Chapter 58 Let's discuss things separately, father and son.
Before Bruce could react, Ang hung up the phone.
Only Bruce Wayne, seemingly petrified, was left standing bewildered in the wind at his doorstep.
Over there, Ang put down the phone. The Lance sisters, who were nestled against him, believed they were professionally trained and would not laugh no matter how funny it was.
Unfortunately, they couldn't resist.
"Pfft! Hahahaha!"
"Ang, you're so mean!"
Ang didn't blame them; instead, he touched their consciences and laughed along.
Black Canary asked curiously, "Ang, will Batman believe you or not?"
Facing the two sisters' burning gazes, Ang's wicked smile remained unchanged: "Master Bat is good in every way. But he... the only lesson he's learned from women all these years is—he never learns from women."
This sentence perfectly encapsulates the many troubles that surround Batman.
At the entrance of the old Bat House, Lucius was struggling to hold back his anger.
The father is to blame if his son is not properly taught!
This applies even to the United States.
You, Bruce, only talk about money with your son. It's already a favor that your son is even willing to talk about feelings with you.
Lucius wouldn't advise his own boss; it was someone else's family matter.
To be honest, Bruce Wayne was actually a little tempted at that moment, despite his anger. Unfortunately, when he recalled Ang's past, his heart hardened again.
From childhood, due to a lack of discipline, Ang never did anything productive. He had the worst grades, the most unrestrained lifestyle, and was always causing trouble.
Even though Bruce understood that the kid was trying to get his father's attention, Bruce had a more important cause of justice to pursue.
It was indeed his fault as the father!
But this is not a reason for Ang to collude with Tony Stark to seize Wayne Enterprises!
The fact that Ang inexplicably acquired these shares, this illegitimate child's rise to power, was something Bruce, as the head of the family, could hardly tolerate.
At that moment, Bruce inadvertently turned around and saw his old butler.
Bruce's voice finally trembled slightly: "Alfred, you know?"
The old butler nodded solemnly.
"I'm bankrupt, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, this house will be confiscated... I'm sorry." If Bruce still felt guilty towards anyone, it was definitely towards Alfred.
"Sir, there's no need to apologize. I just received a notification that the house has been redeemed from the bank immediately."
"What did you say? Could it be...?"
"Yes! It's Ang! But, sir, the deed to this house still has your name on it—"
The news made Lucius's mouth slightly open, while Bruce, the person involved, stared wide-eyed like a saucer.
The scope has been broadened.
If Ang were a narrow-minded person, he could easily take everything from Bruce and then grandly ascend to the throne of the Wayne family patriarch.
This practice was common in the history of European nobility.
Ang refused to usurp the position of family head.
This move undoubtedly won the favor of the Wayne family elders.
The old butler lowered his head and said emotionally, "Including him, I've served four generations of the Wayne family. I heard your cries at birth, and I've heard his too. I'm sorry, but he wasn't actually brought here at seven. Miss Ann found this place when she was pregnant, and I hid her. Sir, you'd better talk to Ang."
Bruce felt a little short of breath.
Without a doubt, Alfred's loyalty is absolute! However, his loyalty is directed towards the Wayne family, not towards the individual named Bruce Wayne.
Bruce could do whatever he wanted as the head of the family, but if he ruined the family, the retainers would have no choice but to accept a change of head of the family, even if they were very helpless.
You see, after Bruce defeated the Joker, he didn't care about anything else and used a lot of money to disrupt the group's operations, which has caused his followers to complain in private.
If even the most loyal Alfred was like this, one can imagine how restless the others must have been.
The only saving grace was that Ang didn't force Alfred to choose between him and his son.
Even so, Alfred's statement ignited Bruce's pride, and he suddenly turned to stare at Lucius.
The elderly Black man with freckles on his face bowed deeply: "I serve Bruce Wayne, you personally."
"Good! Contact Ms. Miranda Tate immediately, I will show her my energy project. Then, contact all the shareholders on the board who support me. Wayne Corporation cannot fall into the hands of either Dagate or that bastard."
As in history, Bruce lost his mind. He thought he had invited a savior, but in reality, he had pulled a beautifully disguised snake into his crotch.
After handing the nuclear fusion reactor over to Miranda, Bruce reluctantly returned to the corporate headquarters. As soon as he opened the door, he saw the face he absolutely did not want to see at that moment.
In the spacious conference hall, an extravagantly long table, two meters wide and over twenty meters long, was filled with impeccably dressed men and women. They were the major and minor shareholders of the Wayne Group.
Bruce saw that Ang had once again "foreseen" and chosen a suit just like his own, and sat in his original seat.
Before he arrived, he already knew that his shares had been forcibly auctioned off by the bank, split into three parts, with the largest part being purchased by Ang at a high price. Ang is now the largest shareholder of Wayne Group, holding 18% of the shares, followed by Dagate with 15%.
Today's shareholders' meeting was the result of Dagate's no-confidence motion against Bruce.
Needless to say, Bruce lost his fingerprints, and Bane stormed into the stock exchange and helped him embezzle funds. When Dagate said, "Bruce is losing money with all the shareholders," it was a very damaging statement to the other shareholders.
Unsurprisingly, all the shares were sold off by the bank, and the already bankrupt Bruce was ousted from the board of directors.
Meanwhile, Miranda Tate, whom Bruce had backed, unexpectedly became the new president of Wayne Enterprises.
The reason it was considered an accident was that Ang didn't support Miranda or Dagate; he just kept his eyes on Bruce and ultimately abstained from voting.
Bruce originally thought that even if he mobilized all the old men, Miranda would have a very difficult time getting through.
To everyone's surprise, Ang really let him off the hook.
Bruce couldn't understand it.
He arrived at the group's main gate somewhat bewildered, where reporters had already swarmed around him. If it weren't for a large number of security guards blocking the way, Bruce would have been overwhelmed by their spittle.
"Mr. Wayne, how does it feel to be penniless and back to being an ordinary person?"
People who enjoy sending beautiful women to prostitution and watching wealthy men turn into beggars are the same everywhere.
Every reporter's eyes were filled with mockery, and these piercing gazes made Bruce somewhat uncomfortable.
The valet jogged over: "Mr. Wayne, the bank says they need to tow your sports car away."
Bruce shrugged.
Just as John Black, a police officer he knew, approached and offered Bruce a ride, the crowd suddenly stirred.
"Mr. Ang, how does it feel to become a major shareholder of Wayne Corporation?"
Ang had a face similar to Bruce's, but younger and more handsome, and he was accompanied by two blonde, wavy-haired female secretaries. Bruce looked at Ang as if he were seeing his younger self.
Bruce didn't move; he was waiting for Ang to come over and deliver the victory declaration.
Ang leaned closer and whispered in Bruce's ear, "In my memory, on my 18th birthday, my father didn't give me a birthday present, or even a message. It was the most precious birthday gift I ever received. But I am still grateful to this father because he never let me lack money."
"What do you want to say, Mr. Ang?" Bruce remained calm, hands in his pockets, still as dashing as ever, his face radiating an air of invincibility, as if nothing in the world could break his defenses.
With a nonchalant snap of his fingers, Ang called out to the bank staff, "Hey! Leave the car with Mr. Wayne. I'll cover the cost."
His actions immediately caused another wave of commotion at the scene.
Some might say this is humiliating.
Some might call this the mercy of the victors.
Regardless, Ang is once again at the center of a media storm.
He smiled and leaned in again, covering his mouth with his hand to prevent his lips from being read: "It's nothing, I just wanted to say—from now on, I'll call you Dad. You call me Sugar Daddy. We'll keep to ourselves. How about that?"
