Chapter 39 The Gift (Part 1)

The lavender farms outside Bangor Harbour, with their purple fields of flowers and red windmills, offer a unique and beautiful view of the harbor.

Bova followed in the crowd. She had heard that the young lady of the manor was a very, very important young lady. Even the butler who managed the manor went to greet her immediately and repeatedly told them not to run around or look around, and not to bump into the young lady.

Bova was also very curious about the young lady; she had never met such a high-ranking person before.

She's in charge of washing clothes, and there are still a lot of clothes left to wash today. If she delays her work, she'll be punished by her supervisor.

She couldn't bear to give up this job, as it included room and board and the salary was quite good.

The supervisor was very strict. She witnessed another woman who was selected with her being kicked out for ruining two pieces of clothing while washing them.

Bova was washing clothes with her head down, losing track of time, until footsteps came from the courtyard wall outside and the servants' conversation distracted her slightly.

"Miss is so beautiful, her long golden hair is just like that of a princess in a book."

"The young lady was very kind and rewarded Tom with a gold coin."

"Wow, I wish I had been closer back then."

A hint of envy flashed in Bova's eyes, but she wasn't jealous, because she knew she was clumsy and it wouldn't be good if she offended someone important.

Hang the washed clothes on the line.

Just then, footsteps came from outside the door.

Bova turned around and saw the supervisor walk in. She quickly wiped the water off her hands on her apron and forced a smile. "Supervisor."

The supervisor had a gloomy expression, and there were several servants behind him.

"Someone said they saw you stealing something?" the supervisor asked.

Polona quickly denied it, saying, "No, I didn't."

"Manager, we found it. We found it in her package." There were hurried footsteps outside the door again, and several older servants walked in. The one in the lead was holding a gold ring.

"Did you see it taken out of her bag with your own eyes?" the supervisor asked.

"That's right."

"It was taken out of her bag."

"Yes, I saw it too."

Several servants spoke up, including some long-time employees who had worked there for over a decade.

"No, supervisor, I didn't take it," Bova said excitedly.

Several workers nearby spoke up, saying, "We all saw it with our own eyes, and you're still trying to deny it. You're the best at pretending."

"That's right, I never expected that someone as honest and unassuming as Beauvoir would be this kind of person."

The supervisor remained expressionless, and seeing his demeanor made Bova even more nervous.

The supervisor had the same expression when that person was fired last time.

Bova was a worker hired recently to be responsible for washing clothes. The supervisor was quite satisfied with her because she was hardworking, but he never expected that she would have such a habit of petty theft.

The supervisor beckoned to Bova, "Come here."

"Manager." Bova walked over nervously.

"I've seen how well you've been working lately," the supervisor said.

Bova nodded eagerly.

"It's only the 14th of the month, but I'll settle your wages for the entire month. You should find another job," the supervisor said.

"Manager, I really didn't take that thing," Bova said.

The manager waved his hand, saying it didn't matter whether she took it or not, because there were too many people in the manor. He had heard that the important figures from above had some complaints, and if anyone was to blame, it was her for not knowing how to behave and offending someone.

-

My parents have been choosing shops and observing the market for the past two days.

Seeing how enthusiastic the couple was about starting their business in their middle age, Lynn felt that as long as they were happy, that was all that mattered.

As long as I have something to do and can support myself, that's enough; whether I make money or not is not important.

Hamilton and the others invited Lynn to go out and help choose a store location, but Lynn refused to go out. He spent the day meditating at home, and the Earth Ring gradually took shape in his mind!

hum-

A cold current flowed through my mind, and the new earth ring was successfully formed.

Very good, that's progress again.

That evening, Lynn was sitting on the edge of her bed reading when there was a knock on the wooden door to the balcony. "Come in."

Lauren entered the house, and as soon as she entered, the man began rubbing his hands together incessantly.

Seeing his happy, excited, yet hesitant expression, Lynn had a guess in her mind.

"Master, could you do me a favor?" Lauren asked nervously.

Seeing Lauren's sparkling eyes and its tail wagging slightly behind it, Lynn had never seen it so excited since arriving here.

"You've found your wife?" Lynn guessed.

"Found it." Lauren's voice was filled with barely suppressed excitement.

"I asked people to look for Bova and the others. Today they said they had a lead, so I followed it and found my wife and children. But I don't dare go in to see her," Lauren said shyly.

How could he dare to face his wife in his current state?

His current ferocious appearance would only terrify her.

The more you love someone, the less you can bear to see them hurt; sometimes you'd rather those menacing barbs turn around and hurt you instead.

"Master, could you go see her for me tomorrow, as my friend? This is my savings." Lauren took out a money pouch from her bosom.

Lynn did not refuse; he had promised Lauren about it before.

"Give me the address, and I'll go check it out tomorrow."

Lauren gave Lynn the address and then climbed out of the window to leave the room.

Seeing that Lauren was so excited that he forgot to close the wooden balcony door, Lynn smiled and was genuinely happy for him.

He turned the book he was reading and placed it face down on the table.

Lynn walked to the balcony, where a cold wind blew in from the window, causing the curtains to flutter slightly.

Lynn drew the curtains and closed the balcony door.

Lynn sat down at his desk and suddenly froze.

On top of his upside-down alchemy books, a brown leather-covered book on mutations had appeared out of nowhere.

With his current mental strength, he could clearly remember that there was absolutely no book here just now!

Lynn turned and scanned the room.

The room was empty, with nothing superfluous in it.

But the books on the table are real.

"Serena?" Lynn asked.

The room was silent; no one answered.

Lynn lowered her head and picked up the book on the table.

Introduction and Fundamentals of Variation Theory.

Teacher, is that you?

Then why won't you come out and see me?

Lynn sighed inwardly.

As the book was turned, a piece of white paper floated down from between the pages.

His eyes lit up.

Pick up this piece of white paper.

There is only one address above.

13 Falk Street.
