Chapter 39 Pure [Royal] Ceiling
Chapter 39 Pure [Royal] Ceiling
Even if Harry yells, "Jojo! I'm not human anymore!"
That depends on the type.
The lizard man is clearly not human.
Dr. Connors's irrational, indiscriminate killings hardly resemble those of a scientist.
Where's Spider-Man?
No one has ever seen the two Spider-Men's true faces, but it is certain that they are in human form and retain the rationality of being human.
The key point is that this mutated spider was created by that "non-existent department" of the Osborn Group.
Harry looked at the various records with great eagerness.
This was his lifeline, and his only salvation!
He was so fixated on his own life that he overlooked many things, such as his father's men. The shrewd Norman was still around, and of course he could keep these cunning shareholders and subordinates in check.
Upon taking office, the impetuous young Harry, relying on the shares he inherited from his father, effectively demoted all of his father's key executives, making them take orders from... Norman's former secretary.
Even a clay figure can have a temper, let alone these high-ranking executives who were once second only to the emperor.
How could they possibly tolerate such humiliation?
This sowed the seeds of Harry's later suffering.
However, Harry is now using Osborn Corporation's cameras in various locations across New York to search for the two Spider-Men.
With exaggerated camera angles constantly switching, the facial recognition system finding the two oddly dressed individuals isn't actually that difficult.
Fortunately, Americans value privacy, and there are no cameras in most places. Harry could only see the cameras of the various subsidiaries of the Osborn Group throughout the city. Otherwise, he could have definitely found out where that big-time leaky Spider-Man lived.
After searching for a whole day and constantly changing the data model, Harry was incredibly excited.
"Found you!"
These are two short video clips.
In the scene, Spider-Woman, who recently changed her name to "Ghost Spider," calls out to Peter, who is walking down the street with his backpack. The two then turn into an alley and talk about something before going their separate ways.
If it had only happened once, Harry wouldn't be certain, but the camera showed the same scene twice.
Harry has an idea.
Quite by chance, his butler suddenly came to knock on the door.
"Sir! A gentleman named Peter Parker has come to see you. He claims to be your childhood friend."
"Yes! That's right, let him in." Harry was incredibly excited.
Inside the grand gate of his own house, which stood over three meters high, Peter rubbed his little hands together, looking a little lost. Although he knew the Harry family was very wealthy, he still couldn't help feeling reserved in the Osborne family's mansion.
Peter smiled as he watched Harry descend the European-style solid wood staircase, which was almost a work of art.
"I heard about your father on the news. I came here to say... I'm so sorry to hear this. Harry, please accept my condolences. I don't know how I can help you, this is probably the only thing I can do."
But Harry's reaction was strange, no, rather, overly enthusiastic.
"The only thing I can do? No! No! No! Forget about that damn bastard, all he left me with is a curse—" Harry suddenly became agitated, grabbing Peter's hand and forcing him to touch the sore-like thing on his neck.
"This is..." Peter was a little confused.
"The greatest legacy he left me—that damn genetic disease!" Harry quickly explained to Peter what "reverse cell proliferation" was.
Peter was stunned.
"Yes! My dearest friend! I'm dying! Following in my dead father's footsteps. The only thing that can save me is Spider-Man's blood. And you are my salvation!"
As Harry spoke, Peter's pupils suddenly dilated.
Peter's heart was pounding; he had absolutely no idea how to face his childhood friend.
Harry wasn't about to let Peter off the hook: "Stop pretending! I know you're Spider-Man's... informant!"
Spider-Man's senses are incredibly sharp. The moment Harry uttered the words "Spider-Man," Peter had already prepared for the worst. He stopped pretending and had no choice but to lay his cards on the table.
But Harry's words gave Peter a final glimmer of hope.
Especially after Harry produced evidence and played the clip on the tablet of Gwen wearing the Ghost Spider suit and talking to Peter, Peter had a clear idea of what was going on.
"I... I'm just an admirer of the Ghost Spider. I can indeed contact her, but I can't guarantee she'll be willing to offer her blood."
Peter couldn't remember how he left the Osborne mansion; his mind was reeling. After all, he was still a high school student who hadn't yet entered society.
Not long after he got home, he suddenly noticed that the light next door was on.
In this life, he and Gwen are neighbors, and one of the side windows of their rooms faces each other, with only a little over a meter between them, a typical example of a building where you can shake hands with your hand.
"Hi! Gwen! I know you're here."
A few seconds later, Gwen opened the window, pouting: "What is it, Mr. Busy Man Parker?"
Peter lowered his voice and recounted what had happened at Harry's house that day.
Gwen frowned immediately. This time, she had been careless and hadn't dodged.
Even with her keen senses, she couldn't be sure whether a camera a hundred meters away had captured her.
But she had to handle this herself, otherwise Peter would be in danger.
She lowered her voice and said anxiously, "Provide blood? Are you crazy? What if he says it's not enough and wants to take me to the lab for biopsies? Remember Dr. Connors's body? It was later cut into 20,000 thin slices for research by the Osborn lab."
The timeline takes a turn here. Dr. Connors, who was alive and kicking after his defeat and might have been redeemed, was killed by someone and ended up dying a terrible death.
Both Spider-Men shuddered at the same time.
"What do we do then?" Peter asked. "Harry is dying."
Gwen frowned. "He still possesses wealth and power beyond our imagination, and dying people are often prone to madness. This is troublesome!"
"Then, how about I give him my blood?" Peter gritted his teeth.
"Are you kidding me! You think we're safe? There's no evidence that we won't turn into spider-like monsters someday. If our powers go berserk, it'll be a disaster for New York. Two time bombs are enough; don't let a third one come along."
Peter fell silent.
Don't be fooled by their human appearance... They can grow barbs on their fingers and toes, shoot spider silk from their wrists, and possess superhuman agility, strength, and physical abilities. How are they even human?
If they turn into monsters and lose their minds, who dares to say they won't become the second or third Dr. Connors?
The two eventually decided that Gwen would reject Harry first, and as for what to do next, they would just have to wait and see.
Sure enough, when Gwen found an opportunity to meet Harry alone and rejected him, Harry went berserk.
"What messenger of justice? Am I not an innocent citizen? Doesn't my life matter? Why can you save the lives of those lowly people in the slums but not mine? Just one vial of blood is enough!" Harry roared hysterically, the swollen abscess on his neck making him look horribly terrifying.
"Wait! My blood isn't safe. What if you turn into... Dr. Lizard?"
"I don't care! Even if I'm not human, it's better than dying like this!" Harry lunged at Gwen like a madman, holding a large syringe in his hand.
Seeing her childhood friend Peter descend into madness, Gwen didn't tolerate it and nimbly made her escape.
This caused Harry to completely lose control.
Meanwhile, Max, a struggling black electrical engineer at the Osborne Corporation, was forced to work overtime on his birthday and, to make matters worse, was electrocuted, accidentally falling into a pool where mutated electric eels were being raised, along with a high-voltage power line.
His original name is no longer important.
From this moment on, he had a new name: "Electric Man".
However, some heroes are unsolvable from the day they are born.
However, some heroes are already being targeted even before they make their debut.
In a secluded room in his villa, the Lance sisters helped Ang put on his second Kratos suit. This suit, handcrafted by Tony, lacked the bio-engineered muscles of the previous one, replacing them with pure insulating material, and even the zippers were made of non-metallic components.
In the past, losing 12 points of strength would have been a real problem for Ang.
After killing Dr. Lizard, strength was no longer his weakness.
After putting on the suit, the system prompts: [The host is immune to all electric shock damage below 50,000 volts].
Looking at the imposing Kratos in the mirror, Ang smiled: "I suppose this suit is what they call the pinnacle of pure [Royal] style."
