Chapter 505 Welcome

Chapter 505 Welcome

Although the aura emanating from the evil spirit in front of him was not particularly strong, Thor remained vigilant and on high alert.

Although the Battle of Chui Shou Valley took place a hundred years ago, too many wizards died there. The chaotic spirits, coupled with the long-term repression, created many eerie and terrifying contaminations.

However, just as Thor was still preparing to use his magic to strike first, Morton advised him to try not to attack the evil spirits here.

Some evil spirits may appear to be singular, but disturbing one could unleash a whole host of them. If you accidentally step into a trap, things can get even more complicated.

Morton is an old man from the Valley of Fallen Hands. Although he spends most of his time on the outskirts, he is very powerful and knows the most about this place.

Following Morton's advice, Thor took another look at the hanging corpse in front of him.

The other party has not yet shown any intention to attack.

The diary contained no clues.

"Marsh, let's go around the cliff."

The coachman nodded, glanced again at the corpse in mid-air, swallowed hard, and carefully drove the carriage to the right.

Fortunately, the body did not object to the carriage's "detour" and remained hanging on the left side of the cliff.

However, as the carriage passed the corpse and began to move away, Saul, who had been keeping a close eye on the corpse the whole time, suddenly lost his focus and discovered that the corpse was still staring at him.

It turned out that the highly decomposed corpse had suddenly turned halfway around, and its half-skull face was now facing Thor, as if afraid he would run away.

The carriage continued its journey, and the position of the corpse kept changing. It turned a little more and kept its eyes fixed on the location of Saul.

"Is it targeting me?" Thor muttered.

Even the mighty Morton felt uneasy about what he was seeing. Although he was a second-tier evil spirit in life, his soul had shattered after death, making him not the strongest evil spirit in the area. The strongest were the evil spirits near the No Man's Land, and they were also the most corrupted.

The other consciousnesses in the diary also remained silent.

The other consciousnesses knew they couldn't be of much help here, so they all stayed quiet so as not to disturb Morton and Thor's conversation.

Morton: [Well... I'm not sure either. But we didn't provoke it, so we shouldn't be being targeted, right?]

Although the diary has not yet issued any warnings, Saul has not let his guard down.

He told the driver to speed up a little, keeping his eyes on the road ahead while keeping a close eye on the corpse that had been thrown aside.

Unexpectedly, just as the corpse was about to disappear from their sight, it suddenly raised its hands and began swaying like a marionette. Its legs also swayed from side to side.

"What is it doing?" Thor asked, making the consciousnesses in the diary look at the corpse in front of him.

Ann wondered cautiously, "Is it dancing?"

The group of grown men, who had been completely clueless, realized that it might actually be true!

Fortunately, apart from dancing, the corpse did not exhibit any other abnormal behavior.

The carriage continued deeper into the area, and the cliffs on both sides drew ever closer, until they even encountered a monster with a human head!

Those headless monsters hid in the cracks of the rocks, and if Thor hadn't maintained his meditation, he probably would have missed their skin, which was the same color as the rocks, and their even paler eyes.

These human-headed monsters left a deep impression on Thor.

They silently devoured the bodies of several advanced apprentices, and even the formidable Billy and Wright could not escape the encirclement of the head monsters.

Herman: [Morton, weren't you the leader of these head monsters? Can you order them to retreat now?]

Morton: [If I could, I would naturally command those head-like monsters. But in reality, the power that truly gave me the ability to control these monsters came from the corruption itself. Now that I have escaped the corruption, I have naturally severed all ties with these head-like monsters.]

Thor was naturally somewhat disappointed by Morton's words. However, he quickly recovered, knowing he couldn't let his habitual thinking lead him astray.

At this moment, the headless monsters were getting closer and closer to the carriage. They moved with great agility, using their legless feet and heads to surround the carriage.

Thor unleashed his Dark Spirit Blade, ready to confront the human-faced monsters head-on, when he saw the head sway and stop a few meters away... as if it too had started dancing.

They hopped and skipped around Thor, sometimes landing on their left foot, sometimes on their right, like balls being slapped on the ground.

But these head monsters surrounded Thor, yet they didn't block the passage.

In other words, Thor can still pass through the head monster and continue forward.

"Mash".

"Yes," Marsh replied cautiously.

"Keep the carriage moving, but be careful not to fall into the pit," Saul instructed.

Marsh nodded, glancing at the human-headed monster on the ground out of the corner of his eye. He quickly lowered his head, using his years of driving experience to calm the horse, and then slowly moved forward.

As we ventured deeper into the Valley of Falling Hands, the road, which had been smooth, became barren. Furthermore, more potholes appeared on the ground.

These pits, like those on the outskirts of Tate Valley, were created in the past to search for survivors or steal valuables, so one must still be careful when walking through them.

The headless monsters were not affected by Thor's departure. They continued to hop and jump around Thor's original spot, and the sound of their stomping gradually formed a melody.

Agu: [Are they dancing with the corpses that were just hung up?]

Thor recalled the dancing movements of the hanging corpses, then looked at the jubilant human heads on the ground.

"Yes, the headless monster has no arms or legs, so its dancing is very strange; all it does is stomp its feet."

Ann: [But what are they dancing for?]

The headless monster didn't attack until the carriage drove away, and Thor and his consciousnesses still couldn't figure out the purpose of the dance.

However, after Thor was a hundred meters away from the head monster, it could be heard from the sound that the head monster's dance began to become chaotic, turning into a crazy jumping and stomping, and no longer had the rhythm and beauty of before.

An seemed to have thought of something, but she was even more puzzled.

Why do they seem to be welcoming us?

Herman: [Ann, you really have wild ideas!]

An remained silent.

The carriage continued its slow journey, and the caves on the ground began to thin out again.

But then the sound of flowing water could be heard coming from below a few of the caves.

There seems to be an underground river.

This underground river is clearly not simple either.

The horse pulling the carriage was blindfolded. At first, it walked steadily, but for some reason, it started shaking its head and swaying. After a while, it even started to dance, flicking its tongue and stomping its limbs.

The frequency of the stomping was very similar to that of the human-headed monster from before.

Thor cast a calming spell, which calmed the horse down, but soon it suddenly bolted as if startled, its wheels about to sink into a hole in the ground ahead.

Thor raised his hand, preparing to cast a spell. But then he saw a gigantic human face suddenly appear!

The giant face was as large as the entrance to the cave. As the giant face emerged, the cave was filled in and leveled, directly supporting the carriage wheels and allowing the carriage to pass smoothly.

The wheels rolled over, leaving two tracks on its face. Instead of getting angry, it opened its mouth and laughed.

With that eerie laughter, more and more faces emerged from the darkness below, blocking the cave in the ground ahead, as if paving the way for Thor's wagon.

Agu murmured, "Are they really welcoming us?"
