Chapter 331 The Deadly Swarm
Chapter 331 - The Horde of Death
Upon hearing Ron's words, Azure Star nodded, and then the two began preparing to depart.
During the process, Azure Star asked Behemoth if he wanted to follow the direction the black mist was heading. Behemoth hesitated. Clearly, the black mist didn't give him a good feeling.
Among the many Titans, there are destructive Titans and orderly Titans. Titans like the Skeleton Lizard, Rodan, Tiamat, and the newly formed MUTOR are classic examples of destructive Titans. They cannot control their energy cravings, and even with the orders of the Alpha Titan, the so-called King of Monsters, they will still attempt to overstep their bounds.
While Behemoth's name isn't exactly auspicious, referring to a monster from the Bible, it is actually a fairly typical Ordered Titan. Before Monarch discovered Behemoth, it had already existed on this land for countless millennia. Yet, this enormous mammoth with its massive tusks didn't cause any major destruction; in fact, its long slumber there allowed the region's ecosystem to recover to its ancient lushness.
Upon hearing Azure Star's suggestion, Behemoth was initially taken aback, but after a moment's hesitation, he shook his head, indicating that he did not want to go to such a dangerous place.
Azure Star didn't insist, he just nodded again, turned and boarded the ship, then carried King Kong towards Yunnan.
During the process, Azure Star was also curious whether Ron knew anything. However, Ron didn't directly give the answer—mainly because Ron himself wasn't sure if the answer was true. Like now, facing Azure Star's question, Ron simply said calmly:
"The Titan that inhabits Yunnan is the Titan of the Order side, Moth, Mosla. She is the lover of Alpha Titan Godzilla."
"……spouse?"
Hearing Ron's words, Azure Star blinked, and after eating for a moment, said with a slight look of doubt, "If I remember correctly, according to the information you gave me about Godzilla, Alpha Titan Godzilla was a descendant of the atomic dinosaurs. Even creatures of this era are more like lizards. And that Titan called Mosla... was a giant moth?"
"Yes, and it's a colossal moth. Although the adult is only 15.8 meters long, its wingspan reaches an astonishing 244 meters," Ron said lazily. "As a benign representative of the natural order, Mothra is also known as the Queen of Monsters. And I can tell you with considerable certainty that Mothra and Godzilla's relationship is not purely symbiotic, but rather a literal interspecies romantic relationship."
Upon hearing Ron's words, Azure Star's expression was quite strange. Ron, however, understood perfectly. After all, it was truly difficult for anyone to imagine a large lizard falling in love with a large fluttering moth—even if that large fluttering moth was indeed very beautiful.
"Human sexual desires are free, let alone those of monsters."
Ron sighed and said, "Besides, which Titan isn't an ancient creature that has lived for tens of thousands of years? It's normal for them to be a little open about their sexual preferences. Moreover, Mosla is so great; one of her can satisfy all my needs."
"...What do you mean?"
Azure Star was puzzled.
Ron said, "The Mosra's racial inheritance method is different from other behemoths. The Mosra embodies the concept of reincarnation. After each generation of Mosra dies, the next generation of Mosra is born shortly afterward. The newborn Mosra inherits all the memories of the previous generation. And the lifespan of a Mosra is far shorter than that of an Alpha Titan like Godzilla. Naturally..."
"You know what I mean? This Godzilla is practically the ultimate winner among the Titans. As the Alpha Titan, the King of Monsters, he's incredibly powerful and no one can mess with him. Not only does he have a private mansion in the deep sea, but even his wife is the most beautiful Titan. She's incredibly powerful, able to enhance various abilities, and she also has many forms, including a little girl, a loli, a young girl, a mature woman, and a sophisticated lady. Tsk tsk, tsk tsk..."
As he said this, Ron couldn't help but shake his head and sigh. Even as a human, Ron had to admit that Godzilla was simply the ultimate overpowered protagonist among the Titans.
Upon hearing Ron's words, a strange and complex expression appeared on Azure Star's face.
While interspecies mating is rare in nature, it does happen. In fact, the offspring of interspecies unions are not uncommon, such as ligers and mules. However, these hybrids invariably possess some genetic defects. They may have issues with stamina or be unable to reproduce. They are, in essence, rare and fleeting occurrences in nature.
What Azure Star didn't expect was that giant creatures like Titans, which are hundreds of meters long, could actually fall in love across species... Azure Star really couldn't imagine what it would be like if a dinosaur and a giant moth fell in love.
Ron, however, patted Azure Star on the shoulder with an air of nonchalance: "Actually, these behemoths have fairly normal views on love. If you were a human, some people might even be obsessed with giant mushrooms..."
"...And what is that thing?"
"A large mushroom with its own holes, bouncy, smooth, soft texture, and the ability to spray soap bubbles."
Ignoring Azure Star's bewildered expression, which seemed to say, "I don't understand, but I'm utterly shocked," Ron simply said, "Alright, set sail! Destination: Yunnan jungle. Since Behemoth has already discovered traces, I reckon Godzilla is probably heading towards Yunnan as well... Hmm, that should be right. At this point in time, if Godzilla doesn't get there, his little girlfriend probably won't be able to resist him at all."
This is not a judgment made haphazardly.
The current Behemoth Universe is set in 2019. The storyline of Godzilla: King of the Monsters has ended, and the storyline of Kong vs. Godzilla 1 was supposed to begin. However, before the storyline could even start, an unexpected event occurred in the world.
In the Godzilla II: King of the Monsters storyline, in order to defeat King Ghidorah, Mosla willingly sacrificed herself, allowing all her scales to adhere to Godzilla's body, putting it into the Burning Godzilla state. The price was the death of Mosla's original body, with her memories being passed down to her in a reincarnated state.
Currently, Mothra is undergoing reincarnation in its lair in Yunnan. While ordinary creatures would find it impossible to destroy, Mothra is virtually powerless against a destructive titan. Similarly, as long as Godzilla's mind remains intact, it too will travel to Mothra's lair in Yunnan to guard it.
Having determined their destination, Ron and Azure Star set off immediately. The journey from South America to Yunnan in Asia was undoubtedly a long one. Initially, Ron planned to rest and take it slow, seeing what tricks Azure Star would pull. However, not long after setting off, Ron received a message from the system.
After confirming that the war against the Upside-Down Tree had escalated to a full-scale escalation and that he might have to join the battle, Ron narrowed his eyes, then stood up from the deck and said, "Hey, hold on tight, we need to speed up."
Upon hearing Ron's words, Azure Star nodded, but King Kong, standing to the side, seemed somewhat bewildered. He squatted on the spacious deck, scratching his head, looking at Ron, unsure of what he meant.
Ron didn't waste any words—the Gates of Helheim opened, but did not engulf the warship. In fact, even the opening itself was so narrow that it was difficult for anyone to pass through.
Within the narrow portal, a stream of blood dripped down, seeping into the ship's hull. The warship, which had been moving at a steady pace, suddenly seemed to have its meridians opened, unleashing a surge of violent cosmic energy that flowed into the ship's magical formations. The previously dead skeletal giant lizard was strangely revitalized. Accompanied by a mournful roar from its massive skull, the enormous warship hurtled across the sea at a terrifying speed. It soared into the sky amidst a huge wave, like an airship entering the clouds, then traced a long arc as it plummeted towards Yunnan at supersonic speed.
During the process, the roar of the Skeleton Lizard was heard, and King Kong immediately suffered from PTSD because this annoying creature had resurrected once again. However, King Kong quickly had no time to pay attention to the Skeleton Lizard. The huge warship sped through the air, and the oncoming wind pressure impacted King Kong's face, causing him to uncontrollably grin and grimace.
Before long, as the surrounding clouds dissipated, Ron and his group arrived in the skies above Yunnan.
Looking down from above, the entire primeval jungle of Yunnan was pitch black. It was still daytime here, so Ron and the others could clearly see that the jungle below was teeming with strange, black insects, roughly the size of a human palm. These insects had extremely hard, black chitinous skeletons on their bodies. Although they were scattered throughout the jungle, there was an order to their disorder; clear patterns could be seen within them, as if they were being directed by some unknown force.
"A swarm of death? This world's viruses really know how to pick and choose their targets."
Ron nodded upon seeing the swarm of insects below.
The Death Swarm, a very special kind of Titan. The earliest recorded sighting occurred during the Hiroshima atomic bombing in 1945. During this event, Ishiro Serizawa's father, Eiji Hatazawa, witnessed numerous unidentified flying objects (UFOs) engaging in unusual activities above the radiation cloud. In addition, there were numerous records of battleships being attacked by unknown creatures in the coastal waters near Hiroshima. However, due to the specific historical circumstances, no one meticulously documented these events.
The following year, these unknown creatures attacked American warships. Then, under the president's orders, MacArthur established the secret organization Monarch to investigate similar unidentified giant creatures. Having witnessed the UFO over Hiroshima, Japanese Navy officer Eiji Hataizawa joined Monarch, posing as a shipping company employee.
If the true nature of the Dead Horde hadn't been discovered by then, it wasn't until 1949, when Godzilla was hunting the Dead Horde, that humanity finally witnessed a horrific war between the Titans. The two behemoths clashed on Munstar Island in the Pacific, and the aftershocks alone caused heavy casualties among the islanders. Humanity then decided to lure Godzilla and the Dead Horde to the vicinity of Bikini Atoll and then annihilate them all with hydrogen bombs.
With the explosion of the hydrogen bomb, both the Death Horde and Godzilla vanished. However, the Death Horde truly fell into a long slumber, while Godzilla took the opportunity to submerge into the deep sea, no longer bothering to interact with humans.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the giant beasts had been interfering with the world in ways that humans were unaware of.
Unlike Behemoth, whose mere presence causes vegetation to flourish, the Death Horde's interference is extremely destructive. For example, the London Fog of 1952 resulted in numerous deaths. Later investigations by Monarch's behemoth scholars revealed that these strange events were caused by abnormal air currents resulting from the appearance of the Death Horde. The reason the danger didn't spread was because Godzilla drove the Death Horde away at a crucial moment. Although traces were left behind, at the time, humanity studied these unidentified monsters very little; fear outweighed interest, and in-depth exploration was not undertaken.
Until the events of Godzilla 1, people weren't truly aware of the existence of the giant monsters. This led to humanity unintentionally unleashing many terrifying beings. For example, King Ghidorah, which was frozen solid in the Antarctic ice, was inexplicably dug out. Then, a sudden outburst of anger led to the destruction of an entire city. The current hordes of deadly creatures are similar.
Before the development of nuclear weapons by human civilization, the Death Horde slumbered underground due to asteroid impacts on Earth. It was only after the nuclear radiation from the Hiroshima atomic bomb that the Death Horde awoke and began to absorb nuclear energy to grow stronger.
Thinking to himself, Ron met Azure Star's questioning gaze and said:
"The Death Swarm is a very special Titan, even among the Titans. Its individual cells can divide and reproduce into new organisms, which are the fist-sized flying insects we see now. These flying insects are also scattered cells in the Death Swarm itself. Through the prosthetic limbs of the Death Swarm itself, it can reassemble these scattered cells."
"In other words, the dark swarms of insects you see now are not a group, but an individual entity," Ron said. "As soon as their hive consciousness senses danger, they can instantly combine into a literal behemoth."
"Speaking of which, it's no wonder that the world's virus chose the Death Swarm and targeted Mothra. If such a swarm of creatures had the ability to produce viral scales, it probably wouldn't be long before it infected the entire world."
