Chapter 159 Wand Testing

Chapter 159 Wand Testing

More than a week later, the three-way battle finally made some progress.

Ike was in a spells class at the time, but soon he received a notice that he needed to go to an abandoned classroom on the fifth floor for some preparations for a match.

Professor Flitwick gave him the green light, and he walked out of the Charms classroom amidst applause.

The abandoned classrooms on the fifth floor had actually been cleaned up long ago. They were originally intended to meet the borrowing needs of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. Although the two schools did not use these classrooms for some reason, which Ike regretted for a long time, these classrooms were not abandoned again.

And it's quite obvious that they've been dealt with again recently.

Upon entering the house, the first thing you see is Ludo chatting with a witch wearing a magenta robe.

"You're the first, Ike!" Ludo looked delighted. "They haven't even arrived yet!"

"May I know what it is, Mr. Bagman?" Ike asked with a smile, then looked at the witch next to him, whose expression had been very unnatural since he came in.

"And this one is...?"

"Oh, this is Rita Starkey. She's writing an article for the Daily Prophet about the tournament. She'll need you to take some photos and do a short interview later..." Ludo walked over and patted Ike on the shoulder, saying, "Of course, the most important thing is the wand testing ceremony. We need to check if your wands are fully functional and in good working order. After all, wands will be your most important tool in the upcoming tournament."

"Dumbledore is upstairs with the experts. They'll be here once you're all here." He glanced at his watch. "Just wait a moment, it'll be quick."

"Okay, Mr. Bagman." Ike nodded and walked to a seat to the side. During this time, Rita's gaze remained fixed on Ike.

"Ms. Starkey, Ms. Starkey..." Ludo said, noticing that Rita seemed a little distracted. "What's wrong, Ms. Starkey?"

"It's nothing, Mr. Bagman." Rita shook her head, giving a charming smile. "I'm just a little curious, you know, most of us have a curious mind."

"Of course..." Ludo laughed, "In fact, it's quite amazing that he became a warrior. You know, he actually..."

While Ludo and Rita were chatting quietly, Krum and Fleur arrived. After greeting Ludo, Krum went straight to a corner and leaned against the wall, remaining silent. Fleur, on the other hand, walked directly towards Ike.

"You don't look fifteen," Hibiscus said with a graceful sit down on the chair next to her, smiling sweetly. "If someone hadn't told me, I would have really thought you were the same age as us."

"Maybe I look older than my age," Ike replied. Of course, he wouldn't mention that this was one of the "side effects" of using the time converter; such things were completely unnecessary to discuss.

"That's really interesting," Fleur said. "I've heard a lot about you these past few days. Did you really send that crazy-eyed Moody to the hospital?"

"It's not that exaggerated. Professor Moody only stayed in the school hospital for one day, while I was lying there for more than ten days," Ike explained.

"Really? I haven't heard of that." Furong nodded thoughtfully.

The two chatted casually, and soon Harry finally arrived.

He looked preoccupied, somewhat absent-minded and lost. He mechanically greeted Ludo and then tried to come over to Ike. However, before he could even get there, Rita, who also seemed preoccupied, excitedly pulled him away and slipped into the broom shed in the corner.

"This... reporter, has this always been the case?" Furong seemed quite surprised.

"I don't know either," Ike replied. "She's a very famous reporter, very popular."

"But unfortunately, I don't read newspapers often, so I don't know much about her."

After a while, Dumbledore, Madam Maxim, Karkaroff, Crouch the Elder, and Mr. Ollivander entered the room. Not finding Harry, Dumbledore asked, "Where's Harry? Hasn't he arrived yet?"

"Rita pulled him into the broom room; she wanted to interview Harry first," Ludo explained.

Upon hearing this, Dumbledore immediately opened the door to the broom room and quickly brought Harry out.

"Alright, everyone's here. Please allow me to introduce Mr. Ollivander. He will check your wands to make sure they are in good condition before the competition."

Ollivander walked to the center of the room with a beaming smile, nodded slightly to the five referees, and said, "Well then, let's begin. Miss Delacour, you may go first, okay?"

Upon hearing this, Hibiscus stepped forward and handed over her wand.

"Very good, not bad..." Ollivander carefully examined the wand, using it to release many small sparks and ribbons. "Nine and a half inches, very flexible, made of maple wood, and..."

"Veveled hair?"

"Yes, that's my grandma's hair," Furong said.

"Very good, in good condition." Ollivander nodded, said nothing more, and returned the wand to Fleur.

"Mr. Krum, it's your turn."

Krum looked rather listless and casually shoved the wand over.

"This is..." Ollivander frowned unconsciously. "Grigorich's work? Although I don't quite agree with some of his views, it's a good wand."

"Hornbeak wood, dragon heartstring, ten and a quarter inches..."

"Very good, very good." After handing it back to Krum, Ollivander said, "Then, Mr. Potter, it's your turn."

Harry was in a much better mood than when he came in and handed over his wand. Ollivander's expression immediately changed, and a smile appeared on his face.

"I remember, I remember this wand..." Ollivander examined it very carefully, much more carefully than Fleur and Krum. "It's very well preserved, there's absolutely no problem."

"Well then, the last one, Mr. Strayder, your wand..."

Ollivander took Ike's wand and frowned for the second time. He examined it more carefully, glancing up at Ike every now and then.

"I recognize it, this is my work..."

"Cedar wood, unicorn hair, twelve and three-quarters inches, a stable combination, a loyal wand..." Ollivander waved his wand, and a cloud of white mist floated out from the tip of the wand.

"It's amazing, truly amazing. I can sense that this wand has been through some very dangerous things, which has made it even more mature..."

"It must be a good helper for you, Mr. Strayed, it's rejecting me." Ollivander handed the wand back. "It's like new, that's amazing."

"Thank you everyone, that's all for now."
