Chapter 330 - Behemoth's Message

Stunned by a single blow, Behemoth collapsed into the nearby mountains, gradually losing its vitality and falling into a peaceful, infant-like sleep. Seeing this, Kong scratched his head, then looked at the fallen Azure Star and let out a low growl.

Azure Star simply waved his hand, indicating to King Kong not to worry about it. He then took out camping supplies from his backpack, seemingly preparing to rest there for a while.

That's true, after all, they've been away from Skull Island for over two days. Although the system shop means they don't have to worry about supplies, the main characters in this world are giant beasts, and Azure Star doesn't intend to let these beasts wreak havoc if necessary.

This is not only to protect the food chain, but also to prevent these uninfected giants from being infected by something from outside the world, like the previous skeleton lizards, and becoming enemies that must be eradicated.

Although they love hunting, Azure Star is honestly inclined not to kill or harm them if possible. It is precisely because of this love of hunting that Azure Star is acutely aware of the devastating negative impact that indiscriminate hunting can have on the natural food chain. Especially for massive regional apex predators like Titans, even a mere injury can cause the collapse of the ecosystem over a considerable period.

Thinking to himself, Azure Star also glanced at the blood flowing from Behemoth's body.

As the blood flowed, the surrounding ground slowly absorbed it. Although ordinary people could neither see nor feel it, Azure Star could sense that rich life energy was being injected into the earth beneath his feet at an astonishing rate.

Located within the soil, tree roots and plant seeds began to grow at an astonishing rate. Even without seeing it with his own eyes, Azure Star could clearly feel that this land was rapidly regaining its former lushness.

It's not just blood. Or rather, blood is only one part of Behemoth's power. His power is to rapidly regenerate felled plants and forests. This means that as long as he exists, this behavior will continue. Although it's just speculation, Azure Star can roughly guess that this ability to rapidly regenerate vegetation originates from a special organic substance secreted by Behemoth. And the current, even more rapid nourishment of the earth is because Behemoth's blood contains a higher density of life energy.

They are the ecological gods of this world.

Looking at the stunned Behemoth, Azure Star put away the heavy Black Dragon Annihilation Hammer, his brows furrowed with a mixture of emotion and complex feelings.

If possible, Azure Star would not want to fight them. But the current situation is clear: if no action is taken, even with the behemoths' simple and straightforward nature, things will only get worse at an alarming rate.

Intervening when necessary is the hunter's duty and mission.

Ron didn't interfere with Azure Star's decision. Instead, he waited with her until Behemoth awoke—and it wasn't a bad deal, because during the process, Ron also enjoyed some roasted meat personally grilled by Azure Star. The meat came from a herbivorous dragon from the Monster Hunter world. Although it wasn't heavily seasoned, it had a chewy and springy texture. In particular, Azure Star's cooking skills were quite good; the skin and fat of the roasted meat had formed a charred crust, making it crispy when you first tasted it. With each bite, the juicy fat and chewy meat burst forth with a strong, rich aroma.

The taste was quite good, especially the large chunks of meat, which made it very satisfying to eat. Ron was so pleased that he immediately bought a dozen wheat juices. However, just as he was about to drink them, Ron gave up and instead asked Azure Star to buy a dozen Monster Hunter World ale instead.

"What a pity."

After a satisfying meal, Ron leaned back in his chair with a wistful expression, saying, "I've always wanted to try the grilled meat dishes from that muscular cat chef and Granny Cat's Icefield Hot Soup. So, is there any chance you could buy some for me?"

While playing Monster Hunter World, Ron was often captivated by the Palico meals prepared by the head chef and the Palico granny. It's no exaggeration to say that every time he watched the process of making a Palico meal, his mouth watered. The various spice-infused fried rice, grilled meats, and rich soups… the vibrant colors were perfectly showcased in the next-generation graphics. No wonder hunters received buffs like "Attack Boost" after eating them; the ingredients alone looked incredibly nutritious!

Hearing Ron's words, a smile appeared on Azure Star's lips. Clearly, just as powerful enemies left a deep impression on him, the cat meals prepared before each mission also brought Azure Star genuine happiness.

"The head chef and Granny Cat's dishes aren't for everyone to enjoy." Perhaps because he was talking about the people around him, Azure Star's voice sounded a little more relaxed:

"Because there are so many hunters in the New World, if the head chef were to handle everything, even working himself to the bone, he wouldn't be able to produce enough food, let alone guarantee its quality. Especially for high-level hunters, the head chef and Granny Cat add a lot of herbs to their dishes to enhance their various abilities and increase their hunting efficiency. If an ordinary hunter eats it, he will feel an uncontrollable urge even before he finishes eating it."

After a pause, Azure Star added, "Actually, AIBO's cooking is quite good too. Her roasted chicken and fried rice are just as good as the head chef's roasted meat."

Upon hearing Azure Star's words, Ron's lips curled into a smile of curiosity.

In every Monster Hunter game, the protagonist has a female mascot, similar to a female lead, who is usually used for accepting and delivering quests. Due to the Japanese kanji, she's also called a "quest-receiving girl." In some cases, she also helps advance the plot. However, among all the quest-receiving girls in Monster Hunter, the one from Azure Planet is probably the lowest-rated. In the story, she often inexplicably triggers monster attacks, leading to situations worsening, and she also seems to have a grudge against the modeler.

Actually, the original artwork is quite beautiful.

Because of its gluttony, it's also known as a humanoid Deviljho, or a Deviljho baby. Players, after all, always prioritize good looks. In this context, Aibo's act of helping organize the toolbox during its idle animation is interpreted as stealing snacks from Azure Star.

However, if we really want to rank them, the world's aibo is still pretty good; at least it can actually cook.

Based on this, the most well-regarded "waifu" (waifu/wife) should be the Fire Village hunter from Monster Hunter Rise. The twin dragon girls, Mizuki and Kaga, became new waifus for Monster Hunter players almost instantly upon their debut.

Of course, if the food at the reception area was good, the food at other places naturally became worse. The cat rice balls in Flamefire Village were just so unappetizing...

But if I had to say... it's alright, I guess.

After all, the elders in the neighboring Jieyun Village didn't even have rice dumplings to eat; they just soaked in hot springs and drank water.

They ate and chatted, and even King Kong was enjoying his meal. Foods that didn't offer any extra power, such as those that could increase comprehension, magic, or power limits, were quite cheap in the system shop, almost like they were given away for free.

Under these circumstances, King Kong enjoyed a delicious meal and then rested against a nearby mountain peak. Another half-day passed. During this time, some humans tried to approach, but King Kong simply bared its teeth slightly, scaring them away. It could be vaguely seen that the direction from the nuclear power plant to the city had been firmly blocked off by the military, meaning: you can eat your fill at the nuclear power plant, but if you want to take a single step into the city, we will not allow it.

Ron couldn't be bothered with it.

In fact, these people also felt genuine worry and fear. They knew very well that their firepower was currently insufficient to withstand the Titan's attack. And because the world's phase had been severely disrupted, they themselves were unable to contact other regions. Although fighter jets and other military equipment were still usable on Earth, the intense signal fluctuations meant that communication methods were now almost at the level of the Iron Age.

Some countries with higher levels of control may be able to maintain their integrity, but those with slightly lower levels of control have probably already gone their separate ways, accompanied by numerous civilian uprisings and looting.

The large-scale entry of the military into cities, as is the case now, is an inevitable phenomenon. Ultimately, the underlying logic of all order is maintained through violence.

Well, Monarch, while powerful, is clearly not valued and is excluded from the military. That's not necessarily a bad thing. After all, judging from the storyline, Monarch first appeared in the public eye during the Battle of San Francisco between Godzilla and the newly formed MUTO. Monarch only gained real attention and widespread recognition after King of the Monsters and Kong vs. Godzilla.

It was only after people truly realized that they could not contend with the monsters and had to carefully maintain the balance between the two that they began to value Monarch's ideology.

From this perspective, imperial organizations still have a reason to exist.

Putting aside other examples, let's take Behemoth, who is right next to us, as an example.

Even the secretions of Behemoth, including the exhaled waste gas that has circulated through its body, can effectively accelerate the recovery of the natural environment. In this state, Behemoth's blood contains an even higher density of life energy. This impact on the ecological environment cannot be hidden. Its discovery by humans was only a matter of time—or rather, it has already been discovered.

If left unchecked, Ron can say with considerable certainty that the humans of this world, or rather the ruling class at the top, will one day attempt to achieve longevity by utilizing and exploiting Behemoth's blood.

Although this is just Ron's irresponsible speculation, given the nature of movies, the probability of something like this happening is quite high.

In the latter half of the night, as dawn approached, Behemoth finally awoke from his deep sleep.

It struggled to its feet, its massive body swaying from side to side. Upon seeing King Kong and Azure Star lying nearby, it shook its head warily, then let out a low growl, swinging its large nose.

After staring at Behemoth for a while, and then glancing at the blue star on the ground, King Kong scratched his head, then sat down on the ground and continued to feast on the meat.

Looking at King Kong's expression, Behemoth seemed somewhat puzzled. Just then, Azure Star emerged from the woods into a clearing and called out to Behemoth.

Upon hearing the sound, Behemoth looked up, and upon seeing the Azure Star, a human-like fear appeared in its enormous eyes. Its mountain-like body involuntarily took two steps back. But then, it mustered its courage and let out a brave low growl towards the Azure Star.

Unfortunately, Azure Star seemed completely unconcerned.

Behemoth released his pheromones without uttering a word. However, amidst Azure Star's silence and sensing the pheromones emanating from her, he gradually recovered from his fear and dread. Yet, despite his recovery, a hint of wariness remained in his eyes.

Communication between behemoths is straightforward and requires no embellishment. Now that they have proven their power, all Azure Star needs to do is ask them directly.

"What happened? What did you see? Why did this happen?"

Behemoth was stunned by the deadly triple combo, then let out a weak growl.

"The world has changed, I can't feel it, Alpha. Terrifying, black mist, hunting. I need energy to resist."

After translating it word by word and confirming that her understanding was correct, a hint of surprise appeared in Azure Star's eyes.

He then looked at Ron behind him and said, "He sensed that the world had changed, and he could no longer sense the Alpha Titan. The black mist swept through here, but it didn't harm him; instead, it flew away to hunt other behemoths. He sensed a threat, so he needs to replenish his energy to prevent an attack."

Upon hearing this, Ron blinked in surprise.

Ron certainly knew what Behemoth was trying to convey. Because Ron could bypass these sounds and pheromones—even though pheromones are more concise and convenient than language in expressing meaning, they are not as direct as Ron's perception of its soul.

What truly surprised Ron was that Azure Star was able to perceive Behemoth's message from this brief pheromone exchange, and almost without any issues...

"It's a real shame you're not a translator with your skills."

As he said this, Ron stood up, brushed off imaginary dust from his shoulders, and said, "But this mammoth did convey some very useful information. Hmm, judging from the movement of the black mist, their target is Yunnan?"
