Chapter 89 Batman Solve the Case 2

"I won't believe you."

Gordon sneered.

A pervert in a tight-fitting suit came to the old Wayne Building at night, claiming he was there to help the police solve a case.

Gordon didn't think he was crazy enough to believe such words.

"No, sniff carefully." The figure shrouded in darkness concealed itself in a cloak, like a bat hiding under its wings while sleeping during the day.

Gordon sniffed the air, then frowned slightly.

There was a faint, strange smell in the air; if I had to describe it, it was like a kind of paint or pigment binder.

Gordon shrugged. "That doesn't prove anything. Maybe the killer accidentally spilled a bucket of paint while committing the murder."

Gordon continued, "Besides, handling cases is the police's job; I don't care who you are."

But Batman interrupted him before he could finish, holding out a hand and looking at Gordon: "Got a fire?"

"What do you want to do?!"

Gordon gripped the gun handle, his mind once again linking the mysterious man with the murderer. Could he be planning to burn down the crime scene?

Seeing Gordon's wariness, Batman silently withdrew his hand. He had originally planned to ask Gordon for a small favor in order to lower Gordon's guard.

However, he overlooked the fact that his identity and current actions were, strictly speaking, criminal.

Batman turned around and pointed with his chin at the wall: "Look at that wall over there, isn't there something there?"

Gordon frowned, pushing up his glasses with his other hand, which wasn't holding a gun, trying to make out something in the dim light.

Gordon looked at the dirty wall, his gaze sweeping over some light brown marks, and his heart skipped a beat.

"You mean this is a clue left behind by the killer?"

"I'm afraid that's the case."

"The pungent smell in the air was coming from the wall. I recognized the smell; it was a trace of flaxseed oil."

"Who would leave a message at a crime scene?!" Gordon was both shocked and furious. What did the other party take all of this for?

Is it just a game?

"A lighter." Batman said in a low voice, and this time, Gordon instinctively tossed a lighter out of his pocket.

When he came to his senses, he found that Batman had already pressed the lighter switch, and the flames that shot up gradually moved along his arm toward the brown mark.

"Wait a minute!"

Gordon was shocked; this was a crucial clue and evidence that could potentially help the police investigation.

However, the orange flames landed on the brown marks.

next moment.

"boom!"

The originally faint flames instantly climbed along the marks on the wall.

They ignited the entire wall in an instant, like a pair of intertwined fire dragons.

The magnificent and blazing orange-red flames danced in the pitch-black night.

Gordon stared at the huge line of English letters and involuntarily read aloud, "Let's play a game, Batman."

He glanced at the mysterious man in the tight-fitting suit and noticed a strange look in his eyes, while the slightly upturned corners of his mouth seemed to indicate that the strange man was somewhat happy.

"It's over."

Gordon inwardly groaned; it seemed this black-clad psychopath was also mentally ill.

Shouldn't most people feel headache and fear in this situation? Why is that guy happy?

Batman turned to Gordon: "Can I see the body? I think I have some clues."

"You." Gordon looked at the mysterious figure, feeling the intense, terrifying yet reassuring aura emanating from him, and inexplicably, he felt a surge of emotion.

"Okay, come with me."

Gordon led Batman to open a body bag, and the strong smell of blood emanating from the headless corpse inside made Gordon frown slightly.

Batman stared at the corpse, and after just one glance, concluded: "Died by decapitation."

"The wound was smooth with no signs of secondary slashing, indicating that the killer was experienced and had received rigorous training."

Batman narrowed his white eyepatch slightly, the method of killing reminding him of some things from the past.

The mysterious man then followed Gordon and opened three or four more body bags.

"It's confirmed." Batman spoke after a moment of silence.

Gordon looked completely bewildered. "Wait, what are you sure about?"

Catching Gordon's inquisitive gaze, Batman briefly explained, "The killer was an assassin from an organization called the League of Assassins."

As the world's greatest detective, Batman not only possesses extraordinary intelligence and a photographic memory, but also the most astute judgment.

During his time with the Assassins, he also went on some missions with the team. Although he didn't kill anyone himself, he witnessed the gruesome scenes of the dead killed by his comrades and these corpses matched.

"The League of Assassins?" Gordon looked at Batman with a puzzled expression, giving him a deep look and thinking that the guy might be having another episode.

Batman wanders around the room again, and after confirming that the League of Assassins was behind the murder, his gaze is no longer limited to his surroundings.

Batman looked up at the ceiling.

Soon, with the help of the moonlight, he found a series of indistinct black footprints on the ceiling above him.

Gordon watched as Batman pulled a strangely shaped, heavy pistol from his waist and couldn't help but ask skeptically, "Wait, do you think there's a clue up there?"

Batman didn't answer; he raised his grappling hook and aimed it at the ceiling.

"Bang!"

The heavy anchor at the top of the hook slammed down onto the ceiling with a whooshing sound.

However, perhaps due to insufficient distance or an incorrect angle, the grappling hook did not fly over the overhead concrete beam, but instead fell to the ground in an extremely awkward manner.

"Clatter~"

The iron anchor fell onto the concrete ground.

Gordon and Batman exchanged a glance, and both fell into a brief silence.

The first launch failed.

Batman gripped the grappling hook and pressed the button on the other side of the gun.

"Whoosh..."

Like a python returning to its nest, the rope drags the anchor back to the muzzle of the gun.

"Hoo." Batman took a deep breath, raised his grappling hook, aimed at the roof beam, and randomly pulled the trigger.

This time, his operation did not fail.

The iron chain, propelled by inertia, looped around the concrete pillar and was then bound back and forth several times.

Batman tugged at the grappling hook to make sure it wouldn't slip before pulling the trigger again.

The grappling hook spear carried him, flying towards the roof beams like a soaring bird.

The enormous bat-patterned cloak swayed in the wind.

Batman, with a cool somersault, landed on the roof beam, looking up at the black footprints so close to his head.

Chao sniffed the footprints lightly, and a foul odor assaulted his nostrils.

Batman narrowed his eyes; he didn't even need to think to guess where the footprints came from.

In the entire city of Gotham, there is only one source of such a stench: Gotham's sewers.

Batman landed with a somersault, one hand behind his back, a thoughtful look in his eyes: "But why did those guys come to Gotham City?"

He didn't think there was anything about this place that would interest Lei Xiaogu.
