From Azkaban to Hogwarts.

"Hufflepuff had just managed to get a temporary lead in points, and then suddenly the gems flew off the ground—the prefects were stunned, and they ran all over the common room looking for who had so many points deducted!"
"You're holding Gryffindor troublemakers accountable and deducting Hufflepuff's points—if I hadn't personally guided you from first year to graduation, I would have thought you were a Gryffindor professor!"
William recognized the voice of the angry female professor inside; it was Professor Sprout, the headmistress of Hufflepuff, a witch who was usually quite kind.
But she was clearly really angry today.
William imagined himself in that professor's position and realized he would probably be even angrier.
Well, the class monitors of their own college discovered that a large number of points had been deducted, and after frantically searching for a long time, they couldn't find the culprit. In the end, the helpless class monitors had no choice but to go to the dean to report. The dean then checked the records himself and found that the person who deducted the points was a student who had graduated from their own college.
Once this scene came to mind, William no longer felt that Adams was wronged.
-
"That's how it is. Poor Adams got a lecture for a whole hour. He's really unlucky to have his college points deducted so frequently."
During dinner at Professor Taylor's house, Professor Taylor laughed and told his wife about the funny things that happened at school during the day—just because he had finally managed to fix Afra's braids, Professor Taylor felt that he hadn't done anything wrong.
"Haha, now that you mention it, I'd like to go see it too. I've never seen Professor Sprout scolding anyone during my time at Hogwarts—Afra, what are you doing?"
"Mom is eating chocolate."
Afra handed over a whole, unopened piece of chocolate, which immediately stopped Professor Taylor, who was watching from the side, from laughing—where's mine?
"Ah! A bug... a bug!"
A florid caterpillar was clinging to the chocolate, and Afra snatched it back with lightning speed—"This is a new friend I met today, someone I met in the Forbidden Forest."
Afra's tone was cheerful.
But soon, Professor Taylor's house was filled with the sound of children crying and his explanations.
Chapter 102 Notes and the Wolf Fang UFO
"Good morning, Adams. I'm going to Gringotts today, want to come along?"
"No, I have other things to do."
"A date? That can't be right. You're at school all day long, and not even an owl has come looking for you—could it be that you've made a move on a student? That's a big no-no! Aren't you afraid Professor McGonagall will kill you?"
Although Dumbledore is the undisputed number one in the castle, both professors and students are well aware of one thing: in this castle, the one who truly holds sway is Minerva.
"Shut up, William."
Adams poked at the fried egg on his plate with annoyance, his face full of displeasure.
"A whole report—why is it so much harder to reverse a deduction than to deduct one? Can't the school improve that magic hourglass for adding points?"
'Is reporting and revoking cheating records in the exam room really that difficult? Besides, those devices are antiques left over from when the school was built. Since they've never had a problem, who would dare to take them apart and fix them? What if they can't be fixed?'
But this kind of complaint is obviously not suitable to say out loud—just like that hat that hasn't been washed for almost a thousand years, who knows if this system will become sentient after a thousand years, and what if it holds a grudge?
If Hogwarts' grading system stopped responding to a professor's points while remaining unchanged for others, most people would probably think the school should expel that professor instead of replacing the magic hourglass—this has never happened in the school's nearly thousand-year history. Who could withstand the weight of a thousand years of history?
"Calm down, Adams. In the end, it was your mistake that was too big. You should have canceled it when you sent the person to register, but you forgot. So much time has passed, it's not unreasonable to issue a report."
William patted him on the shoulder, offering one last look of sympathy.
-
“Mr. William, this is your vault.”
The goblins in Gringotts were very polite—but William was too tired to thank them.
If the fairy named Key were to allow William to assume it was male, then William would give the gentleman full marks for his service—though he was already on the verge of vomiting.
'Was the transportation system in this underground vault designed like a roller coaster? Even Need for Speed wouldn't dare to operate it like this!'
Having finally regained some strength, William quickly pulled a mint from his pocket, put it in his mouth, and tried to suppress the nausea.
Half an hour ago, when he arrived at Diagon Alley with Floo Powder, he complained that the comfort level of Floo Powder was completely commensurate with its low price—but after arriving at Gringotts' underground vault, he realized that even if you bet your entire fortune, you'll still get carsick in the wizarding world.
"Are you ready? If it's alright, I'll open the vault door for you right now?"
Okay, thanks.
William responded with difficulty—the thought of having to take the same mode of transportation back made him afraid to relax any longer, and he feared he would lose the courage to go back.
William unlocked the door with the key without any awkwardness, and then saw for the first time the property that truly belonged to him.
'Natt, Natt, and more Natt.'
The piles of money, though barely visible in gold, weren't very tall. Although the original owner had tried hard to make his vault look like it wasn't opened with a one-dollar savings account, it was clear that the place was indeed barren.
'All of them combined don't even amount to what I brought out of Azkaban.'
As William assessed the weight of these nutts, he regained a profound understanding of his own poverty.
Fortunately, there were other things—a dozen or so experimental records and seven or eight spellbooks, as well as potion containers that were well wrapped up and whose condition was now indistinguishable—if William remembered correctly, this set of containers, including the crucible, was custom-made.
Since William was carrying a bag that had been enchanted with a traceless expansion spell, he simply stuffed all these things into it.
"Alright, that's all. Let's go back now."
William, suppressing his fear, uttered this rather risky statement, and the fairy called Key didn't intend to linger any longer, immediately driving the little cart and speeding upwards with William in tow.
Perhaps it was because the return journey was uphill that William felt less carsick, and he began to have the energy to pay attention to the fairy driving the car.
"Does everyone who comes to Gringotts have to use this system to get on and off?"
“Of course, this is the most comprehensive security system—” Key said with no small amount of pride. “The vaults of the oldest families are all at the very bottom. No one can break through Gringotts’ defenses! Even using this system, it would take a long time to get in, which is far more than the short ten-minute walk to the vaults on the surface.”
"Of course, it's just as safe up there."
As if it had discovered something, it added a sentence.
'Sure enough, the poor are looked down upon—it's really a shame the vault is on top!'
William rolled his eyes in annoyance—since it was pitch black all around, he didn't need to hide it so well.
-
"William? You're back from Gringotts? I just finished my report and have some time to spare. Want to go out for a drink?"
When William emerged from the fireplace again, Adams was the only one in the faculty lounge—not every professor was lucky enough to be working on reports over the weekend.
"No need, I just got back from Gringotts and need to go back and organize my things. We can talk about it another day."
William, who was only thinking about going back to check the experiment records, didn't even go to have a drink with old Tom, and directly rejected Adams' invitation with a clucking sound.
"To retrieve something?"
Adams paused for a moment, then the smile on his face began to turn sly.
"Well, don't be so nervous. In any case, storing things in Gringotts is a bit too much—even Professor McGonagall has never confiscated anything from the house. At most, prefects would take things from the children."
I felt like your flying broomstick tail swept across my face, Adams.
"Huh? The school even regulates students learning potion-making on their own? And the prefect hasn't collected the cauldrons yet?"
William showed a pure and surprised expression.
"A crucible? You mean a crucible?"
Adams stood there, stunned.
"Yes, is that what you mean?"
William had a completely bewildered expression on his face.
"I'm talking about the Wolf Fang UFO."
Adams struggled for a while before finally uttering a word, then realized something was wrong and started to reach for his wand.
“Are you serious, Professor Adams? The person in front of you is the professor of Wizarding Self-Defense Magic. Our class mainly teaches students how to fight.”
William spoke in a very serious tone.
Adams put away his wand, then turned to leave. At the doorway, he turned back. "William?"
"what?"
Adams responded with a middle finger.
Chapter 103 Two Roaring Letters
William placed the books he had retrieved into the unread section of the bookshelf, put the experimental records into the drawer of the table, and then solemnly placed the package containing a complete set of instruments on the table, beginning to open it layer by layer by hand.
As the package was fully opened, the things he remembered began to be revealed to him one by one—a crucible, a knife, a balance scale, a grinding dish…
Although they look like second-hand items, they have all been well maintained. While this won't increase their price much on the second-hand market, in their current condition, William can use them directly without any maintenance.
'Let's brew a magic potion—but what should we brew?'
William began to hesitate. Although this was his first time brewing a potion, and theoretically he should be brewing simple potions like scabies potion that freshmen would brew, he did not intend to brew a potion that would be meaningless to him—he did not have as much time to study as freshmen, nor did he have no foundation like freshmen.
Even setting aside his self-taught knowledge of potions, the magic he possesses alone is enough for him to handle most unexpected situations that might occur during potion brewing.
'Aphrodisiac? Aphrodisiac?'
William almost instantly thought of two potions that were highly regarded within Azkaban—if someone could get their hands on the genuine product without any shrinkage, he could exchange it for chocolate several times its original size. You know, chocolate is even more prestigious than Galleons in Azkaban!
Aphrodisiacs can make people smell their favorite scents, while euphoria drugs give users a sudden surge of joy—but neither of them has a long shelf life.
'Aphrodisiacs, I suppose. Love potions have a bad reputation—the story of love potions in Azkaban could fill a book, not to mention the fact that a professor was brewing love potions on campus; that just sounds suggestive…'
Having made his decision, William began summoning the fairies.
"Bart?"
With a soft 'snap', the little elf appeared in front of William.
"Professor, is there anything I can help you with—would you like me to brew a potion?"
"Yes, Bart, I suddenly realized I forgot to prepare the materials, so could you please go to Professor Adams's office and bring me one, no, three sets of materials for the euphoria drug?"
William gave a serious warning—he had just joked with Adams, how could he possibly go over now?
"Okay, Professor."
Bart happily accepted the task.
Soon after William filled the crucible with water and ensured proper ventilation, the little elf returned happily with a large bag of medicinal herbs.
