Chapter 10 Hidden in the Shadows

Inside a glass door, a corpse with its eyes wide open stared straight at the door. Its chest cavity had been completely emptied, and its emaciated state showed that all its blood had been drained, just as the thug had said.

The next second, recovering from the shock, Li Buying took a deep breath to calm herself down, put the dagger in her bag, went behind the sofa and suddenly covered one of the men's mouths, grabbing the mafia's jaw and forcefully pulling it down!

The sound of bones cracking was drowned out by the rousing movie theme song. Li Buying released her arms and bent down again, keeping her eyes on the young mafia member playing on his phone. She picked up a bottle from the ground and threw it to his left.

The sound of the bottle making a noise startled the gang member who was playing a game. A gust of wind swept by, and a dark shadow silently enveloped the mafia. Li Buying suddenly pressed down on his head, slit his throat with a dagger, and jumped away before the blood splattered to prevent her clothes from getting stained.

The gangster whose throat had been slit did not die immediately; he struggled and fell backward, the sound of him collapsing finally attracting the attention of the Mafia members who were just a wall away.

Two burly men peeked out from the side. The first thing they saw was the member whose neck Li Buying had twisted. They thought he was just asleep. But when they got closer to the wall, they found the young member lying on the ground in the corner.

Before the two could even cry out in surprise, Li Buying, who was hiding beside them, threw a dagger and struck one of them in the throat, then punched the other in the temple with his right fist, killing him instantly.

After retrieving the dagger from her throat and washing it clean in the sink, Li Buying opened the door, walked out of the room, and slowly closed the door behind her.

……

An hour later.

"It's almost time, take your things with you."

The two leaders of this small gang were unaware of the impending danger. They took two boxes of money and prepared to go to the gang's stronghold in Hell's Kitchen. As they walked through the corridors, they slowly noticed something was amiss.

These underlings seem unusually quiet today; not a single sound can be heard.

"Hey! Jack! You bunch of bastards, come out and give us a break, or I'll beat you all up!"

The black man shouted, but there was no response for a long time, as if everyone had suddenly disappeared.

"What happened?"

Drawing their pistols, the two men warily surveyed their surroundings. They kicked open a door, pointing their guns inside. Upon seeing the situation, their pupils constricted, and the black man let out a mournful roar: "No! John!"

A black teenager who looked much like him lay in a pool of blood, his eyes filled with fear. The black leader pounced on the teenager, his grief fueling a fire of hatred.

The white man who entered the room did not see any enemies. The sight of the carnage and the silence of the entire building immediately sent chills down his spine. He rushed to the other side and opened the door, only to find more corpses.

"Impossible, impossible..."

The incredulous white man suddenly remembered a legendary figure—a legendary figure known as the Punisher.

But why would he target such a small gang like his own?

Sensing danger, the white man turned and rushed towards the stairs, abandoning the black man. In times of peril, everyone flees for their own lives. He only wanted the black man to attract the punisher with his cries, while he himself quickly left this place of trouble.

However, he had only run a few steps when the door next to him opened. He glanced sideways and saw a guy wearing a white mask appear in front of him.

The white leader's eyes widened, but he didn't even have a chance to react. Li Buying, who had just dealt with the last few people, threw out his dagger, and as the blade flashed, his throat was also slit.

Jumping out of the pool of blood to avoid getting blood on his boots, Li Buying patted his cheeks. He had killed more than forty gangsters without feeling any unusual emotions. It seemed that this was also a benefit brought by the Assassin Master's memory.

As Li Buying walked toward the location of the last person, his spider-sense activated for the first time, and his nerves suddenly tightened. He immediately realized that danger was approaching, so he hid in a room next door. Several bullets grazed the spot where he had been standing.

The weeping black man, his face contorted like a monstrous chimpanzee, roared, "You damned bastard! I'll send you to meet your maker!"

Up to this point, he still didn't know what kind of monster had killed everyone, and could only refer to them as "the guys." He kept his pistol aimed at them, not daring to relax for a moment.

However, Li Buying was not going to wait there obediently. He had already opened the window and walked along the wall into the room where the black man was, quietly approaching him from behind and raising his dagger.

Task completed, reward issued.

The flickering lights appeared in front of Li Buying, gradually converging and finally transforming into a black and white mask.

Having completed her mission, Li Buying did not linger in Hell's Kitchen. After confirming that she was free of blood, she took a car back to Queens.

When he got home, he sat on the sofa, took out the mask and examined it closely. It looked similar to Rorschach's mask.

Trying to put the mask on, Li Buying was able to see things outside the mask very clearly. He went to the mirror and found that the black on the mask was wriggling and becoming orderly.

Eventually, the black particles coalesced into a rather abstract spider, which crawled across the boy's face.

"Hmm, not bad."

After removing and placing the headgear, Li Buying rested on the sofa for a while before going to the basement to tidy up the messy items. He wanted to turn the basement into a gym and put the wooden dummy and sandbags he had bought there.

……

The day passed quickly, and night fell. Superheroes and supervillains alike began their day's activities, including Matthew Michael Murdoch. Many may not recognize the name, but he has another title—

Daredevil.

Today, something major happened in Hell's Kitchen, something that could be considered a big event even for Hell's Kitchen.

A gang of over 50 people, all of whom remained at their stronghold were wiped out, including two leaders.

Everyone was shocked. At first, they thought it was the Punisher who did it, which made the gang members feel insecure. However, after investigation, the police found that all 50-plus people were killed with daggers, and the whole process went unnoticed.

This is certainly not the style of a punisher.

Matthew Michael was even more certain that this was not the Punisher's doing. He was friends with the Punisher and knew that the Punisher was not in New York recently. He came here at night to find out who killed the gang and why.

Stealthily infiltrating the sealed-off gang, Matthew Michael gradually clenched his fists. With his keen senses, in addition to his sight, he could smell the long-accumulated stench of blood, realizing that this was a gang that sold "parts".

They searched carefully for anything the killer might have left behind, but ultimately found nothing.

Daredevil frowned slightly, having found nothing, and sniffed the remaining scent in the air. Unfortunately, the crowd was too mixed, and he couldn't smell anything unusual. When he heard the police coming, he immediately jumped out of the window to another building and got away from the place.
