Chapter 2 Accompanying You to Watch the Meteor Shower

Chapter 2: I'll go with you to see the meteor shower.

Why were you tied to the cross?

"Let's put him down."

The two spoke one after the other.

Lex quickly grabbed Gino and said, "Wait a minute, Gino, maybe this guy is some kind of bad guy tied to this cross?"

Gino shifted slightly, then stood in front of the man alongside Lex. He sheathed the knife in his hand and stared at the young man, saying, "Tell me, why are you tied up here?"

The man, his head drooping weakly, said in a feeble and low voice, "This is bullying, school bullying at the local high school graduation prom. They pick the least popular guy in the school to be the scarecrow."

"...for a whole day and night!"

As he spoke the last sentence, the man's tone became laced with a hint of gritted teeth.

"A case of school bullying." Gino sighed. The person in front of him was thin and looked refined, perfectly fitting the image of a nerdy student who was bullied in an American high school.

"Let's put him down."

Just as Gino was about to cut the rope, he heard Lex shout in panic, "Wait! Look at the sky!"

Gino looked up and saw several blazing streaks of light streaking across the blue sky, leaving long trails as they flew toward the town.

One of them was rapidly approaching the three of them!

The bookish young man's expression changed drastically as the meteorite crashed into a field not far from them.

"boom!"

The massive impact of the meteorite hitting the ground churned up the soil, and terrifying shockwaves spread outwards from the point of impact!

Lex tackled Gino to the ground first, pinning him down: "Lie down! Gino!"

The next second, a shockwave mixed with dirt slammed down on Lex's back, burying the two of them in dirt.

At the same time, countless meteorites fell across the town. Some crashed into the streets, causing a series of explosions and screams, smashing cars and taking the lives of innocent people. Others landed in residents' homes, killing a family of three on the spot.

For the small town, today was a terrible disaster!

At seven o'clock in the evening, the setting sun streamed into the room through the glass and shone on the clean white hospital bed.

Gino's eyes flickered slightly. A strong smell of disinfectant filled the air, instantly giving one a sense of where they were.

He is in the hospital.

Gino felt a sense of relief; thankfully, he was saved.

But then, a sense of unease arose in his heart regarding Lex.

Although he always complains that Lex is cowardly and childish, the two grew up together and their familial bond is undeniable.

Gino struggled to lift his eyelids, his gaze sweeping around before he quickly spotted the unconscious Lex on the hospital bed beside him.

After glancing at his cheap brother's electrocardiogram and confirming that he was alive, Gino breathed a sigh of relief. As long as the person wasn't dead, even if he was in a vegetative state, he could save his cheap brother as long as he had time.

"However, this feeling of being powerless and at the mercy of natural disasters is truly awful." Gino slowly raised his head, staring intently at the setting sun in the distance.

With a thought, he produced a card that only he could see.

Having been familiar with the origin stories of DC superheroes in his previous life, Gino certainly knew where these meteorites came from.

Perhaps he couldn't be sure when he first arrived in the town, but the violent meteor shower that affected the entire town made Kiro certain that the future god on earth, Clark Kent, had finally landed in this town.

"The arrival of a god among men was accompanied by destruction; what an interesting irony."

Gino got out of bed, wearing a hospital gown, and went to his cheapskate brother, while their savior was lying in the next bed.

Gino rubbed Lex's cheek, and the next second, his cheap brother slowly woke up.

"Huff, huff, where are we?" Lex opened his eyes, breathing rapidly, looking around in horror, clearly still reeling from the meteor explosion.

Gino sighed and lightly slapped Lex's cheek: "Wake up, Lex, we're in the hospital, we're safe."

After Gino explained, Lex realized he was lying in a hospital bed.

"Damn it," Lex muttered, then glanced around the room and asked, "Where's Dad?"

Gino shrugged: "Got busy with business, huh?"

Their father, Lionel Luther, was a shrewd businessman, a man of immense wealth, and one of the most successful businessmen in the free United States. Everyone who met him had to give him a wide berth. He devoted almost all his time to creating wealth, which naturally led to him neglecting his family.

"Heh, he's never satisfied with his wealth, he always wants more, just like a greedy vampire!" Lex's face flushed with anger. His two sons were in the hospital, and he was still thinking about business.

"Gino, are you feeling unwell?" Lex decided to stop thinking about Lionel and looked at Gino to ask.

Gino waved his hand: "I'm fine."

"But that guy tied to the cross is in trouble." Gino pointed to the young man who was in a coma in the clinic. Even though he was wearing a hospital gown, you could still see the red "S" shaped paint on his chest.

Lex sneered, "Ha, if it weren't for him, perhaps the meteorite wouldn't have affected us."

Just as Lex was about to speak, the door opened and his father, Lionel, walked into the ward.

When he saw Gino and Lex wake up, the man visibly relaxed: "Oh, thank goodness, you're alright."

"Yeah, Dad, apart from the fact that we were happy when we opened our eyes and found you weren't here," Lex commented with a sneer. He had no liking for his cheap father who loved money more than his son.

Hearing Lex's sarcastic remarks, Lionel frowned and reprimanded, "Hey, don't blame me! I plan to build a fertilizer processing plant here, which will bring our Luther family a considerable profit!"

"So, how did things go, Father?"

Kiro quickly interjected, knowing that if Lex said a few more words, his angry father would beat up his older brother.

Hearing Kilo's question, the man rubbed his forehead in annoyance and complained, "Hmph, things went very smoothly, except for one farmer outside the town who absolutely refused to agree to sell his land."

"That's why I'm here. I'm going to offer them a price they can't refuse!"

Intrigued, Kiro asked curiously, "Which couple is so stubborn?"

Could it be the Kent family?

The cheapskate father thought for a moment, then frowned and said, "I think their names are Jonathan Kent and Martha Kent?"

Hearing these two names, Gino wasn't surprised; only the Jonathans could refuse such a huge acquisition offer.
