A Certain Magical Hogwarts

Chapter 8 Lao Gan Ma and Happy Water

Chapter 8 Lao Gan Ma and Happy Water

Hagrid wanted to buy repair tools, naturally for the wand hidden in his tattered umbrella.

But Ollivander was unaware of this.

He turned his head, puzzled. "Hagrid, wasn't your wand destroyed?"

Hagrid scratched his chin and lied, "This isn't for me. Little Harry will be coming to Hogwarts next year, this is a gift I prepared for him in advance!"

"Is that child coming?" Ollivander's attention was indeed diverted at the mention of Harry Potter.

"Time flies. I can't believe it's been ten years since the mysterious man fell from power."

"Yes, yes, time really flies."

Hagrid took the wand care kit from Cedric and asked softly, "Cedric, could you accompany this child to buy the rest of the things?"

It's already evening, and Roy and I still have some things to do, otherwise we won't have time today.

Just minutes ago, Hagrid saw Tom's gesture; he was now on his way to the Leaky Cauldron to find the Greek.

Roy also wanted to see what Cerberus looked like, and also to sample some magical wine with Hagrid.

Cedric glanced at Ollivander with a troubled expression.

Having just completed a wand sale and also sold two maintenance tools, the old man was in a good mood.

He said gently, "Of course, child. You've been busy all day, and I'm closing up shop now. Go on, have fun."

"Thank you, Mr. Ollivander!" Cedric took off his work clothes, revealing his casual clothes underneath.

Finally, Roy paid Ollivander thirteen Galleons for the wand and maintenance tools, and Ollivander bowed as he saw them out of the shop.

The four parted ways at a street corner, leaving only William and Cedric.

In no time at all, the two had become good friends.

"Hey William, when you're at Hogwarts, you can ask me to take care of your wand. I'm a professional," Cedric introduced.

"Why didn't you say so earlier? We've just wasted our money on these nursing tools." William rolled his eyes.

Cedric blinked and laughed, "It's not a freebie! I get a commission; I'll get ten siscos for every one I sell."

"..."

William now seriously suspects that Hogwarts also received kickbacks from Diagon Alley!

"Alright." Cedric familiarly put his arm around William's shoulder and smiled, "Let's go, I'll treat you to ice cream, and then we'll go to Flourish and Blotts to buy textbooks."

Cedric bought two servings of nut ice cream, the chocolate shaped like Dumbledore. He wondered if the old man had received a portrait fee.

The two sat on the chairs at the shop entrance, watching people come and go, enjoying the gentle breeze.

Bobocha sat next to William, eating cat food.

"Do you like magic wands?"

"Of course." Cedric didn't forget to flip through his worn-out notebook while eating; it was full of things Ollivander had written down.

"After I graduate, I want to leave England and see Gregorovich's works."

A strange light flickered in Cedric's dark pupils.

"If you still have the ability, travel to the countries around the Mediterranean. That is the birthplace of the wand. Mr. Ollivander's family migrated from there."

"Once I've mastered the craft, I'll return to Diagon Alley and open a wand shop. By then, Mr. Ollivander will be pretty much retired, and no one will be competing with me for business."

William looked at Cedric earnestly and said, "If you want to open a wand shop, I will definitely invest and even let my children buy wands from your shop!"

"It's a deal!"

William and Cedric shook hands.

William's attention was quickly drawn to a bottle of Coca-Cola.

The Coca-Cola bottle featured a man riding a broom. If the image weren't dynamic, he would almost think he was in a McDonald's restaurant with a name that rivaled the style of Shaxian Snacks.

William was extremely surprised: "Coca-Cola in the wizarding world?"

Cedric scooped up a spoonful of chocolate cream and took a bite out of "Dumbledore's" head.

He said in surprise, "That's for sure. This drink has been around for hundreds of years and later spread to the Muggle world through wizards."

You don't really think Muggles could invent such a delicious drink, do you?

"Then you must know the recipe?" William asked excitedly.

The Coca-Cola Company's most closely guarded secret formula was something he had always been curious about.

"Of course... I don't know!" Cedric shrugged. "It contains some kind of potion ingredient that only the Candler family knows about. They're a famous potion family."

William took a sip in disappointment and found that it tasted no different from the cola sold outside.

Cedric said mysteriously, "Let me tell you, 'The Quibbler' says that Coca-Cola's formula contains a 'happy drug,' but I don't know if it's true or not."

William said earnestly, "It's definitely true! This drink is known as 'happy water' in the Far East."

"Oh!" Cedric nodded, drawing out the sound, though it was unclear whether he understood William's meaning.

"What does 'singing a different tune' mean?" William asked curiously. "It sounds very authoritative."

Cedric explained, "It's a magical magazine that publishes secrets, like the mystery of the Martian pyramids, prehistoric magical civilizations, and even blood-spitting wizards..."

"I love the latest issue the most! It describes a male wizard who was sleeping at home at night, and when he woke up, he found himself in the Magical Congress of America in the faraway United States."

Keep in mind, he didn't pass the Apparition course, and he doesn't have a Portal key...

William scratched his head. This was just the magical world's version of "Into Science"!

No, no, it should be renamed "Step into Magic"!

Cedric continued rambling, "It's terrifying. Lately, I've been tying myself to my bed with a rope before I go to sleep."

"However, my father doesn't like this magazine very much. He calls its editor-in-chief 'the crazy Lovegood,' although I don't quite agree with that..."

William suddenly realized that Cedric, who seemed extremely humble, was actually quite talkative.

After listening for a while, William had no choice but to shift the topic to areas where he could control the pace.

He lamented, "The magical world has sugary drinks, but it would be even better if it also had Lao Gan Ma chili sauce and Wei Long spicy strips."

"Lao Gan Ma, Wei Long?" Cedric asked curiously, "What are those?"

William thought for a moment and gave a fitting description: "Lao Gan Ma is a condiment spread on bread. You can think of it as butter or cheese!"

As for Weilong... it's a type of spicy fries.

"The way to eat it is very simple: just sandwich the spicy strip in bread, spread a thick layer of Lao Gan Ma chili sauce on it, and then drink a sip of soda... It's as blissful as being in heaven!"

"immortal?"

"Oh, it's Merlin of the East."

As William provided detailed descriptions, Cedric began to fully unleash his imagination.

He said excitedly, "If there really is something this delicious, I'll definitely ask my dad to get some for us."

William asked in surprise, "This kind of thing must be difficult to handle, right?"

Cedric glanced around and whispered, "My dad works in the Department of Magical Creatures Control at the Ministry of Magic. His position always gives him access to things that aren't easy to get."

This summer, he managed to get several Quidditch World Cup tickets.

"If you hadn't arrived so late, you could have made it to the competition; it only happens once every four years."

In Cedric's view, compared to Quidditch tickets, Lao Gan Ma and Wei Long are nothing more than butter and fries.

It's not like it's a prohibited item, so we can get it in no time!

……

……

(P.S. Lao Gan Ma and Wei Long had not yet started their own companies at this point in time.)

But if "happy water" has already been invented in the magical world, what are Lao Gan Ma and Wei Long compared to that?

It's normal for Muggles not to know this kind of thing, why would I lie to everyone!

I'm not saying anything more, the Auror's here to check my watch.
