Chapter 160 Rita's Fear
Chapter 160 Rita's Fear
After the wand test was completed, Dumbledore and the other judges took a photo with the warriors, and then it was Rita's turn for an interview.
Fleur and Krum went first, then it was Ekko's turn.
In the specially prepared classroom, Rita visibly shivered when Ike walked in.
"Mr. Streid, please have a seat."
Rita adjusted her glasses, a quill pen floating beside her, but Ike could clearly sense her nervousness.
"Hello, Ms. Starkey."
Perhaps it was a burst of mischievousness, but Ike revealed a standard "dragon king crooked mouth" expression, and the next second, the quill pen he was holding fell to the ground.
"I...we, let's begin, Mr. Streid."
Rita forced herself to remain calm, and the quill flew up again. But this time, it was caught directly in Ike's hand.
"It's a fascinating little gadget, Ms. Starkey." Ike fiddled with the quill pen, his eyes fixed on Rita. "But I don't think we need this for this interview, do we?"
"Of course, as you wish."
Rita frantically pulled a quill pen and ink from her handbag, placed the notebook on her lap, and then adjusted her glasses.
"What does it feel like to become a champion of Hogwarts?"
"Snapped!"
This time, both the quill pen and the notebook fell to the ground, simply because Ike suddenly leaned forward and stretched out the hand holding the quill pen.
"You seem quite afraid of me, Ms. Starkey," Ike said calmly.
"I'm...I'm sorry, I..."
Ike raised his hand, interrupting Rita. He leaned back in his chair, crossed his legs, and said casually, "I believe you've done a lot of preparation for this interview and have a good understanding of me."
"And if the rumors I've heard are true, you've already prepared your answer in your mind." Ike chuckled, fiddling with his quill pen again. "However, before meeting me, you didn't know I was 'Ike Streid,' right..."
Seeing Rita nodding frantically like a chick pecking at rice, Ike clicked his tongue and said, "Don't be like that. I'm just a fourth-year wizard. You're a well-known reporter in the wizarding world."
"To be honest, some of your articles are quite interesting, and I really enjoy reading them."
As he spoke, ignoring Rita's visible fear, Ike calmly bent down and picked up the quill pen and notebook from the ground, placing them, along with the one he had been playing with, into Rita's hand.
"You're a smart person, so you must understand that there are some things that can't be written carelessly." Ike stood up, his hands supporting him on the back of Rita's chair, and lowered his head slightly, his voice suddenly becoming very low.
"You remember that night, right...?"
As soon as he finished speaking, without waiting for Rita's reply, Ike gently patted Rita's shoulder and left.
It was a pleasant surprise, because before meeting Rita, Ike had forgotten that after the Soul Reaper's Curse was lifted, the cursed person would retain memories of the time they were cursed. And clearly, Rita was terrified by her experience last year.
It's safe to say that she definitely wouldn't want any contact with Ike if it weren't for the necessity of interviewing all four warriors.
As it happens, Ike also doesn't want Rita's article, which is about to be published in the Daily Prophet, to contain any exaggerated or untrue content.
He doesn't mind being interviewed, but he hates anything that isn't true.
Moreover, Ike was utterly disgusted by this woman who loved to fabricate stories, and the fact that she was so afraid of him actually satisfied a little bit of his perverse pleasure.
Sure enough, after Rita's article was published in the Daily Prophet, the information about Ike was mostly factual. There wasn't much, and compared to the other three warriors, it was pitifully little.
Harry takes up the largest portion of the page, with extensive embellishments and distortions about his background, parents, studies, and life filling an entire page. Meanwhile, Krum, Fleur, and Ike are relegated to a corner with only brief introductions.
Moreover, perhaps due to a special investigation, Rita's article did not mention anything about Hermione at all, and thus, there was no "rumor" about Harry and Hermione.
It can be said that the world where only Harry is injured has finally been achieved through Rita's writing.
Malfoy was probably the happiest; he would often suddenly appear next to Harry with that newspaper in hand, reading aloud its contents.
Every time, it would elicit uproarious laughter from everyone.
As for whether the content is true or false, who cares?
And soon, everyone's attention was drawn to something else.
The date for the first event of the Triwizard Tournament has finally been set!
"Dragon, Ike! You're going to fight a dragon!"
The day before the match, when Hermione and Harry told Ike the news, the little witch was furious at Ike's nonchalant attitude.
"Did you hear me?"
"I heard that, dealing with a dragon, right? This is our first project." Ike nodded, calmly looking at Hermione and Harry. "So?"
"So? You have a way to deal with dragons?" Hermione asked anxiously.
"Of course." As he spoke, Ike began to count on his fingers, "Transformation Charm, Stunning Charm, Polymorph, Fire Charm, many spells can harm fire dragons."
"That's simply unrealistic!" Hermione retorted immediately. "It takes Charlie and his crew more than a dozen people to subdue a dragon. You can't expect Harry to use magic to defeat one!"
Ike shrugged and said nonchalantly, "But that's exactly what I plan to do."
Hermione: "..."
Harry: "..."
Hermione had clearly forgotten Ike's formidable record.
In some ways, what he dealt with was far more terrifying than a dragon.
"Honestly, you seem to have fallen into a misconception," Ike said with a smile. "It's impossible for an ungraduated student to kill a fire dragon in the tournament. Many adult wizards and even professors can't do that."
"So, in my opinion, there's a good chance we just need to temporarily render the fire dragon inactive, or avoid its attacks."
Seeing Ike shrug, Hermione suddenly slapped her forehead.
"Honestly, I almost forgot!"
"Harry, we've completely misunderstood!"
"I'm glad you recognize that," Ike laughed. "Don't forget that the Triwizard Tournament tests not only a warrior's magical abilities, but also their logical thinking and adaptability in the face of danger."
"and……"
Pointing to Moody, who was walking towards them on crutches, Ike said, "Someone will get you a way, Harry."
