Chapter 45 If they both fell into the water...

At that moment, countless people inside the building felt a chill run down their spines.

Mary, Michelle, Liz who had just woken up, two girls who loved Peter, and Peter's uncle and aunt. They were both moved and worried when they heard that Peter was coming.

If Peter is really Spider-Man, and he comes here to save everyone from the shadow of death, that would be great.

What if it fails?

No one wants to become a victim of the main villain, especially one who has gone mad.

Harry's image appeared on every television screen in the building.

Peter looked through the grille of the ventilation duct's exhaust valve at his former friend on the hallway television, remaining silent for a long time.

Harry has changed.

Although he always dressed like an upper-class elite, and always liked to comb his hair so perfectly that not even an ant could crawl on his smooth gold hair, Peter was now horrified and disgusted by him.

His blond hair was slicked back, but his features were now surrounded by a ring of bulging, twisted blood vessels around his face. His eyes no longer held any human brilliance, only a cynical and resentful malice.

It felt like not just Peter, but the whole world owed him something.

"Peter! You despicable man! Do you know my pain? Do you know the despair of a dying man? Why is it that my most trusted friend, Peter, is the one who deceives me? Do you know what it feels like to be heartbroken?"

"I..." Even though he knew Harry wasn't opposite him, Peter still felt a tightness in his chest, and a feeling of depression made him feel extremely uncomfortable.

"No! You don't know! But luckily, you'll find out soon enough..." Peter's heart skipped a beat when Harry said this, and he had a bad feeling.

"No!" he whispered, immediately exiting the ventilation duct and crawling onto the exterior wall of the Empire State Building, quickly climbing towards the roof.

Unfortunately, everything was exactly as Harry had predicted!

A black winged being suddenly appeared above Peter's head. Through the open visor, Peter was astonished to see the other's face.

"Mr. Adrian..." In Peter's eyes, this was the man who could potentially become his father-in-law.

Now, the horrific bloody hole in the other man's neck tells Peter that this is no longer the Adrian he knew.

Before Peter could react, the Zombie Vulture had already raised his M249 light machine gun and unleashed a hail of bullets upon him.

"Rat-a-tat-tat!"

As a man so agile he could dodge even lightning, Spider-Man immediately pushed his mobility to the limit. Spraying webs and using every bump and dent in the Empire State Building's exterior as cover, Peter tumbled and dodged, managing to avoid being hit by a single machine gun bullet even as bricks and stones flew around him.

In the sky, the New York television station's helicopter, once again, fearlessly approached.

A male reporter, microphone in hand, reports live: "I don't know what's going on right now. One of those thugs who've taken over the Empire State Building rooftop is wearing a strange mechanical flight suit and firing wildly at Spider-Man. Ah, he's firing!"

Before he could finish speaking, [Zombie Vulture] pulled back the firing line, and a barrage of machine gun bullets swept across the helicopter.

This is just a civilian helicopter, so it doesn't have much defense to speak of.

When the other party acted so unreasonably as to kill even reporters, the helicopter that broadcast the live broadcast ended up as a fireball crashing to the ground.

"Aaaaaah!"

Countless New Yorkers watching from afar screamed and fled.

On the top floor of the Empire State Building, while Peter was entangled by vultures, Harry grinned and directed the zombies to carry the hostages to the edge of the observation deck.

With a single kick, Harry, whose body had been greatly enhanced, sent the entire railing flying with overwhelming force.

A row of nearly ten hostages stood on the rooftop of the 381-meter-high, 102-story building in the fierce wind.

Without railings, it was like a bottomless abyss beneath their feet, with terrifying zombies behind them. This feeling was a terrible ordeal, not to mention for these naive girls, even for a middle-aged woman like Aunt Mei.

"Please! I don't love Peter! I'm not his or any Spider-Man's girlfriend. I'm just a passerby. Please let me go!"

Not only her, but another girl also swore that she did not love Peter, but only lusted after his body.

Their timid behavior disgusted Mary, Michelle, and other women.

"Is that so? Then you're no longer of any use!" The ruthless Harry said, picking up one girl with each hand.

At that moment, Gwen was already prepared to take action, even at the cost of revealing her identity.

Just then, miraculously, Peter managed to escape the vultures' clutches and dashed to the top floor with lightning speed: "Harry! No—"

As Spider-Man Peter was about to pounce on the rooftop, Harry grinned maliciously: "Want them dead? Then go save them!"

After saying that, Harry tossed the two girls out one in the east and one in the west, like throwing two bags of trash.

"No—!" Peter cried out, rushing up only to jump back down. He used both hands to shoot out two huge clumps of spider silk, managing to stick the two women to the howling exterior wall of the Empire State Building.

Unfortunately, saving lives comes at a price.

"Rat-a-tat-tat!" The Vulture, which had briefly shaken off Peter, caught up and fired a burst of bullets at him while Peter was distracted.

One of the bullets grazed Peter's shoulder, tearing off a sizable chunk of flesh. Peter felt a sharp pain and plummeted, nearly crashing to the ground.

After falling ten stories, Peter finally caught his breath, shot out a spider web, and swung himself in a huge arc back to the top floor.

Just then, more hostages were thrown down.

Peter's uncle, aunt, and Gwen... while the three girls Peter cherished most were tied together by a rope and carried away by Harry in one breath.

Peter's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets at the sight.

Almost!

Peter was just a hair's breadth away from posing that classic dilemma—if your mother and your wife fell into the water, who would you save first?

Peter glanced at Gwen, and Gwen immediately understood.

cough!

Gwen preferred that she didn't understand Peter's subtext—you've fallen into the water, you can 'swim,' so save yourself.

Sure enough, the next second, the 'heartless' Peter turned around and ran after the Green Goblin Harry.

This is infuriating!

I want to be a princess and be rescued too! And if I transform myself and save Parker's uncle and aunt like this, won't my identity be exposed as well?

Just when things weren't exactly at a critical moment, a bald man arrived.

He wielded two strange knives with long iron chains, swinging between tall buildings with an air of Tarzan.

With his broad chest and strong arms, he pulled Gwen and Parker's uncle and aunt into his arms in one go, then kicked through the glass of the 99th floor of the Empire State Building and crashed inside.

But when she fell in, someone seemed to have used too much force, throwing Gwen into the women's restroom over there...

"Thank you, thank you..." the elderly couple, still shaken, said in unison.

Ang used extreme brute force to tear off the handcuffs on the backs of the three men, and casually shoved a security guard's revolver into Ben Parker's hand: "You're welcome! From now on, you'll have to protect yourselves."

"Wait, where's Gwen?" Ben Parker exclaimed in surprise.

The middle-aged couple, both over fifty, were about to say something when they suddenly noticed several zombies staggering towards them.

"You guys go downstairs first, I'll go check on her." Without waiting for a reply, Ang shoved the Parkers into the elevator and pressed the button for the first floor.

The shocked Parker couple only saw the bald, burly man's imposing back.

The moment the elevator began to descend, several spider silk threads shot out from the women's restroom, dragging the zombie into the toilet before it fell silent.

Ang leaned his left elbow against the wall and knocked on the door with his right hand: "Are you done?"

From the darkness emerged the Ghost Spider, its voice filled with rage: "Alright! I can't wait to teach that bastard a lesson!"
