Godslayer in the Marvel Universe
Chapter 9: The Clown's Soul!?
Chapter 9: It!?
At four in the morning, a light rain was falling. The cold night wind blew through the dark and deserted alley next to the Black Mask Club. The broken lampshade of the old street lamp at the alley entrance made its usual annoying creaking sound.
It was early autumn, and the chill in the air and the rain made the two guards in raincoats outside the club's back door drowsy.
Although their boss ordered them to keep watch, they really didn't know what was so interesting about it.
Do you think the guys at the port can succeed?
"It'll definitely work. Boss has bribed several security guards, so they know the situation inside very well. That rich bastard will be brought here soon and will obediently hand over all his assets under torture. Huh? Did you hear that?"
"Uh, no, you must have misheard me?"
"I think I misheard."
They hadn't misheard; a RC remote-controlled car, readily available on the market, was entering the heart of the Black Mask Club's second floor through the central air conditioning ventilation duct.
This remote-controlled car, equipped with a camera and priced at just over four hundred dollars, easily breached the bulletproof glass defenses that Black Mask was so proud of and entered the pipes directly above his office.
Through the grille of the air conditioner vent, the figure of the man in black, making a phone call, came into someone's view.
The next moment...
"boom!"
A huge bundle of TNT explosives was detonated!
The shattered air conditioning duct fragments turned the blast point into a giant fragmentation grenade. The terrifying fragments, like the Grim Reaper's scythe, ripped through the air with a piercing shriek.
All of this happened so suddenly that Roman Siennis was completely unprepared.
Faced with the dense, torrential rain of shrapnel and the terrifying waves of fire rushing towards him, all he could do, sitting behind his desk, was instinctively lean back, trying to use the large, thick desk to shield him from this ordeal.
late!
Even with his hand-to-hand combat skills comparable to Batman's and his exceptional marksmanship, he still couldn't possibly emerge unscathed from such an explosion.
A piece of galvanized iron, the size of a washbasin, ejected from the explosion, easily severed half of his right arm as if tearing a rag doll apart. Not only that, but more than thirty pieces of shrapnel of varying sizes that hit him nearly turned him into a sieve on the spot.
He survived only because of his exceptional physical condition and the Kevlar bulletproof vest he was wearing.
His subordinates were not so lucky.
Of the four armed gangsters, three were killed instantly in the explosion, and one collapsed in a pool of blood, clearly beyond saving.
Roman's black mask was chipped off by the explosion, revealing a handsome face underneath. Perhaps due to a temporal distortion, he didn't suffer burns to his face like in the comics when Batman arrested him; he was still a handsome middle-aged man.
However, what Batman couldn't do, someone else did for him.
"Boom boom boom!"
The continuous explosions echoed throughout the second floor of the Black Mask Bar.
Not one, not two, but a series of massive explosions involving a bunch of TNT explosives.
The massive explosion collapsed part of the ceiling of the nightclub downstairs, and light fixtures crashed down, filling the entire dance hall with flames and sparks.
Fortunately, it was already late at night, and there weren't many people in the nightclub. The guests who were originally having fun immediately screamed and fled from this terrifying place.
Sean knew that the Black Mask Club was finished.
The other party clearly intends to uproot him completely.
To his utter dismay, he heard a commotion and the sound of rifles firing from the street corner. He struggled to crawl out from under the table, unbuckled his belt, and used his mouth and left hand to tie a tourniquet around his severed arm to stop the bleeding. He then stood up and leaned out the window.
A large group of clowns rushed over from a distance and were fiercely fighting with his men who had been positioned at the street corner.
"The Clown Gang—" His venomous voice seemed to come from the deepest part of hell.
There are at least a hundred people on the other side.
With his current manpower, he simply cannot withstand the pressure.
Without the slightest hesitation, after quickly treating his injuries, Sean rushed to his safe, opened it swiftly, took out the most important item, and left immediately.
He staggered out of the messy office, having to forcefully slam open the door frame that was deformed by the explosion.
"Is anyone there? Is anyone still alive?"
There was almost no response, only a few painful groans occasionally heard.
The other party is too ruthless.
The explosion affected the entire second and third floors. The top two floors of this three-story building were almost completely destroyed.
Roman abandoned his seriously wounded subordinates without hesitation. The garage door at the back of the club was blown up, and he could only rush out through the side door located on the back street.
Fortunately, he saw that the two gatekeepers were still alive.
"Come with me! Protect me!"
"Ah! Okay, boss!" The two gunmen were stunned at first, but then instinctively obeyed the order.
The pressure from the black mask was immense; no one dared to defy him until they were certain he was truly incapable.
At this moment, the rain was pouring down harder and harder, making it almost impossible to see anything more than twenty meters away.
One gunman led the way, while the other supported Sean.
Suddenly, a loud bang was heard in the sky, followed by thunder.
In the dazzling flash of lightning, the three suddenly saw a terrifying clown face grinning at them from inside a sewer drain that was constantly being filled with rainwater.
At that moment, time seemed to stand still.
The hearts of all three also stopped beating.
Those pure white eyes with yellow pupils, paired with the huge red painted smile on the corner of the mouth, made the scene incredibly bizarre.
"Clown—" the three screamed in unison, instinctively pointing their guns at the sewer opening.
too slow!
A black claw, or something else, shot out from the sewer opening with lightning speed, grabbing Roman's left ankle with perfect accuracy. Before anyone could react, Roman was pulled to the ground and dragged into the sewer.
"Ah! Help me—"
"Boss—"
With their leader blocking the gun barrel, the gunman naturally couldn't fire, and they tried to grab Sean but missed.
Roman instinctively swung his remaining left arm, but only managed to scratch the ground. With extreme force, his five fingers dug five clear bloody streaks into the muddy ground.
Because he used so much force, Mr. Black Mask didn't even realize that he had scratched the flip cover with his fingernails.
The clown inside was incredibly strong; he dragged the 1.86-meter-tall Black Mask inside in no time. Gotham City's sewer openings are quite large to prevent blockages, measuring a full meter wide and thirty centimeters high.
Little did anyone know, this would become the greatest terror.
The dark, gaping hole was filled with torrential rainwater, accompanied by the constant, echoing screams from within. This was no sewer opening; it was a gaping maw of abyss ready to devour anyone who dared to pierce it.
"Help me! Help me!"
No matter how much Roman screamed and cried for help, the two gunmen stood rooted to the spot, trembling as they looked at each other. Neither of them dared to say, "Let's all go down and save him." Their trembling pupils spoke volumes about the fear in their hearts.
"Why don't we run away!"
"good!"
The gunman was so frightened that he ran away without looking back.
The nightmare of the black-masked figure inside was not over.
To be honest, he was confused at first too.
He was grabbed by something and instinctively struggled, but as soon as he fell into the sewer, a huge net awaited him. The thick nylon rope mesh rendered all his formidable martial arts skills completely useless.
Before his eyes could adjust to the darkness, a piercing pain shot through the left side of his neck.
It was a sharp iron claw.
The clown gang often turns a pile of broken, scrap metal into claw shapes, sharp and covered in a terrible rust.
Roman instinctively retaliated, throwing an elbow strike, but missed.
Because all that came was an iron claw, not a human hand.
Another trap.
Mr. Black Mask has finally unleashed his greatest secret weapon—mind control!
He initially thought the other person was a clown, which is why he gave up on this tactic, since mind control is ineffective against a madman. Unexpectedly, the other person actually fell for it.
"You're not a clown! Who are you?"
Roman hadn't expected that his infallible mind control would be greatly weakened by the damage to the black mask on his face. He also hadn't expected that his opponent's mental resistance was higher than he had imagined.
His only answer was a holy sword of physics—a crowbar!
Another bolt of lightning struck the sky.
His questioning voice was drowned out by the thunder, and even if it did get out, his two fleeing subordinates wouldn't have heard it.
In the dim light filtering through the sewers, the last image reflected in Sean's eyes was the elegant arc of the crowbar in mid-air.
The Holy Sword fell, smashing half of Roman's head.
There will never be another Black Mask in the world!
