Chapter 6 Level 1 Wizard Apprentice

Chapter 6 First-Level Wizard Apprentice

"Save me, save me, save me...kill me!!!"

"call!"

Thor opened his eyes and sat up abruptly.

"Sir, you're awake?" A boy quickly got up from the ground and approached Thor.

"George?" Thor recognized the boy as the one sleeping to his right.

In that large dormitory, only George was relatively friendly to Saul.

Thor had just transmigrated and only had scattered memories of the original owner. Many things about the Wizard Tower were told to him secretly by George.

Fearing being bullied by other boys, George never dared to speak to Saul in front of others.

Now, George, with a fawning smile, picked up a bowl of soup.

"My lord, are you hungry? Shall I serve you a meal?"

Saul pushed the soup away.

"No, I'm not hungry. What time is it? How long have I been unconscious?"

"Sir, you've been unconscious for about an hour. It's eight o'clock in the morning... a little past eight." George looked back at the hourglass on the wall and could barely make out the time.

Following George's gaze, Saul realized that he was in a single bedroom.

A 1.5-meter-wide wooden bed, two long desks, two high-backed chairs, and an empty bookcase occupying an entire wall—these are all the major furnishings in the room.

A blue hourglass also hangs on the wall.

The hourglass has markings, and at this moment the sand is just below the eight o'clock mark.

"This is... a wizard apprentice's room? I passed the test?" Thor felt a warm current rise from the bottom of his heart and slowly spread throughout his body.

Excitement, thrill, and the sheer relief of surviving a close call brought a silly grin to his face.

"Hehehe..." Seeing Thor laugh, George quickly followed suit, "Congratulations, sir!"

Saul realized his lapse in composure, quickly composed himself, and coughed lightly twice.

"George, what are you doing here?"

George immediately knelt down and looked up, saying, "Sir, the steward sent me to take care of you."

It turned out that after Saul fell into a coma, the butler took him to an empty room on the sixth floor and asked George, who had volunteered, to take care of him until he woke up.

After listening to George's words, Thor fell into deep thought.

"Now that I've been sent to the wizard apprentice's room, they must have already accepted my identity. But if nothing unexpected happens, my magical talent is still very low. If I can't find a way to improve it, I'm afraid I'll only ever be a first-level wizard apprentice."

Because he fainted, he escaped the magic test, but as a result, Thor was unsure of his true magical talent.

I need to find some time to secretly test it.

The excitement of becoming a wizard's apprentice and the worry about the arduous road ahead left Thor with a complex mix of emotions.

After a while, he exhaled and noticed that George was still kneeling on the ground, staring at him expectantly.

"Uh, George, get up."

"My lord!" George dared to speak only after Saul came to his senses. "My lord, please allow me to be your personal servant!"

"Personal servants?" Thor had no memory of such a thing.

George glanced cautiously at Saul's left hand, then quickly looked away.

"Yes, sir. I have seen other wizard apprentices appoint servants to attend to their daily needs. If you accept me, I will certainly serve you well."

Seeing Saul hesitate, George crawled to the bedside and lowered his voice, "Sir, I can be your informant and keep an eye on Brown for you."

Brown? The boy who always bullied me?

"Sir, I discovered that Brown was taken out twice after you woke up from your injury. After that, he became even more arrogant than before, and he even deliberately instigated everyone to target you, assigning you the task of cleaning the corridors in the early morning, which was originally done in shifts."

Thor's pupils contracted sharply.

So, those boys weren't just bullying me; someone was instigating them.

His left hand, hidden in his sleeve, slowly clenched.

Someone wants me dead!

Seeing this, George knew his information would be useful to Saul, and quickly added, "Sir, I can help you find out who's behind Brown."

Thor didn't hesitate for long before shaking his head and refusing George.

"No, don't make any moves," Solton said after a moment's thought. "Just keep an eye on Brown's movements every day, but don't investigate actively. As for the personal servants, I'll ask the butler once things are settled on my end."

George was slightly disappointed, but he quickly rallied. He knelt upright and said, "I understand, sir! If you need me, please summon me at any time. George is willing to give his life for you!"

The boy, though only twelve years old, had a face full of loyalty and enthusiasm.

Saul paid no heed to such empty rhetoric. He waved for George to rise and then asked him, "Do you know what you're supposed to do as an apprentice?"

This time, George shook his head blankly.

That's true. George was called over later, so we can't expect him to know everything.

Saul didn't want George to draw too much attention, so he told him to go back first, while he wandered around the house to see if he could find any useful information.

He was unconscious during the wizard apprentice test, so he probably missed a lot of information.

Saul's room was a small single room, nothing like Kongsa's. Apart from basic necessities, the rest of the room was empty.

Saul found a blank scroll and a blotting pen under the long table.

This means that learning is permitted.

He held the two items in his arms, pursed his lips, and began to smile again.

His precarious life as a servant was finally over.

He no longer needs to worry every day about how he will die.

A bright future seems to be within reach.

He knew he wasn't particularly talented, and that he was lucky to have survived to become a first-level apprentice.

"Even if I can't advance, it doesn't matter. I'm willing to stay at the same level until I die of old age."

"Knock knock!"

Someone knocked on the door.

Thor composed himself and quickly went to open the door.

He recognized the person outside the door; he was one of the two people who had been tested before him.

She was a freckled girl with braided pigtails, wearing a simple blue dress and carrying a stiff cloth shoulder bag on her back.

"I saw your servant leave, so I figured you were awake and came over to say hello." The freckled girl spoke expressionlessly, her head bobbing as she spoke. "My name is Keli, and I live in room 603 next to yours."

Taking the initiative to greet someone should be a warm gesture, but Ke Li's expression was a bit too cold.

"Hello, my name is Thor."

Claire looked at the book and pen in Thor's arms and nodded slightly in approval. "I came to find you because you have a great talent for mental power, while I have a great talent for magic. Excellent people should walk side by side with other excellent people."

Thor twitched his lips.

"Secondly, because you were the only one among those who passed the test and survived."

Thor's heart sank upon hearing Claire's words.

As expected, all the servants who failed the test died.

Therefore, if you lack talent, opportunity can turn into disaster.

"I noticed your clothes are the same as those of the servants in the tower, so I'm guessing you're all servants participating in the test. Since you were able to go from servant to apprentice, your willpower must be quite strong."

Although Claire was praising him, Thor didn't feel happy for some reason.

"That's why I've come to befriend you."

Saul really wanted to ask, "Then why should I befriend you?"

But he held back.
