Chapter 19 The Beginning of School

The train journey was peaceful, with nothing happening except for Hermione asking Neville where the toad had gone.

Li Buying didn't really want to join the trio, so she didn't pay much attention to Hermione. She just told the other people in the same room that she hadn't seen her before and then lowered her head again.

The young magicians in the same private room were very curious about this Asian man, but they didn't have many questions. Mainly, Li Buying's calm expression really made him look like an adult, which made them afraid to speak to him.

Seeing that the children were tactful enough not to talk to her, Li Buying ignored them and instead pondered a question to herself—whether guns could be used in the forbidden forest.

There's also an M1911 fully loaded with bullets in the storage space. When they encounter Quirrell and Voldemort in the Forbidden Forest, who are there to drink unicorn blood, Li Buying can easily use her unethical gun-drawing technique to kill Voldemort instantly.

He believed the Iron Mantra could stop bullets, but he didn't believe Voldemort's reaction speed and spellcasting speed were faster than bullets.

The problem is that Li Buying doesn't know whether guns are allowed in the Forbidden Forest.

In theory, the Hogwarts area is protected by an anti-Muggle magical barrier. Putting aside any discussion of whether it's scientific or not, this magical barrier should render firearms ineffective.

However, judging from the book's content, one major question has been the subject of much discussion among fans: whether the camera Colin Creevey holds in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is actually magically enhanced.

The camera in his hand was a so-called Muggle camera, and an old-fashioned, purely mechanical camera that didn't require batteries.

Before Li Buying's time travel, there was still much debate online, with some people believing that Hogwarts' barrier could only be used against radio waves or items that required electricity.

Others believe that the camera was simply blessed with magic, since the photos came to life after special developing chemicals were used.

Li Buying could only try it himself. He could take out the gun in the Forbidden Forest or the Room of Requirement and fire a shot. If he could hear a sound, it meant that the gun worked.

……

The train started humming again. Li Buying, who was flipping through "The Theory of Magic," looked up at the window. The bright moon hung in the sky, with streetlights on either side. The whole area was eerily quiet, as if only the hum of the train could be heard.

It was obvious that he had arrived at his destination.

Li Buying, now dressed in a long robe, got off the bus with the children around her. The sight of the disheveled giant Hagrid startled the children. After exchanging a few words with Harry Potter, he shouted:

"First-year students! First-year students, come this way!"

Walking down a steep, narrow path, a black lake appeared before Li Buying. Looking up, he saw the moon hidden in the clouds and the towering Hogwarts below it.

Li Buying boarded a small boat with three unfamiliar children and crossed the lake. She lowered her head and passed through the cliffs. Pushing aside the vines in front of her, she arrived at a hidden, open entrance. After walking for a while, she finally arrived at the oak door of Hogwarts Castle.

……

The door opened, and Li Buying, who was surrounded by people, coughed a few times before being squeezed into a small room in the luxurious castle. The very serious Professor McGonagall introduced Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Slanterling before disappearing for a while.

"Hey, which college do you think we'll be assigned to?"

"Gryffindor, that's the best." "Hmph, Slytherin is the best place."...

The children were excitedly arguing, and Li Buying, as an oddity among them, felt a little out of place. Having already lived a second life, he no longer exhibited any childish behavior at the age of 11. Now, it was better not to pretend than to pretend, as he was considered a precocious kid.

Inside the castle, a group of ghosts drifted by, curiously observing the children. Professor McGonagall quickly returned and instructed everyone to line up and walk into the great hall from the small room.

The hall was lavishly decorated, but what caught Li Buying's attention the most was the hazy starlight on the ceiling, which looked even more dazzling than in the movies.

Upon entering the enormous auditorium, the first-year students stood in a line before a low stool that Professor McGonagall had brought. A worn-out hat sat on the stool, and at this moment, Li Buying felt a pang of worry again—

The Sorting Hat probably can't access memories.

However, considering that the system even assigned him his identity, this Sorting Hat can probably only explore memories related to the college and identify which college a person's emotional traits are more suitable for.

Just as Li Buying's consciousness began to wander, the Sorting Hat suddenly shook a few times and began to sing those familiar lines:

"You may not think I'm pretty, but please don't judge a book by its cover."

"If you can find a more beautiful hat than mine, I'll eat myself..."

"...You may belong to Gryffindor, where courage lies buried deep within, and whose boldness, spirit, and chivalry make Gryffindor stand out."

"You may belong to Hufflepuff, where the people are honest and loyal, and the students of Hufflepuff are persevering, truthful, and unafraid of hard work;"

"If you are clever, you might enter the wise old Ravenclaw, where you will always find your kindred spirits among the wise and learned;"

"You may enter Slytherin and make true friends there, but those cunning and treacherous people will stop at nothing to achieve their goals—"

Listening to the introductions of the four schools again, Li Buying sighed inwardly. He adjusted his mindset, cleared his mind, and stopped thinking about which school was better. He would just deal with whatever came his way. If he went to Gryffindor, he could just do some more big work.

One by one, students put on their sorting caps and were assigned to one of the four colleges. The number of people in front of them gradually decreased until it was finally Li Buying's turn to step forward.

"Not Full of Plum!"

Upon hearing her name called, Li Buying stepped forward. Initially, she wasn't overly nervous, but as she put the hat on, her muscles tensed involuntarily as she thought about her goal in the Harry Potter world—

Gain more knowledge about magic.

The Sorting Hat hovered over Li Buying's head for two seconds, then, as if sensing her desire to learn, it quickly called out, "Ravenclaw!"

Applause broke out at the second table on the left. The boy calmly put down his hat, walked over to Ravenclaw's seat, glanced around, and found that most people here indeed liked to read, and almost all of them wore glasses.

Once settled in her Ravenclaw chair, Li Buying secretly glanced at the wise wizard with a long white beard sitting at the head of the table.

Albus Dumbledore, nicknamed "The White Lord," has been the subject of much online debate, which worried Li Buying. She only felt much more relaxed now that she has officially enrolled, especially since even Tom Riddle was able to graduate smoothly.

Soon all the procedures were over, and it was time for dinner. Looking at the pile of food in front of her, Li Buying casually picked up some.

"Uh, buying..."

A student sitting next to him awkwardly said his name, but Li Buying smiled and said, "Just call me Magi North, that's my English name."
