A Certain Magical Hogwarts
Chapter 17 Magicians Can't Eat Chocolate Frogs
Chapter 17 Magicians Can't Eat Chocolate Frogs
Everyone had a wonderful time on the long journey, except for Fred and that poor Niffler.
To celebrate Gryffindor's great victory over Slytherin (according to Li Jordan), George decides to take a portion of the stolen money to buy snacks.
In William's words: Tonight's entire bill will be paid by Young Master Zhao!
Although the entire event was limited to six people, one rabbit, and one Niffler in a private booth, and the only purchases were some snacks.
Bobo Tea is not included; it is very picky about food and almost exclusively eats the expensive cat food William buys, as well as various canned treats.
It's easy for a person to feel psychologically unbalanced if they don't eat as well as a cat.
Qiu suggested again, "Just starve it for a few days!"
Bobo Tea squinted and stared coldly at Qiu's little white rabbit. Its paws popped out from under its paw pads, startling the girl so much that she immediately changed her mind.
On the table were various Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, Bubble Gum, Chocolate Frog, Pumpkin Pie, Pot Cake, Licorice Wand, and some other strange and unusual foods that William had never seen before.
George went on a spending spree today, buying a little of everything.
In a short while, Qiu and the others got much closer, which made Cedric extremely happy.
The joy of being a simp is sometimes that simple and boring.
Fred handed William a chocolate frog, but the latter looked at the chocolate, hesitated for a moment, and still didn't eat it.
How can a magician rely on eating chocolate frogs to replenish his stamina? Isn't that just courting death?
When Fred saw that William wasn't eating, he opened the box himself and took out the picture.
The picture shows an old man wearing a bowler hat and black-rimmed glasses, with silver hair and a beard hanging down. The name below the picture is: Nicolas Flamel.
Looking at the words on the back of the picture: Nicolas Flamel is now recognized as the greatest alchemist of all time.
His well-known contributions include: creating the only Philosopher's Stone, pioneering the alchemy system from the Middle Ages to the modern era, and starting a trend of keeping toads as pets that has lasted for six hundred years!
"Oh, it's Nicolas Flamel! Great! I've collected a complete set of pictures!" Fred announced excitedly.
A complete set of Chocolate Frog picture cards can consist of several hundred cards, and they are generally very difficult to collect, hence their high price.
Fred collected these not because he particularly liked them, but because he intended to sell them to other wizards at high prices.
Seeing that Fred had collected all the cards, George, Cedric, and Lee Jordan also joined the army of dismantling the Chocolate Frog.
Time flew by during the frenzy of eating frogs, as if some unseen force had somehow taken it away. Before long, it was evening.
William glanced out the train window. It was already dark, with mountains and forests under a deep purple sky, and the train had slowed down.
"The train will arrive at Hogwarts in five minutes. Please leave your luggage on the train, and we will take it to the school for you."
The sound echoed through the train, and everyone stood up, surging forward with the flow of people in the aisle.
The train slowed down and finally came to a stop. The students pushed and shoved their way to the doors and onto a small, dark platform.
Then, a light swayed above the students' heads, and William heard a familiar voice shouting, "First-year students, first-year students, come this way!"
Amidst the throng of heads, Hagrid's tangled beard and massive frame stood out prominently.
He smiled and said, "Come on, follow me. Are there any more first-year students? Watch your step! Alright! First-year students, follow me."
After parting ways with Cedric and the others, William and Cho stumbled toward Hagrid.
Led by Hagrid, the first-year students separated from the main group and walked down a steep and narrow path. The ground was slippery and covered with various vines, making them stumble and fall.
It was pitch black all around, with only Hagrid's dim oil lamp guiding the way.
William sighed. Hogwarts was really backward; they didn't even have streetlights or anything.
William raised his wand, waved it, and whispered, "Flash of Light."
A soft white light hung from the tip of the wand, and then, a burst of light erupted, shooting out like fireworks and illuminating the path for nearly fifty meters.
Hagrid's gruff laughter drifted from afar: "Thanks, William, you know I can't use magic!"
Qiu stared at William's face as if she were just getting to know him.
"You can already cast spells?"
Previously, when William was looking at a second-grade spellbook, Cho thought he was just pretending, but now it seems that wasn't the case...
William shrugged. "Isn't that simple?"
When those words came out, William was suddenly taken aback.
In his past life, when he asked those profound math questions, the top students would smile slightly, look at him with pity for someone with intellectual disabilities, and casually say, "Isn't this simple?"
Merlin's beard! William can actually say something like that without a care in the world. Is this the legendary level of a top student?
But William soon regretted it. After he used his wand to emit light, the first-year wizards seemed to have found their leader and crowded around him.
William experienced the same crowded feeling of the Spring Festival travel rush again, and he roared, "Stop pushing... Hey! Whose groping hand is that? Stop touching me!"
Hagrid chuckled and shouted, "After you turn this corner, you'll see Hogwarts for the first time!"
Sure enough, after a loud cry of surprise, a black lake suddenly appeared at the end of the narrow path.
On the high hillside across the lake stands a majestic castle, its spires towering and its windows twinkling under the starry sky.
"No more than four people in each boat!" Hagrid shouted, pointing to a group of small boats moored on the shore, as if the boats would sink if there were more than four people in them.
At this point, pushing and shoving broke out again, as everyone wanted to sit on the same boat as William.
This small boat looks unsafe, and it has to cross a large lake. What if it falls in?
William has magic, so being on the same ship with him would at least give me some sense of security.
"Line up!" Hagrid used his large frame to block the wall of people, gesturing for William and Cho to hurry up and get on the ship.
After that, two more little wizards were randomly picked from the crowd and thrown up, and the noise gradually subsided.
"Is everyone on board?" Hagrid called out, as he was traveling alone in his boat.
"Let's go then!"
A fleet of small boats began to move automatically without any wind, gliding across the mirror-like surface of the lake and sailing forward.
Everyone remained silent, gazing at the enormous castle that soared into the clouds.
As they approached the cliff where the castle stood, it seemed to rise high above them.
"Duck!" Hagrid shouted as the first small boats approached the cliff.
Everyone lowered their heads as the small boat carried them through the ivy curtain covering the front of the cliff to a hidden, open entrance.
They followed a dark tunnel, seemingly underground to the castle, and finally arrived at a place resembling an underground dock, before climbing onto a ground covered with gravel and pebbles.
Illuminated by Hagrid's lantern, the group climbed a tunnel through the rocky hillside and finally reached a flat, damp meadow in the shadow of the castle.
They climbed a stone staircase and gathered in front of a huge oak door.
Hagrid raised a huge fist and pounded it three times on the castle gate.
Bang bang bang!
The door opened, and a wizard walked out.
