Love, Gun, Cupid

Lin Jiade's identification wasn't the most accurate, but he had the simplest way of casting the detection spell among the three users: he would take out a pre-prepared potion, apply it to his eyelids, and look up after a few seconds.
This gave the onlookers the illusion that "I could do it too." Lin Jiade generously shared some of the potion with them, but without exception, they all felt as if they had applied Tiger Balm.
In terms of feeling alone, Lin Jiade felt as if he had applied chili oil. After looking at it for too long, the burning sensation on his eyelids turned into a burning sensation, and Lin Jiade's eyes became blurred with tears.
Having lost his sight, he became extremely vulnerable. At that moment, someone grabbed his hand, and he obediently followed. He was then guided to touch the faucet, which led him to the sink.
After washing off the potion, Lin Jiade felt much refreshed. He looked up and saw that the person who had brought him there was Hehuan.
Hehuan offered him a handkerchief, which Lin Jiade was hesitant to accept. However, she took a step forward and held the handkerchief closer, pursing her lips and looking at him with a reproachful gaze.
Unfortunately, she was also tall, so when Lin Jiade looked at her at eye level, there were other things in the frame that couldn't be ignored, making him look at her with some concern.
Men are always promiscuous. Lin Jiade's love for tails doesn't mean he only likes tails; after all, he's a promiscuous man.
He looked away, thanked her softly, took the handkerchief and wiped his face, the faint fragrance filling his nostrils.
When returning the item, to avoid giving the other person an impolite look, Lin Jiade casually asked, "Did I do a good job?"
"Yes, they have a good opinion of you, saying you're suitable for a job that doesn't require high precision and involves rapid testing. So you'll also have the opportunity to earn extra money on the side in the future," Hehuan replied.
What about your job?
"My task is to conduct the feng shui analysis of the locations the suspect provides after their interrogation, in order to determine the danger level of those locations."
Hehuan stuffed the handkerchief back into her pocket, and the two walked out. After a few steps, she suddenly turned back and said, "I'm personally very happy that you can join the club."
"Ok?"
“I’m a little tall,” Hehuan touched the top of her head. “I’ve always been like this since I was little. Boys feel pressured when they talk to me, and they even avoid me when I wear high heels.”
Lin Jiade deeply agreed: "Yes, I also scared the girls in my department because of my height."
"So, I'm glad that my junior's size makes me look smaller. It sounds a bit strange, but I think petite girls are cuter."
Lin Jiade immediately understood Hehuan's style of dress; it was simply her personal preference.
"You and Jasmine are very close?" Hehuan asked.
"Well, let's just call each other friends for now."
"Just friends?" Hehuan teased. "The way you look at her, the way she looks at you, is completely different from how she looks at us."
Lin Jiade was taken aback: "Is it that obvious?"
"Yes, obviously. There's one more thing I think we should say now: the way Jasmine is being treated here might give you the impression that we're bullying her."
Hehuan sighed and continued, "I don't know why, but we made her feel dangerous, so she took the initiative to distance herself from us."
If we get too close, she'll think we want to harm her and become even more wary.
Lin Jiade explained, "She has some paranoia because of what happened in the past."
"But you're different. You're special in her eyes. In the car, you were almost always pressed against her, and she didn't make any defensive moves against you."
Lin Jiade was overjoyed: "She likes me?"
Hehuan thought about it seriously: "I think she may not understand what liking someone means, but without a doubt, you are the special one."
Lin Jiade celebrated his goal with a "Yay!"
Hehuan touched the index fingers of both hands together: "I wish you two could become such a relationship. That girl is very weak and needs a cheerful and sunny emotional support."
"Thank you, senior. I will strive to become that kind of person!"
Hehuan changed the subject: "However, being with her will also be very difficult. If you don't have that awareness, it's better to give up sooner rather than later. It's better for both of you."
Lin Jiade's expression turned serious: "Thank you for your guidance, senior."
Hehuan smiled shyly: "I wouldn't call it giving advice, I just hope you'll be happy. My interest is in seeing people I know get together as couples."
So you're a pairing addict? Lin Jiade suddenly realized, no wonder you were trying to set me up with Jasmine on the very first day we met.
Everyone has one or two hobbies, and Lin Jiade can tolerate Senior Sister Hehuan's hobby, especially since it is beneficial to him.
When he went outside, he saw Kapok and Jasmine, who had regained her disguise, sitting on either side of a bench. In the bustling police station, their figures looked particularly lonely.
Without thinking, he went to get disposable paper cups and filled four cups with warm water in two batches. He first gave the water to the kapok and mimosa trees, and then he took two cups of water and sat down next to the jasmine.
Jasmine was memorizing history; it was difficult for her, a person from a western province, to remember the names and events of an eastern province, which were full of cultural barriers.
Lin Jiade didn't disturb her. He would sometimes look towards the corridor, and sometimes at Jasmine's serious profile.
Surprisingly, there was even a werewolf in the police station. The policewoman's pointed animal ears and fluffy gray tail stunned Lin Jiade.
However, the existence of the alien race is kept secret from the public, so the werewolf policewoman can only act in her true form inside the police station.
Lin Jiade was laughing like a rich landlord's silly son when he suddenly felt a push in his waist, and his vision swayed forward. He looked at Jasmine, puzzled, who asked, "What's wrong?"
"Didn't you bump into me?" Lin Jiade thought to himself.
He didn't dwell on it and continued watching the policewoman's big tail. Jasmine's cane fell and hit his knee, almost triggering a knee-jerk reflex.
The CP leader next to her, Senior Sister Hehuan, covered her mouth and laughed. Lin Jiade straightened Jasmine's cane, looked at Jasmine's profile without blinking, and stared intently.
Jasmine looked down at her electronic homework, showing no expression, but Lin Jiade clearly saw a bright red rose appear and spread on her pale cheeks, quickly covering her entire face.
She glanced up at Lin Jiade, then quickly looked down, raising her phone to cover her face. But how could such a small phone hide her loss of composure?
Just as Lin Jiade was about to take out his phone to take a picture, he felt a delicate fragrance waft from behind him. He turned his head and saw that Senior Sister Hehuan's wrist was resting on his shoulder. She raised her phone and took a precious photo of Jasmine blushing shyly.
"I'll send it to you when I get back," said Senior Hehuan.
Lin Jiade gave a thumbs up, turned around and looked at Jasmine. Jasmine leaned close and stared at him without moving, which quickly made him blush.
Jasmine raised her phone, and Lin Jiade had time to dodge, but Hehuan, the senior student behind him, restrained him. Unintentionally, his back was brushed against by Hehuan's body.
His heart skipped a beat, and his reaction slowed down, allowing Jasmine to capture his shy expression.
Chapter Forty: Outsiders
This is a police station, a very serious place, so Lin Jiade's playfulness stopped after a short while. He helped Jasmine with her homework, while Senior Sister Hehuan put on her headphones and shared the same video with Mumian; everyone gained something from it.
Two hours later, Jasmine checked her homework and sent it online. Most of the homework was automatically checked by the system, while a few were graded by the teacher personally.
Technology is advancing rapidly, forever changing the face of society. Looking at the high school photos in Jasmine's album, Lin Jiade could hardly believe that they had attended the same school, and for a moment his eyes were filled with envy, jealousy and resentment.
Jasmine added mercilessly, "The teacher said that after your graduating class, the next class will have these new facilities installed, and the old ones will be used in the rural middle schools."
Lin Jiade retorted, "It's okay, the school uniforms will look even uglier after we leave."
This time it was Jasmine's turn to wear the mask of pain, and their relationship was strengthened through mutual persecution.
Two hours later, Lin Jiade was called in to identify the last suspect, the alien who possessed a level 3B magic. He had been dealt with separately after being knocked down by Mu Mian and had only just regained consciousness. He was handcuffed to a chair and taken into the interrogation room.
Lin Jiade applied the potion and saw that the middle-aged man in his field of vision had bone wings unfolding. His hands remained human-shaped, but his legs were like those of a lizard, surrounded by a white light mixed with gold.
Because they had briefly fought with him, the other group members also came to watch. When they heard Lin Jiade's description, Jasmine's expression changed, and she whispered, "It's a servant of the White Dragon."
Soon, the police station's forensic experts provided a more accurate assessment. Everyone looked at Jasmine, while the man locked in the interrogation room also raised his head and looked thoughtfully in Jasmine's direction.
In theory, with the one-way glass in the interrogation room, the detained suspect shouldn't be able to see anything, but Lin Jiade felt that the person was looking at Jasmine.
As expected, a fanatical expression appeared on the man's originally haggard face. He tried to stand up, but the special restraints prevented him from doing so. He tried to use magic, but it had no effect other than putting on a mask of pain.
So, he writhed with the chair in a strange posture, leaned forward, pressed his cheek against the glass and desperately looked in Jasmine's direction, his features contorted and drool dripping from the corner of his mouth, like a dog smelling meat.
The side door opened, and police officers carrying riot gear entered and subdued him. Even as he was being dragged away, he kept his eyes fixed on Jasmine.
Lin Jiade looked at Jasmine with concern, but Jasmine remained expressionless, her hands clenched tightly.
All of this couldn't escape the surveillance cameras, and Jasmine was politely asked to go over and explain herself. Kapok and Albizia sat together whispering, and Lin Jiade didn't dare to ask them anything. He sat alone to the side, feeling even more depressed.
After waiting another hour, Jasmine returned. At 11 p.m., they finally left the police station. Hehuan bought four late-night snacks. She and Mumian shared one, Jasmine shared one, and Lin Jiade was given two.
“Boys usually eat a lot, so they don’t have to worry about us. It would be really hard for them to go to bed hungry,” Hehuan said.
The senior student meant well, and Lin Jiade was indeed hungry, but after calculating the calories of the two late-night snacks, he couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
On the way back, the car was very quiet. Mumian was focused on driving, Hehuan was dozing off, and Moli was looking down at her knees. Each of them lived in their own world, so Lin Jiade also became an outsider.
Unfortunately, there are no outsiders in this world.
Kapok escorted them to the door. Seeing Hehuan sleeping soundly in the front seat, practically drooling, Lin Jiade gently got out of the car and noticed Jasmine staring blankly. He then went over and touched Jasmine's shoulder.
Jasmine, still a little dazed, grabbed his hand and got out of the car. The neighborhood was quiet at 11:30 p.m. Most of the residential buildings blended into the night, and the lights of a few households were like stars scattered in the night sky, guiding people home.
Jasmine was preoccupied with her thoughts. It wasn't until she stepped into the residential area and a stray cat darted past her from behind that she looked up. She first looked at Lin Jiade, who was accompanying her, and then at the hand that Lin Jiade was gently holding.
She tried to gently break free, but Lin Jiade gripped her even tighter. Jasmine didn't try again because Lin Jiade's palm was warm, and a force was coming from it, supporting her body from being eroded by the cold and becoming numb.
The two walked hand in hand to the elevator, and before the elevator went up, she said, "Thank you."
"It's nothing, I just wanted to do this, so I took action."
Lin Jiade laughed and said, "We're busy tomorrow, Friday, so let's go out together on Saturday afternoon. It'll be a perfect way to seamlessly connect with our evening tutoring sessions."
Jasmine looked at him for a moment and asked, "Is this... a date?"
Lin Jiade nodded: "You can understand it that way, but considering your mobility issues, I will only take you to the nearby community library, where the learning atmosphere is great."
Then we can go see a movie, and afterwards we can go eat; there happens to be a nice restaurant nearby.
Just wondering beforehand, do you have any dietary restrictions?
Jasmine shook her head, and Lin Jiade gave her a thumbs up: "A good child who doesn't pick and choose her food."
Jasmine retorted, "So, are you a picky, bad kid?"
"Yes, I am a bad boy, and I will eat you up whenever I get the chance."
Lin Jiade made a wild, aggressive gesture, and Jasmine covered her mouth, a smile playing on her lips. But soon, her smile faded.
"Lin Jiade, I have something to discuss..."
“Du Juan didn’t tell me anything. She said I needed an answer from you,” Lin Jiade said. “If you’re hesitant, then there’s no need to say anything, but I’ll wait for that answer.”
Jasmine nodded vigorously. Under Lin Jiade's gaze, she opened the door. Just as the door closed and Lin Jiade was about to turn around and take the elevator downstairs, the door opened again, and a strand of crimson hair peeked out. Jasmine herself hid behind the door.
"Is there anything else?" Lin Jiade asked.
"Good night, see you tomorrow," Jasmine said.
The girl's voice was very soft, but it weighed heavily on Lin Jiade's heart. He replied with a radiant smile, "Okay, see you tomorrow!"
The crimson hair retreated, and the door closed. Lin Jiade took the elevator down and returned home. A pair of jade-like hands reached out from his chest, and Cupid detached from his body, throwing him onto the sofa.
Cupid accompanied Lin Jiade throughout, which was her last resort to save her life. She invoked the Celestial Law, the Homo sapiens Assistance Act, which allowed her to intervene urgently to provide assistance to Lin Jiade when she was on a mission as a member of the Empire—assistance primarily aimed at ensuring her personal safety.
