Chapter 922 The Black Tide Monster Appears Ahead of Schedule

Maria stepped forward to block Thor, "Before the Black Tide officially arrives, there will indeed be sporadic Black Tide monsters appearing, which is different from the Red Sea."

As she spoke, the rotting goat monster rushed in front of Maria. Maria crossed her arms in front of her chest and uttered indistinct sounds.

Maria raised her hand and released a magic scroll. The scroll burned in the air and transformed into a sharp arrow, piercing the rotting goat, which was engulfed in flames, from the center of its head to the base of its tail.

Then the rotting goat, which had been roaring silently, suddenly became weak and turned to ashes in the flames.

Ashes fell from the gaps in the flames, among which was a palm-sized piece of grayish-white bone.

Maria's eyes lit up, and she immediately rushed down.

She caught the bone near the surface of the sea, but at that moment, a huge circular shadow suddenly appeared below the surface.

The shadow appeared silently, and Maria's attention was entirely focused on her spoils, so she didn't notice where she was stepping.

As Mary approached the sea, the shadow suddenly emerged from beneath the surface, revealing itself to be a large mouth with a ring of sharp teeth!

Maria only realized what was happening when the monster leaped out of the sea, and immediately prepared to escape upwards while releasing a protective shield.

However, while she was so nervous that she had no time to think about Thor above, a large number of black objects suddenly fell from her body.

It was as if a black rainstorm had suddenly fallen.

"Eee-yaaaaaah!"

The giant mouth on the sea surface immediately let out a wail, spewing out a foul odor from its throat, which knocked Maria off balance.

She had just regained her footing in the air when she looked down and saw that the huge mouth that had been about to ambush her was now riddled with holes.

Seawater surged up through the opening of the wound, and the giant-mouthed monster sank, spouting jets of water from its mouth, somewhat like a fountain in a small square.

As the monster sank, the water column gathered into a puddle, eventually merging into the deep blue sea.

Maria glanced up at Thor and, seeing that he didn't move, immediately jumped into the sea. She circled the sinking monster for a while before drying off and returning to Thor's side.

Her smile held a mixture of shock and admiration as she handed the grayish-white bone to Thor. "That big-mouthed monster fish didn't have any gray bones, so here, take this one. Without you, even if I had escaped, I certainly wouldn't have been able to protect it."

Thor made no feigned politeness and accepted the grayish-white skeletal remains.

This grayish-white skeleton is quite similar to the skeletal monster Thor obtained in the Chaotic Realm. It contains a small amount of Black Tide pollution, and the corrosive feeling of it trying to penetrate your body upon contact and seep into your brain along the skin's texture is exceptionally pronounced.

But it was this undisguised aggression that caused Thor to immediately go on the defensive upon contact with it.

However, the pollution here is nothing compared to the skeletal monsters brought from the Chaotic Realm.

"This monster is half-rotten, the Chaotic Realm is full of bones, and the world beyond the Chaotic Realm is filled with grayish-white skeletons. Could there be some kind of progressive relationship between them?"

Thor was deep in thought, and Maria, unaware of his thoughts, assumed he was using his mental powers to study the Ash Bones.

She enthusiastically explained to Thor, "This kind of ash bone is a specialty of the Wailing Wall. Some can also be found in the southeastern waters of Neflet, but the quantity and size are incomparable to those produced by the monsters here. Looking at the gray bones in his hand, Thor was reminded of how his bones had turned black due to the Black Tide.

Is this considered a kind of alienation of the ash bones?

When the Ash Bones are defeated by the Black Tide, they will completely rot and turn into skeleton monsters. If they are then affected by the Eye of the Abyss, will they become anchor points?

But if the ash bones withstand the pollution and develop "resistance", then will they eventually turn into Thor's black skeleton?

"No wonder he took one of my arms back then," Thor murmured. "Flim's real target probably wasn't my modified Soul Eater, but my bones."

Seeing that Maria was still looking at him, Thor put away the Ash Bone. "Thank you. I'm actually quite interested in this Ash Bone. I'll return it to you when I encounter a Black Tide monster and get the Ash Bone."

Maria smiled generously, a few wrinkles appearing at the corners of her eyes. "No need, no need. I can collect quite a lot more when the Black Tide invades. This is to thank you for your help just now, how can I let you return it to me?"

The wizards at the Wailing Wall seem quite generous. Could it be that Murphy's merit-based resource allocation system has fostered their current way of interacting?

It is a solitary tower deep in the stormy sea.
