Adam laughed and said, "Great idea! I'll book a plane as soon as I leave here, and then I can invite you to come and visit."

Maria Hill shook her head and said, "That won't do, Adam. I'm very busy with work. Okay, we've arrived at headquarters. Let's go down."

Adam stepped off the plane and found himself inside the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, a huge airfield with more than a dozen of the latest American fighter jets and two transport planes, as well as countless soldiers and workers in camouflage or work clothes busily doing something.

Adam said to Maria Hill, "Your place is really big. I have no idea what kind of organization you are."

Maria Hill shook her head and said, "This is a secret, Adam. Your father didn't tell us to tell you this. He said you were exposed to these things too early."

Adam suddenly realized that his father was probably protecting him, and laughed, "Alright, since that's the case, I won't ask any more questions. Arrange a place for me to work and get started."

Maria Hill hadn't smiled since arriving at headquarters. With a cold expression, she said indifferently, "Alright, come with me. We've already prepared everything for you." After saying that, she led Adam into the elevator, which stopped on the eighteenth floor.

Adam followed Maria Hill to the office provided to him by S.H.I.E.L.D., which contained several computers. Adam smiled and said, "You're very well prepared. Alright, Hill, go ahead and do your work. I'll plug all the loopholes for you soon and then update the defense system."

Maria Hill nodded and said, "Okay, just press that switch if you need anything, just say so. See you later!"

Adam waved and said, "Okay, goodbye!" Then he sat down in a chair and started typing on the keyboard.

While Adam was fixing the loopholes he had left behind at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, the following scene was unfolding at Xavier's School of the Rising Sun.

Mystique used her powers to infiltrate Xavier's School for the 1990s, then found Mary, disguised as the Iceman, and said some hurtful things that made Mary feel that staying at Xavier's School for the 1990s was a mistake. As a result, Mary left Xavier's School for the 1990s in tears.

Logan, who had some of his mutant powers absorbed by Mary, recovered and was about to find Mary to comfort her when he discovered that Mary had already left Xavier's School of the Arts.

This made him very angry, and he almost got into a fight with Cyclops.

Professor X said, "It's not far from here, but you can't go!"

Logan ignored Professor X and asked, "Why? Are you letting Mary leave alone?"

Professor X explained, "Magneto is in that place, and your skeleton is all metal, which makes you vulnerable to him. You can't defeat him!"

Logan had long forgotten his memories, so he didn't recognize Magneto at all. He sneered, "We'll have to fight him to find out!" Then he left the office, ignoring Professor X's advice.

Soon, Phoenix and the others entered the office; they had been summoned by Professor X.

"Scott and Ororo, you two go to the train station to help Logan, and then bring Little Rascal over."

Cyclops and Storm nodded and left the office. Phoenix asked, "Professor, what about me?"

After hearing this, Professor X said, "Prepare the car. I'll go to the train station with you. Those guys are no match for Magneto; they need our help."

Phoenix nodded and said, "Okay, Professor!" Then she walked out.

Just as Professor X had predicted, when they arrived at the train station, the X-Men had already been defeated by Magneto and his henchmen, and the train station was surrounded by police, who were coldly preparing to kill the officers.

"Professor!" Phoenix called out to Professor X upon seeing the situation.

Professor X smiled slightly and said, "Don't worry, nothing will happen!" After saying that, he glanced at Sabretooth standing next to Magneto and instantly subdued him.

Magneto, unaware that his subordinates had been controlled, looked contemptuously at the police officers pointing guns at him and sneered, "Do you really think these toys of yours will provide you with protection?" With that, he waved his hand, causing the police officers' guns to levitate in mid-air, and then turned around to point them at them.

Just then, Sabretooth suddenly grabbed Magneto by the neck and said, "Let them go!"

Magneto was startled, wondering why Saber-toothed Tiger would attack him.

On the other side, Toad turned around and said, "Enough, Eric, let them go. You've already lost!"

Magneto suddenly realized what was happening and exclaimed, "Charles! My old friend, since you're here, why don't you greet me!"

Professor X, however, did not want to meet Magneto. He controlled Sabretooth, making him tighten his grip, and said, "Leave, Eric!"

Meanwhile, the toad, also under Professor X's control, led Mary toward the back of the police.

Magneto looked at it and said coldly, "You can't threaten me, Charles. I don't believe you would kill me!" After saying that, he controlled a pistol and fired a shot.

Professor X was shocked when he saw this. He was about to have Storm block the bullet when he discovered that the bullet was hovering silently an inch above the policeman's forehead, and the policeman was also immobilized. Magneto had controlled the bullet himself to threaten Professor X.

Magneto, after looking at the document, said, "Either let me go, or let all these people die! Don't test my patience, Charles! You know me!" He then ordered all the guns hovering in the air to be loaded and ready to fire.

Professor X knew Magneto was a man of his word, so he had no choice but to release his control over Sabretooth and Toad. Magneto laughed and said, "Charles, I knew you would do this. You can't bear to shed blood; that's your fatal weakness!"

Professor X sat quietly in the car without replying.

At that moment, Mystique landed her helicopter on an open field, and Magneto, along with Toad, Sabretooth, and Mary, left the train station in a very dashing manner. In this confrontation, Professor X lost, and lost miserably.

Phoenix asked, "What should we do?"

Professor X said, "Let's find Scott and Ororo, then go back to the school and discuss it further."

Phoenix used her powers to locate Scott and Ororo, then telepathically told them her location, instructing them to bring Logan with them. Upon hearing Phoenix's message, Cyclops and Storm found Logan, who was pinned to the train by Magneto, and returned to Professor X's side.

Luo looked at Professor X and said, "You're wrong. Magneto isn't looking for me, he's looking for Mary! I need to save her!"

Chapter Thirty-Five: Logan's Phone Call

After hearing Logan's words, Professor X said, "We just found out about Magneto's target, but let's go back first and talk about it when we get back to the school."

Logan realized this wasn't the place to discuss things, so he said, "Alright, I'll go back with you."

X College, Professor X's office.

Professor X looked at Logan apologetically and said, "I'm sorry, Logan, we didn't know beforehand that Magneto's target was Rogue."

Logan shook his head and said, "This is not the time to talk about this. We need to go and save Mary."

Professor X said, "I know, but we need to know Magneto's purpose before we can act."

Logan shook his head and said, "I don't care about any of that! If you won't come, I'll come find you!" With that, he walked out of the office.

Upon seeing this, Storm said, "I'll go and talk to him!" She then ran out as well, but soon returned somewhat flustered.

"Professors, come and take a look, Congressman Kelly, he..."

Upon hearing this, Professor X and the others rushed over and found Senator Kelly lying on the observation platform, pale and soaking wet. Logan was standing beside him. The senator was completely unable to speak, his eyes fixed on Professor X.

After examining Senator Kelly's memories, Professor X said with a grave expression, "Things are not looking good. Ororo, you stay here and take care of him. We'll go back and discuss this." With that, he led everyone back to his office.

Logan frowned and asked, "What exactly happened?"

Professor X said, "Magneto created a machine that could force humans to evolve into mutants, but this forced change would damage human genes."

Phoenix continued, "Moreover, Senator Kelly's body cells have been completely destroyed; he won't live much longer!"

After hearing this, Cyclops asked, "Is this dangerous for mutants?"

Professor X shook his head and said, "There is no danger, but it is a deadly thing for ordinary humans. We must stop Magneto."

Logan clapped his hands and exclaimed, "Damn it, I know why Magneto caught Rogue!"

Professor X thought for a moment and realized the reason. He said with a serious expression, "That's right, I've thought of it too. He wants to use Rogue's ability to have her activate the machine in his place, because Magneto almost died when he activated the machine last time!"

Logan immediately panicked and said, "We have to go save her!"

Professor X nodded and said, "Okay, we'll find them!" After saying that, he went back into the room where the brainwave enhancement machine was located and put on the brainwave enhancement machine.

Phoenix glanced at the unconscious Professor X, recalling his past teachings to her, and gritted her teeth, deciding to risk using the brainwave enhancement machine to find out where Rogue and the others were. So Phoenix quietly went out, leaving Cyclops to stay with Professor X alone.

By the time Cyclops sensed something was wrong and came out, Phoenix had already used the brainwave enhancement machine and, enduring excruciating pain, finally located Rogue and Magneto's purpose.

Cyclops rushed in, helped Phoenix up, and said with concern, "Jean, how are you? Are you alright? How could you risk using the brainwave enhancement machine?"

Phoenix smiled slightly and said, "Scott, I've found Magneto's purpose!"

Cyclops affectionately stroked Phoenix's hair and said, "Alright, let's go find them!" Then he helped Phoenix go find Logan and Storm.

As Cyclops helped Phoenix into the living room, Storm had already convinced Wolverine to join them. Seeing Phoenix covered in sweat, Storm asked her with concern what had happened.

Phoenix smiled slightly and said, "I've already found Little Rascal's location!"

Logan opened his mouth, then finally said thank you. When he first arrived, Phoenix had mentioned that she couldn't use the brainwave enhancer yet, as it was too dangerous for her. He hadn't expected her to risk her life using it and successfully locate Rogue. This made him admire this quiet, beautiful woman.

Phoenix smiled at Logan, then said seriously, "Alright, we now know Magneto's target: the multinational conference tonight on Ellis Island. He plans to use that machine on Liberty Island, and if Magneto succeeds, he will kill all the ordinary humans in New York. So we must stop them!"

After hearing this, Aurora said, "If we could contact Xia Ying, we would have another helper."

Logan was taken aback when he heard this, realizing he had almost forgotten about this friend. He laughed and said, "I have Xia Ying's phone number. I'll call him right now."

Phoenix Girl was taken aback and asked, "How did you get his phone number? Do you know who he is?"

Logan smiled and said, "I promised him I'd keep it a secret!" He then left to call Adam.

Just as Logan was about to call Adam, Adam had finished his work and pressed the button to summon Maria Hill.

Maria Hill walked in and asked, "Is it finished?"

Adam laughed and said, "I told you it would be quick! You can send your base's people to attack it and test its defenses."

Maria Hill replied, "No need, I trust your abilities!"

Adam laughed and said, "Oh, then thank you for your trust, Hill. If this guy I call Aegis has any problems in the future, just give me a call."

Maria Hill nodded and said, "Okay, so do you need me to take you back to New York now?"

Adam feigned disappointment and said, "Oh? Aren't you going to treat me to dinner?"

Maria Hill said somewhat awkwardly, "Sorry, I have work tonight. Well, how about this, you leave your phone number, and I'll arrange a time to meet you!"

She would be happy to have dinner with this talented and handsome man, but tonight happens to be the busiest time for S.H.I.E.L.D., so she can't be there.

Actually, Adam was just being habitually flirtatious. He regretted it as soon as he said it because he finally remembered that he had a girlfriend. Just as he was feeling remorseful, Maria Hill rejected him, which made him breathe a sigh of relief.
