Chapter 286 Late arrival

Ike waved his hand to disperse the surrounding dust, and Greyback and the remaining werewolves ran up behind him, their faces once again showing a savage grin.

The werewolves suffered heavy losses in the battle, and now only eleven or twelve remain, all wounded, with many missing limbs. But their morale is even higher, whether from Ike or the Dementors above them, it's unclear.

Trees and boulders hurtled in from afar, engulfing the battlefield and even the train carriages on both sides, still emitting screams, within the attack range.

No one dared to relax, letting the guardians continue to drive away the Dementors, their wands all aimed at the giant creature hurtling down from the sky.

"Thunderous explosion!"

"Torn apart!"

"Crushed to pieces!"

One after another, magical spells shot into the sky, shattering the large trees and boulders. The scattered fragments of rocks and tree debris fell down, only to be blocked by a huge silver shield, with a continuous crackling sound.

Hermione struggled to stay upright, but the silver shield could only protect the Order of the Phoenix and the Ministry of Magic; it couldn't stop the flying debris heading towards the carriage. Fortunately, the debris wasn't large, only making a racket against the carriage walls and windows, without injuring anyone inside.

After the rubble fell from above, Hermione put away her silver shield, her legs buckling as she took a step forward to regain her balance. Her weakness was visibly obvious, but she dared not stop to rest, for the men who had thrown the boulders and trees were already upon her.

The tall horse, clad in armor forged by fairies, charged at the forefront, wielding a greatsword in one hand and a battle axe in the other. Behind him followed a dozen or so slightly shorter giants, howling and brandishing thick tree trunks, their very being radiating ferocity.

"Watch out! Spread out!"

The Order of the Phoenix and the Ministry of Magic scattered, hastily dodging the giants' first wave of attacks. But then, the remaining werewolves rushed over, directly targeting the disheveled group.

Lupin faced Greyback again, Sirius Black remained by Harry's side, while the others fought the werewolves. This time, they were quick to act, defeating the nameless werewolf minions in no time.

However, this also means they will have to face even more ferocious giants.

Moody and the Weasleys struggled to catch the heavily armored giant, and the spells they cast had little effect. The other giants, though not wearing armor like the giant, quickly gained the upper hand due to their resistance to magic, chasing Bill, Fleur, and the others around. Especially with Bill carrying the barely breathing Tonks on his back, they would likely have been smashed to pieces by the giants had it not been for Fleur's help.

Just as the giants were wreaking havoc and even preparing to attack the train that had been broken in two, a dense wave of magic struck them hard, immediately stopping them and making them protect their heads and faces. Even the tall horse was forced to retreat by the impact of the spell.

"Protect the students! Stop these damned giants!"

A man who looked like an old lion shouted loudly, and as soon as he finished speaking, dozens of wizards wearing trench coats and bowler hats rushed out from behind him.

"You're late, Rufus!"

Moody shouted, his face full of excitement.

"That's enough to save your wretched life!"

"Thunderous explosion!"

Scrimgeour rushed to Moody's side in a few steps, and casually cast an explosive spell on the unsteady tall horse.

"Kill these disgusting bastards!"

The arrival of the Ministry of Magic's reinforcements put the giants at a disadvantage. While each of the elite Aurora warriors might struggle against a giant individually, two or three working together could easily handle them.

Even with their clumsy coordination, the Order of the Phoenix and the Aurors were still enough to overwhelm the towering giants. Before long, the giants were screaming in agony as they fled in disarray. The tall horse, clad in divine armor, didn't hold out much longer either. It was defeated by Moody, Scrimgeour, the Weasleys, and the Aurors who had freed themselves to fight. When it escaped, it was left with only half of its armor and its battle axe.

After driving away the giants, the werewolves were almost completely wiped out. Only Greyback escaped in the chaos, while the rest were left behind. Of the dozens of werewolves, only five or six survived.

Scrimgeour's face showed no joy of victory; instead, it grew even more somber.

"Quick! Rescue the students!"

He gave the order, and the Aoruo were about to act when Modi stopped them.

"Not yet, Rufus."

Scrimgeour stared coldly at Moody, his tone turning icy.

"Give me a reason, Alastor."

"The danger is not over yet, Rufus." Moody's own eyes were fixed on Scrimgeour, while his Demon Eye kept moving.

"Danger? There's still danger?" Scrinker asked, puzzled. He even thought Moody had gone mad.

Before he could say anything more, Moody suddenly pulled him, causing him to stumble and fall to the side. In his panic, he saw the Weasleys, Lupin, Sirius, and Harry all casting a spell at the spot where he had just been.

The next second, a tremendous force hurled his body high into the air, then slammed him hard into Ao Luo, who was still caught off guard.

It took a lot of effort to stand up. When he looked again, he saw a tall, thin young man standing in the spot where he had been standing, surrounded by a softly glowing light shield that was still swaying.

The man's face was cold, his wand extended forward, and a golden light slowly dissipated behind Moody, revealing a bloody hole the size of a finger.
