Marvel: I am Iron Man
Chapter 65 Frost Giant
The Mark 7 armor exploded in the sky with a transparent sonic boom, like a burning arc, flying through the snow-covered landscape.
But Tony wasn't inside the armor.
He was in Stark Safe House, dozens of miles away, remotely controlling the armor using a headset.
Remote control technology was something Tony Stark developed in the original film, *Iron Man 3*. Now, Tony has designed it ahead of time, and the reason is simple: he feels he's much more cowardly than the always confident Tony from the original film.
Remote driving is undoubtedly a very safe and reliable method. He can remotely control the armor to do many dangerous things, even things he is not particularly confident about, or simply to collect some clues, without having to put himself in danger.
Just like it is now.
A Mjolnir fell from the sky, and Thor, banished to Earth, came to find his beloved hammer to reunite... Up to this point, it was still the familiar movie plot for Tony. But the appearance of the ice storm deviated a bit from the original trajectory.
Of course, Tony was prepared for this. His knowledge of the movie plot was a great asset, but he wasn't foolish enough to treat movies like gospel and unreasonably believe that everything would inevitably unfold as depicted in the film.
From the moment I transmigrated into a character like Tony, a chosen one of this world, the timeline of this Earth was destined to be different from the original one.
Many of the major events may still occur, but every hero, villain, and even minor character involved in these events may make choices that differ from the original timeline, leading to drastically different outcomes.
Therefore, Tony always felt that he could refer to the original work to plan his projects, but he must never blindly believe that everything would necessarily go as he expected. He had to prepare second and third plans so that he could deal with unexpected situations.
Of course, remote-controlled armor technology sounds great, but it also has fatal flaws.
Otherwise, since Tony had already mastered this technology in the original movies, why did he always have to wear armor and personally go into battle in the later movies?
In his previous life, as a viewer, Tony didn't understand or think deeply about this issue. He only felt that it was necessary for the plot, and that the director wanted Tony to be inside the armor instead of remotely controlling an empty shell from a great distance.
But now that he's transmigrated into Tony's body, with the exact same brain circuits and thoughts, he's starting to understand things.
Because remote control requires a signal, and this alone is enough to become Iron Man's fatal weakness.
If an unmanned Iron Man is discovered by an opponent, then no matter what means the opponent uses—magic, Earth's black technology, or alien technology—as long as the armor receives signals, the Iron Man armor will become a high-tech scrap metal.
Therefore, remote control is an attractive technology. This technology is certainly not without its advantages. When Tony is unsure and needs to take risks, he can completely use unmanned armor to do it for him.
However, this cannot become Iron Man's primary mode of operation. Because once this mode becomes the norm, the Iron Man armor will become a flawed weapon, far more lethal than Superman encountering Kryptonite or Vibranium encountering sound waves.
However, missions like this, such as going to the center of a completely unknown magical cold current, where Tony is unsure what he will encounter in the vortex and needs to gather intelligence and act accordingly, are very suitable for unmanned vehicles.
Since he wasn't inside the armor, even if he encountered some unimaginable danger, he wouldn't care if the armor self-destructed on the spot. He could even use the armor to launch multiple self-destructive attacks.
He has plenty of money, and he doesn't lack vibranium now. It's just a suit of armor; if it explodes, it explodes; he can just rebuild it.
Iron Man leaps across the ice and snow, approaching the heart of the icy abyss. Tony descends, and through the armor's visual sensors, he sees what appears to be a valley.
The valley was frozen over, and visibility was very low as they approached. Tony slowed down the armor's speed and gradually descended.
Jarvis used thermal imaging to mark several humanoid figures: "Sir, SHIELD assault team spotted."
Tony soon saw it too: a team of commandos wearing blue exoskeleton armor with the SHIELD emblem on their bodies.
That group probably had just arrived as well. They encountered a frost giant at the entrance to the valley.
It was a giant that looked like it had been roughly sculpted from ice and blue rock. It was as tall as three adult men stacked on top of each other. Its skin was covered with rough, cracked ice armor and a hard, rock-like surface. It wielded a spiked club that looked like it was made of ice crystals and roared as it charged toward the Aegis team.
The Aegis armored squad immediately spread out and opened fire. However, their bullets seemed to have limited effect on the Frost Giant.
But one of the armored squad members didn't scatter or retreat, nor did he draw his gun to fire. Instead, he shouted loudly and fearlessly swung a mechanical battle axe at the frost giant, yelling something like "For Midgard!" as he charged forward and swung the axe down on its head.
"Let me guess," Tony said, "is that our tall, strong, and love-starved Asgardian heartthrob inside that armor?"
Jarvis: "I think it's very likely, sir."
Coulson apparently listened to Tony's advice in the end and allowed Thor to go with the commando team, and even gave Thor a set of Aegis armor.
However, Thor clearly preferred the mechanical battle axe to the armored sidearm.
Thor immediately engaged the Frost Giant in a fierce battle, while the leaders of the other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents behind him hurriedly shouted, "Cover him!"
Although Thor had lost his divine powers, his battle instincts honed over years of battlefield experience remained. Despite wearing an unfamiliar exoskeleton, he still took on the roles of both main DPS and main tank for the squad, and with the support of the others, he was temporarily locked in a stalemate with the frost giant.
But Tony could tell at a glance that they could handle this giant.
Without pausing, Tony maneuvered his armor past the group and continued flying inward.
Jarvis: "Sir, more Frost Giants have been detected. They are releasing some kind of energy frequency, and scanning analysis shows that that energy is amplifying the moving icy vortex."
"Magic." Tony had already recognized the characteristic of this fluctuation.
Each frost giant is unleashing magic, collectively strengthening the all-sweeping vortex of ice.
It's clear that these alien invaders are the culprits. To resolve this man-made natural disaster, these giants must be eliminated.
The good news is that by observing the S.H.I.E.L.D. team's confrontation with the gatekeeper giant at the entrance, and using the Mark VII armor as a benchmark, Tony was able to roughly assess the level of these Frost Giants.
A piece of trash at first glance.
"Jarvis," Tony said, maneuvering his armor down towards the group of giants. "Let's go say hello."
