A Certain Magical Hogwarts
Chapter 334 The People Have the Right to Ignorance
Chapter 334 The People Have the Right to Ignorance
After the Auror left, Clegane sat back down in his chair.
He scrutinized William and said in a pleasant voice, "Stark, I really didn't expect you to turn yourself in to the Ministry of Magic."
"Are they cornered by our Aurors?"
"Hmm? Your Aurors are chasing us?" William tilted his head, looking puzzled.
"I'm so sorry, you guys didn't put enough pressure on us. Hermione and I were having so much fun that we didn't even notice it."
"Sharp-tongued." Clegane smiled. Once the Starks entered the Ministry of Magic, they were nothing more than meat on a chopping board.
He calmly replied, "Then why did you come to the Ministry of Magic in the first place?"
"I told you, I'm here to negotiate with you."
"The condition... you found the box?!"
"The trunk? What trunk?" William feigned ignorance. "You mean Newt's trunk? Hasn't it always been in England? It's never been lost."
"It seems we've really found it." Clegane nodded slightly.
"Never mind whether I found it or not, the key issue now is no longer the box, but the atomic bomb that Arya has."
William frowned slightly and said in a serious tone, "But I've noticed that you don't seem to be taking any action, nor have you informed the public or carried out an effective evacuation."
"Inform the public?" Clegane exclaimed in surprise, then said with amusement, "William, are you kidding me?"
"What's wrong?" the boy asked, looking puzzled.
"Am I wrong? That's an atomic bomb, it could be detonated in Paris. You're the government, of course you have to tell everyone, the public has the right to know..."
"No, they have the right to be ignorant," Crigan stated firmly.
"Knowledge represents conspiracy and crime, while ignorance has a certain dignity."
William, you cannot always unconditionally satisfy every desire of the people if that desire does not benefit them.
It's like asking, "Would you give a drunkard a bottle of flaming whiskey?"
"Won't……"
"Yes, the atomic bomb is like a fiery whiskey, and the people are like alcoholics. Letting them know too much will only cause panic and serve no other purpose," Clegane said calmly.
"To tell you the truth, suppressing this matter was not my personal decision, but a joint decision made after serious discussions between the Minister of Magic and the Muggle President Mitterrand."
"They believe that declaring a nuclear crisis in Paris now will only provoke that woman to immediately carry out a nuclear test, and then everything will be beyond repair."
"So, you've chosen to do nothing and just wait to die?"
William pursed his lips tightly, his expression even more intense than Hermione's.
"Of course not." Clegane shook his head. "We negotiated with the Ukrainian Ministry of Magic and confirmed that an atomic bomb was indeed missing, along with a number of Muggle researchers."
"We have already dispatched a large number of wizards to track down that woman. We must not alert her beforehand."
Paris is a very large city with over ten million Muggles. Do you know what kind of crisis it would cause if the Muggles found out about this?
People will flee indiscriminately, traffic will immediately grind to a halt, and law and order will vanish. The country will descend into chaos.
That would be far more devastating than an atomic bomb. Furthermore, we cannot reveal the existence of the magical world.
"But you can't even catch us, how can you expect to catch Arya?" William raised his chin and said sarcastically.
"So we need your help, we need more detailed information," Crigan said.
"I have no information to give you. I've already informed you of everything I know through that letter."
William's eyes flashed with anger as he said, "You French aren't prepared to take responsibility for your people, so do you expect us British to save you?"
Clegane looked William over in surprise, frowning. "Then what is your purpose today?!"
"Save Newt! We can't leave him here to die with you!" William said.
"If the nuclear bomb explodes, you'll definitely use Apparition to escape. Will anyone care about him in prison?"
"I'm sorry, but if you refuse to cooperate, Mr. Scamander will have to stay in the Ministry of Magic." Clegane's voice turned cold.
"This is not up to you," William said with a smile.
"What do you mean?"
"Aren't you wondering why, when my lovely Hermione and I are always inseparable, only I am here...?"
"So, where is your little girlfriend... Granger?"
Clegane narrowed his eyes. "You don't want her to break out of prison, do you? Don't be ridiculous, she's just a third-year witch, she doesn't have that ability!"
"Hermione certainly doesn't have that ability." William smiled sweetly, but there was no smile in his eyes, only coldness.
"That's why I'm wasting my breath talking to you here."
"You're not Stark?!" Clegane exclaimed in shock and anger.
"Of course not, I am the powerless little witch you mentioned—Hermione Granger!" Hermione retorted, holding a grudge.
Hermione suddenly raised her hand and flung out more than a dozen dung balls and various smoke bombs from the safety watch.
A stench instantly filled the office, and the black fog obscured Crigan's vision.
The girl angrily dumped all the prank items sold in Akali's Secret Shop into the not-so-large office, as if taking out trash.
How dare she say she's incompetent!
Hermione's so angry!
A large number of beans fell to the ground and turned into pea shooters, spraying wildly.
This thing was made by William and was first sold to the young wizards at Hogwarts to deal with Quirrell.
Now it has become Clegane's nightmare.
Clegane roared in fury, waving his wand to create a barrier that blocked the pea's attack.
He waved his wand again, and a gust of wind swept through, but the black smoke did not dissipate and still shrouded the office.
Of course it didn't dissipate; this darkness was created by Peruvian invisibility smoke bombs, and only dark magic items like the Hand of Glory could pass through it.
The Auror at the door opened it and rushed in.
But from within the black mist, a vine wrapped around his ankle, throwing him backward.
—Devil's Web!
William once took the Devil's Net from the fourth-floor restricted area and turned it into a massage machine.
After two years of cultivation, many Devil's Web strains have been grown.
Hermione left it in the office, and the Devil's Web raged wildly in the darkness.
Clegane's office was instantly transformed into an enhanced version of the Hogwarts restricted area.
Hermione threw the serpent coiled around her left hand. It suddenly grew larger and smashed through the office wall.
Hermione whistled, and the harpy turned and rushed over. She leaped up and charged straight down the stairs.
"Goodbye, Director! William and I will pay you a visit next time we're in Paris!"
……
……
The prison is located on the sixth basement level of the Ministry of Magic.
Bound Newt was magically suspended in the air and carried upstairs, where the prisoners pounded on the iron bars and shouted loudly.
Four Aurors surrounded Newt, guarding him, and they successfully left the heavily guarded underground prison.
After walking for only a few minutes, the elevator doors suddenly opened, and a figure covered in dust rushed out.
—It's Clegane!
"Hurry, hand Scamander over to me!" Crigan said urgently.
"Stark just attacked me in my office; he's trying to kidnap Scamander."
"But, Mr. Clegane..."
"Hurry, he brought a lot of wizards. You go and provide support now. I'll take Scamander and leave first."
"Yes!" One of the Aurors handed Scamander over to Clegane.
The four Aurors had only taken a few steps when the alarm suddenly went off.
A series of sprays emerged from the walls, and large amounts of liquid gushed onto the corridor.
Every portrait on the corridor wall has been transformed into William's.
The alarm continued to sound.
"Alert! Alert! Wanted wizard William Stark!"
The four Aurors stared at Clegane... or more accurately, William.
The effects of the compound decoction have been washed away by the liquid, and William has become a different person again.
William gave an awkward laugh.
What a blunder... He didn't even know that the French Ministry of Magic had installed such a defensive device.
This anti-theft spray can wash away all spells and all magical disguises!
There's a lack of intelligence.
It seems Hermione acted a little too early, triggering the alarm system and getting him into trouble.
But what does it matter?
William pulled out his wand and said arrogantly in French, "I'll play with you."
There are only four Aurors... that's all.
