maria Hill an apologetic smile and said, "Sorry, I'll go answer the phone." He then walked aside and let Athena take the call.

“Hey Adam, I need your help!” Logan said as soon as he opened his mouth.

Adam paused for a moment, then asked, "Um, sure, what kind of help do you need? Should I look into your past?"

Logan then realized he had been a little too hasty and said, "No, I didn't know about this. It's like this, Rogue, the girl we met last time, has been captured by Magneto and is in mortal danger. We need your help, and we are on our way to Liberty Island."

After hearing this, Adam said, "I'm not in New York right now, but I'll be there soon, don't worry!" Then he hung up.

Chapter Thirty-Six: First Encounter

After Adam repaired the vulnerabilities he had left behind at S.H.I.E.L.D. and upgraded the existing defenses into the Aegis firewall, he was just about to return to New York with Maria Hill when he received a call from Logan.

During the phone call, Logan told him that the little girl he had met in Canada had been kidnapped by Magneto and was in mortal danger, and that he needed help.

After hearing this, Adam said, "I understand. I'm in Washington now, and I'll get there as soon as possible." He then hung up the phone and returned to Maria Hill's side.

After reading it, Maria Hill asked, "What's wrong? Is it a friend?"

Adam nodded and said, "Yes, I have a new friend who invited me out for drinks."

Maria Hill, unsuspecting, asked, "In New York?"

Adam laughed and said, "Yes, it's a friend I met abroad. We haven't seen each other for a long time. He came to New York today."

Maria Hill replied, "Oh, don't worry, it's nighttime now. We'll be in New York in about twenty minutes at most. You won't keep your friend waiting."

Upon hearing this, Adam said, "Really? Thank you so much. My friend doesn't like waiting."

Maria Hill laughed and said, "Hehe, what kind of friends do you know? They said they'd treat you to drinks but didn't even wait for you?"

Adam shrugged and said, "We fought once, and that's how we met."

Upon hearing this, Maria Hill exclaimed, "Friendship between men?!"

Adam nodded and said, "Yes, friendship between men."

---The plane flew away very fast---

As Maria Hill said, the plane did fly very fast on the way back. From Washington, D.C., to the military camp in New York, the plane flew directly for less than 20 minutes.

Once the plane came to a stop, Maria Hill smiled and said, "Hehe, it's been exactly 20 minutes. Hopefully, your friend hasn't left yet."

Adam said, "Thank you so much. It would take me at least an hour to get back by myself. Well, it seems you have work to do too. We'll keep in touch when we have time."

He saw Phil Coulson walking towards Maria Hill, indicating that S.H.I.E.L.D. had discovered Magneto's commotion.

Maria Hill turned around upon hearing this and saw Phil Coulson walking towards her. She said with some regret, "Alright, see you later. Do you need me to send you home?"

Adam shook his head and said, "Hey, Hill, you should know that New York is my territory, haha, goodbye." After saying that, he left Maria Hill in a very dashing manner and walked towards the gate of the military camp.

Although Adam was walking towards the door, he was using his super hearing to eavesdrop on Maria and Coulson's conversation.

Maria Hill asked, "Coulson, what happened?"

Phil Coulson said seriously, "The mutants attacked Ellis Island, and the boss is over there directing the battle. Now that you're back, come along."

Upon hearing the seriousness of the situation, Maria Hill quickly regained her usual capable demeanor and said, "Alright, let's set off immediately!" She then left with Phil Coulson.

Upon hearing this, Adam thought to himself, 'Wait, why didn't Logan tell me this? Don't they know about this either, or are the mutants in this attack from a third-party organization? Could it be those people from last time?'

With that in mind, Adam quickly left the military camp, hailed a taxi, gave a random destination, and then waited quietly.

About five minutes later, the car stopped, and Adam got out and went into a large shopping mall. He then changed into his battle uniform and headed straight for Liberty Island.

By the time Adam arrived at the Statue of Liberty, the battle inside was already over. Cyclops and Phoenix had been forced to face each other by Magneto and bound to the wall with copper bars. Cyclops' glasses had been taken away, so he had to keep his eyes tightly closed to avoid hurting Phoenix.

On the other side, Storm was also tied to the wall with copper bars. Since the others were also tied up there, Storm dared not use her powers to free herself, and could only glare resentfully at Sabretooth. Sabretooth, in turn, looked at Logan, who was also tied up in a strange position, with a bewildered expression.

Magneto, as expected of someone who has dedicated his life to the cause of mutants, merely tied up the X-Men to prevent them from making any rash moves, without killing them. This relieved Adam, who had just arrived.

Adam then went inside and said to Sabretooth, "Hey bro, are you guys having a party here?"

The X-Men and Logan, who were initially anxious and unsure of what to do, suddenly felt a glimmer of hope upon hearing Adam's words.

Logan said, "Hey bro, get me down here right now! Little Rascal could die up there! Hurry!!!"

Upon hearing this, the saber-toothed tiger sneered, "If you want to save people, fight me first!"

Adam sneered, "You think you can stop me from rescuing people? I'll show you how I do it!" With that, he unleashed a heat ray that severed the copper bars binding Logan, freeing him.

Upon seeing this, the saber-toothed tiger roared and pounced. Adam, with a sneer, followed suit, but the saber-toothed tiger possessed extraordinary strength, nearly knocking Adam away. This surprised Adam; he hadn't expected this unassuming beast to have such power.

Logan rescued the others and, seeing the situation, asked, "Hey, are you alright?"

Adam was unharmed, of course. He threw the saber-toothed tiger against the wall with a burst of strength and said, "I'm fine. I was a little careless just now. Maybe I've been having too much luck lately and underestimated my opponent!"

As soon as Adam finished speaking, he saw the saber-toothed tiger pounce on him again. He snorted coldly, swiftly reached out and grabbed the saber-toothed tiger, and roared as he threw it out through the hole above.

Adam clapped his hands and said, "Hmph, do you really think I'm a pushover?" He turned around and saw everyone staring at the sky in shock.

Adam walked over and asked, "What's wrong?" He then looked up at the sky, still unaware of why Magneto had captured Rogue.

Logan said anxiously, "Hey, see those white lights? That's a beam of light that can turn ordinary humans into mutants, but this forced evolution will destroy all the cells in a human's body and kill people."

Adam was startled upon hearing this, turned his head and used his X-ray vision to look outside, saying, "Hey, stop this thing right away, we're almost at Ellis Island."

Logan, upon hearing this, said, "Shoot that thing away quickly!"

"It's spinning too fast; shooting it now will hurt Rogue!" Cyclops then turned to Storm and said, "Auroro, send me up there!"

Storm shook her head and said, "I can't control the force; you might fall into the sea."

Adam was somewhat disappointed with the X-Men after hearing this, and said, "Forget it, let me do it. I can jump over there!" He then prepared to jump over, but Logan stopped him.

Logan said seriously, "You can't do it. You're not a mutant. We don't even know if this beam of light will harm you. It's too dangerous!"

Adam asked, "What should we do? If we don't hurry, everyone on Ellis Island will die!"

Logan suddenly said, "Throw me over there! I'll go and destroy that machine!"

Upon hearing this, Adam said, "Okay, pay attention, I'm starting!!" He then grabbed Logan by the belt and back and threw him out with a thud.

With a whoosh, Logan was thrown by Adam's immense strength, landing right above the machine on the torch, but he didn't fall down.

Phoenix asked after reading it, "What happened?"

Adam, with the best eyesight, said, "Damn it, Magneto stopped him."

Storm asked, "What should we do now?"

LaserEyes said gravely, "We can only shoot that machine! We don't have time!" He then began adjusting the power of the laser beam.

Adam looked at it and said coldly, "Don't shoot that machine, shoot Magneto! Ms. Jean, give Logan a hand and push him in!"

Upon hearing this, Cyclops reduced the power of his laser beam and instead shot Magneto in the back, knocking him unconscious.

Phoenix then pressed her right hand to her forehead, staring intently at Logan in mid-air. Using telekinesis, she gave Logan a push, allowing him to easily enter the torch. He then extended a pair of adamantium claws and destroyed the machine in two swift movements.

The crisis is over, and the little rascal has been rescued!

Chapter Thirty-Seven: The Unresolved Bill

After receiving Logan's call, Adam rushed to the Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island and, together with the X-Men, successfully destroyed Magneto's machine, thwarting Magneto's plot.

After the machine was destroyed, Adam and Phoenix waited down there for a long time, but Logan and Rogue didn't come down.

Storm asked with some concern, "Could something have happened to them?" She then prepared to follow them to the corner.

Adam chuckled and said, "Hey, don't bother them. They're having a romantic time up there. I didn't expect Logan to be such a womanizer. So that's his type."

Phoenix asked in confusion, "What? What are they doing?"

Seeing the serious expressions on everyone's faces, Adam said, "Oh, I was saying they're hugging, maybe even kissing. Are you going to ruin their relationship?"

Storm's expression changed immediately upon hearing this, and she said, "No, Logan used his power to save Rogue. If we don't separate them, Logan might die!"

Adam was immediately shocked and asked, "What? What's going on?"

Phoenix explained, "Rogue's mutant ability is to absorb other people's mutant abilities for his own use. And because Rogue can't control it, he will absorb the target's life force as well. So Logan might be in danger right now. You should quickly separate them. As long as you don't touch Rogue's skin, you won't have your life force absorbed by her ability!"

Adam nodded and said, "Okay, I'll go right now!"

Adam leaped onto the torch of the Statue of Liberty. Sure enough, Logan and Little Rascal were huddled together. Little Rascal's complexion was improving, but Logan had lost even his basic healing abilities and was bleeding profusely. Adam quickly separated them and jumped off the torch with them.

Seeing Adam come down, everyone quickly came over. Phoenix checked Logan's condition and said, "His condition is quite serious. His healing ability has temporarily stopped working, and he needs treatment."

Adam looked at the little rascal and said, "And what about her? She's not here, right?"

Because of the loss of life force, two strands of Little Rascal's hair had turned completely white. Although this added to Little Rascal's charm, Adam was still worried about her safety. After all, she was someone he knew, and he couldn't let anything happen to someone Logan valued so much.

Phoenix shook her head and said, "She's fine. She'll recover after a rest. But we have to leave, or Logan will be in danger."

Adam nodded and said, "Alright then, you guys go ahead. There are still some mutants attacking the police and S.H.I.E.L.D. on Ellis Island. I'm going to help them."

Storm was taken aback and said, "Could it be that Magneto had a trick up his sleeve?"

Adam shook his head and said angrily, "I took a look and they are all civilians. It should be the same as the last incident. They are being controlled by someone. I have to get there quickly, otherwise more people will die for no reason."

The laser-eyed man had already parked the fighter jet at the door, then came out and said, "Hey, I've brought the fighter jet over. Let's hurry back. I wonder how the professor is doing."

Upon hearing this, Adam asked, "Huh? Did something happen to Professor X? How could that be? He's so powerful!"

Phoenix glanced at Magneto and said, "The professor has been tricked by them, but he's not in immediate danger."

Storm asked, "What about Magneto? We can't leave him here."

Just then, after a series of footsteps, Maria Hill, dressed in a black uniform, approached and said to Cyclops and the others, "Magneto's crime this time is very serious. He almost stirred up an international conflict, so we still need our national resources..."
