Chapter 46 Sin City

In an abandoned park in the Bronx, north of New York City.

Two black men dressed in hip-hop outfits are beating up a Mexican woman.

"You lowly old Latin American woman, you dared to resist after I told you to hand over your wallet! Today I'll teach you a lesson!"

Just as the two were locked in a fierce battle, a sharp whooshing sound suddenly came from afar, causing them to instinctively raise their heads.

But the next second, a question mark appeared in their minds:

"Wat Fuck?"

What did they see?

They saw a black dot in the distance that seemed to be slowly growing larger. When it got closer, they discovered that the black dot was actually a tree trunk with a diameter of at least one meter.

If that were all, it wouldn't be anything special. The key point is that there was actually a person standing on that big tree.

A person was standing on a tree trunk, flying in the sky. The two rubbed their eyes, thinking that they must have dozed off too much before leaving home, and that's why they were hallucinating.

However, they soon discovered that it was not a hallucination at all.

With a loud bang, the tree trunk plunged straight into the lawn about ten meters away from them.

The person standing on the tree trunk leaped up in advance, flipped 360 degrees in the air like a gymnast, and landed steadily on the ground.

The mud splashed up when the tree trunk plunged into the lawn and landed on their faces was so real.

"The calculation was correct; the landing error was less than five meters—perfect!"

Looking at his surroundings, Hawking nodded in satisfaction.

During his previous holiday, he had specifically come to the Bronx to scout locations, and this abandoned park was the best landing spot he could think of, as there were few people living nearby and it was not easy to be discovered.

New York City has five boroughs: the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island.

Manhattan is a well-known affluent area and a symbol of New York City. Many large companies have their headquarters in Manhattan, such as Tony Stark's Stark Industries.

On the east side of Manhattan, separated from Manhattan by the East River, lies Queens.

Queens is the largest borough in New York City by area, the second most populous, and has the second-highest economic level after Manhattan. It is also home to some well-known companies, such as Oxley Industries.

Adjacent to Queens on the south side is Brooklyn, the most populous area in New York City and the birthplace of Captain America, Steve Rogers.

Of course, there is no Captain America in this universe, only Captain Peggy Carter.

Staten Island is the southernmost part of New York City. It has the smallest population and is quite far away. It can be seen as a small island in the sea, with beautiful sea views.

Finally, there's the Bronx, where Hawking now lives, bordering Manhattan and located at the northernmost part of New York City.

The mutant school is located in the suburbs further north of the Bronx, and Oleg and Elena's workplace and residence are also on the border between the Bronx and the suburbs, belonging to a company owned by Professor X's family.

I used to hear that the most dangerous place in New York was Hell's Kitchen in Manhattan, the place where Daredevil was often seen.

However, after three years of investigation, Hawking discovered that while Hell's Kitchen was indeed dangerous, it was only a few blocks away. In terms of the actual number of crimes, the Bronx was the place to go.

Hell's Kitchen is just a slum in Manhattan, but the Bronx is a slum for the whole of New York City.

Because most of New York's African American and Latino population lives in this borough, the Bronx has one of the highest crime rates in the United States, and even in the world.

The southern part of the Bronx, in particular, is notoriously chaotic, comparable to Vice City in video games.

Therefore, this place naturally became Hawking's first choice for earning justice points, as it was close to the school and had a high crime rate.

"Is this a great start?"

After landing gracefully, Hawking quickly noticed two black men holding his briefcase, staring in disbelief, and a middle-aged woman lying on the ground, her face bruised and swollen.

With a cheerful stride, he approached the two Black men:

"I kindly suggest that you return the purse to her."

"Fuck you!"

The two black men exchanged a glance, then pulled out daggers from their pockets and stabbed Hawking in the stomach.

This surprised him somewhat. He thought the two guys would be frightened after seeing what had just happened, but he didn't expect them to be so bold.

In fact, he only came here occasionally during holidays to survey the terrain. Although he had some knowledge about the crime situation here, it was only through newspapers and some hearsay.

He didn't know that those thugs who lived at the bottom of society, leading a life of uncertainty, and who might die in the sewers at any moment, had long since lost their normal mindset.

In their eyes, Hawking may seem unbelievable, but so what? If they dare to ask them to return the spoils they could use to buy drugs, they should ask the knife in their hand first.

The key point is that Hawking didn't have a gun; in their eyes, guns are the only truly comprehensible and deterrent weapons.

Compared to these petty thugs, it is those high-ranking officials who have fought their way to a good life who are more afraid of losing their lives.

"Then don't blame me."

He swiftly reached out and grabbed the wrists of the two black men holding knives, twisting them upwards with force.

"Clatter!"

Two sounds of bones breaking rang out, followed by two black men letting out piercing screams.

He never showed mercy to those who wanted him dead.

Besides, there are no reporters or other people here, so there's no need to put on a show. You can act without any scruples.

"Let's go quickly."

He kicked the two black men twice in the stomach, causing them to vomit blood and fall to the ground. Hawking then picked up his briefcase and tossed it to the middle-aged woman who had just gotten up.

"Thanks!"

The middle-aged woman picked up the purse, thanked the man, and ran away, fearing that what happened next would implicate her.

Hawking didn't care; his goal was to earn justice points, not to express gratitude.

"You poor wretch!"

He reached out and searched the two black men, finding less than twenty dollars, which made him slightly annoyed.

Since the school provided food and lodging, he was naturally too embarrassed to ask the Ogles for any pocket money.

Putting the twenty dollars in his pocket, ignoring the two unconscious black men, Hawking leaped and disappeared from the park, arriving at the rooftop of a six-story building on a nearby street.

"Flavoid!"

He reached out and cast a transformation spell on his sportswear, which instantly transformed into a domineering golden armor. He picked up a fallen leaf that was carried by the wind and turned it into a golden helmet, which he then put on his head.

If the goal is to establish a superhero image, then a distinctive outfit is essential.

The more eye-catching and handsome someone is, the more attention they will attract and the more people will admire them. Wearing a helmet is not to reduce trouble, but to create an air of mystery.

That way, the final revelation of their identities will be truly explosive.

Besides earning justice points, all he did was to lay the groundwork for the future of Superhero International.

He's not a naive person who just acts cool and shows off.
