Chapter 52 Saving Miguel

Everyone slept for about the same amount of time yesterday and got plenty of sleep. Plus, Dominic had been woken up every day for the past few days and had almost gotten used to it, so he naturally woke up.

"Is something wrong, Allen? There's no need to rush to pick up the cans, is there?" Dominic rubbed his eyes.

"Dominic, it's dawn, time to get up. How can you, so lazy, possibly achieve anything great with me? Sieg got up even earlier than me; he wasn't even there when I went to wake him." Zhang Ailun took out his phone seriously and played a video. "Look at this!"

"Isn't this just a normal street fight? There are plenty of other people's videos online." Dominic glanced at the video but lost interest.

It's quite common on the street for a group of black men to grab a white or Asian person and beat them to death.

"I know this officer very well, and Sig knows him too," Zhang Ailun said.

Hearing Zhang Ailun say this, Dominic was also a little surprised. "He's one of the officers who shot and killed the black man who bought the goods for free? No wonder he looked familiar. I saw that short video on TikTok. It has over 200,000 views in Los Angeles."

"That's right. These black men are suspected of retaliating by attacking and seriously injuring a police officer, and I happen to have video evidence on hand. The other party is a responsible and excellent police officer. The matter has blown up, and he needs help right now. You should understand what I mean, right? This is an opportunity for us."

Dominic quickly understood what he meant.

If they could help Officer Miguel escape danger and provide sufficient evidence to the police, the officers would certainly be grateful afterward. They might even receive thanks and respect from the Southern Precinct officers, and at least they wouldn't have to worry about being chased away or harassed by the police on the streets in the future.

Not to be missed.

Dominic quickly got dressed and got up.

The two walked out of the bridge and waited for a while. Soon they saw a figure wearing a camouflage hat and sweating profusely jogging towards them from a distance.

Seeing their slight surprise, I asked, "You two got up so early? What are you doing here?"

Sig was covered in sweat and could clearly feel that his physical strength was not as abundant as before; he was quite weak.

"Something big happened in the early hours of last night, Sig. Do you remember Officer Mig?" Zhang Ailun said briefly.

"Miguel?" Sig was a little confused, but quickly realized what he meant when Dominic reminded him. "You mean the white police officer who gave me $20? Of course I remember him. What happened? Is it related to him?"

"See for yourself." Zhang Ailun played the video on his phone.

"Where did the video come from?" After watching it, Sieg immediately recognized that the person being beaten in the video was Officer Miguel, and his expression turned serious.

I never expected these black guys to be so bold as to attack and retaliate against a white police officer who was on administrative leave.

Sig had some goodwill towards Officer Mig, after all, the other was doing his job to maintain order, and Mig wasn't the only one involved in the shooting.

This was clearly a premeditated attack! This time it was Miguel, but next time it could be any other officer?

"I downloaded it from a forum on a social media app, and the person who posted it deleted it just a few minutes later. I only happened to see it while browsing videos, and it shouldn't have caused any stir online so far," Zhang Ailun offered a plausible explanation.

The source of the video can indeed be verified, and it is true that it has been completely deleted. It's just unclear whether there was a cowardly person involved or if it was just a comprehensive and thoughtful service provided by Daily Intelligence.

Zhang Ailun prefers to have both.

"We must rescue Miguel immediately. Otherwise, his life will definitely be in danger." Sig's military instincts made it impossible for him to stand idly by while the victim was killed, especially since the victim was an excellent police officer.

"We were thinking about that, but we can't completely trust the video. We need to confirm that Officer Miguel is still under the bridge. What if he's regained consciousness and called the police himself and is out of danger? Then we'd have wasted our time," Dominic suggested.

"Then what are we waiting for?" Sig immediately prepared to walk towards his destination on the Kakin Bridge.

Zhang Ailun immediately stopped his reckless behavior, retrieving his bicycle from under the bridge. "How can walking compare to riding a bike?"

"Dominic, go borrow Simone's bicycle and skateboard. We can each have one; it'll make the journey faster!"

"Leave it to me." Dominic knew the importance and urgency of the matter, so he jogged to find Simone and gently woke her up from her slumber, letting her experience the pain of being forcibly turned on.

Under Simone's furious glare, Dominic dared not provoke her. He could only honestly explain the whole story and successfully borrow the bicycle from her.

The three of them immediately set off for their destination, the Kakin Bridge.

However, Zhang Ailun felt that Officer Miguel was so tough, having already endured several hours in the sewer drain, so a few more minutes wouldn't make a difference.

There weren't many cars or pedestrians in the early morning, so riding a bicycle along the way was mostly unobstructed.

The three arrived at the Kakin Bridge and chose to ride their bicycles directly down the slope at the edge.

Dominic was a bit unlucky; he almost got thrown off by the skateboard.

We have located sewage outlet number 4.

Zhang Ailun also noticed that the barbed wire had been covered with a layer of sheet metal. He waved to the two men, who then hopped around on the spot to stretch their bodies.

He took a step forward and suddenly delivered a side kick. With a loud bang, the entire sheet metal dented, and the nuts fixed to the wire mesh were pulled away by the immense force.

As gravel flew, the blocked sewage outlet was instantly exposed again, and Zhang Ailun could vaguely see a person lying motionless inside, who was none other than the unconscious Officer Miguel.

He turned around and gestured to the two of them, confirming, "Don't worry, the person is definitely still here!"

If it weren't for the daily intelligence reports, Officer MiG might have been rotting inside and no one would have known.

After all, his personal information shows that he lived alone and was on administrative leave. Even if he didn't reply to messages for two or three days, his colleagues probably wouldn't immediately associate him with being murdered.

The two people behind them were also stunned by the violent scene. How strong must that explosive force be?

"I feel like this side kick could shatter me," Dominic honestly replied.

Sieg glanced at his small frame and reassured him, "Don't worry, it's not just you. Without protective gear, even I would be in the same boat. An ordinary person simply couldn't withstand that kick."

You can't fight city hall.

The side kick is the most powerful strike ever delivered by a human being with their bare hands.

The downside is that it's not easy to hit the enemy, similar to capoeira. It's still useful for hitting stationary sandbags, and its performance in limited spaces is amazing! It's difficult to use in actual combat on the street because the enemy will run away.

"Dominic, call 911 right now and report this to the local police station. Sig, you should have received training in dealing with wounded soldiers when you were in the army, and know how to stop bleeding and perform emergency medical procedures, right? You can go and drag Officer Mig out of there and check his condition."
