Chapter 4 The Power of the Bones
Chapter 4 The Power of the Bones
All the boys in the room stared at Thor in surprise.
The room fell silent for a moment.
But soon, three boys exchanged glances and stepped forward.
"You're pretty tough, kid!" The first man picked up a chair from the ground and swung it at Thor. "Let's see if your hands are harder, or if your wood is harder!"
Thor stretched out his skeletal left hand and punched the wooden stool.
The wooden stool shattered with a crash, and shards flew all over the other person's face.
But the boys did not attack again.
Everyone fell silent; their faces no longer showed surprise, but terror.
Even Brown, who was lying on the ground groaning, stared in shock at Saul's left hand and instinctively shrank back.
The left hand cannot be hidden.
Their male servants don't have gloves, and they have a lot of daily work, so it's impossible for them not to use their left hand all the time.
Thor decided to reveal his right hand to intimidate everyone, while also making his right hand less conspicuous.
"You...you're cursed?"
Surprisingly, the first thing that came to everyone's mind was a curse.
"Is this curse contagious?"
"Go tell the housekeeper immediately!"
Thor didn't explain. He looked at Brown and suddenly reached out with his left hand to grab him.
"Whoa!!!"
Brown was so frightened that he didn't even care about the injury to his left hand and scrambled backward.
Thor then waved his left hand in front of everyone.
A group of boys were also frightened and screamed, backing away repeatedly.
Thor suddenly realized that he had been acting childishly, but it did make him feel a little better.
"Starting tomorrow, I won't be cleaning the hallways anymore." No one in the room dared to contradict Saul. "You'll take turns!"
He pointed at Brown with his bony index finger. "You're first."
Brown's expression changed immediately.
"Butler, it's him! He's cursed and hasn't reported it!"
A boy's voice came from behind me.
Saul turned around and saw another boy who always mocked him enter with a middle-aged man in a black uniform.
The butler did not show any fear when he saw Saul's hand.
He frowned quickly. "Come with me."
Saul glanced at the informant, then silently followed the butler out.
The two went to the storage room.
"Tell me about it."
"I conducted a live experiment on Lady Kongsa, a second-level wizard apprentice."
The butler was taken aback. "You did this voluntarily?"
Thor was puzzled. If he wasn't acting voluntarily, how could the butler possibly help him with the lawsuit?
"Ahem..." The butler coughed twice. "What I mean is, did Lady Kongsha pay you? If not, you can apply for compensation from the head steward. After all, servants are the tower master's assets, and even an apprentice cannot spend them at will."
Thor didn't believe the butler's words.
Before his time travel, Thor was killed by a wizard apprentice who smashed him with a book. But now that Thor has traveled through time, no one wants to give him an explanation.
The other party was simply testing whether he had any connection with Kong Sha.
Thor replied calmly, "No."
Seeing the butler's expression change slightly, he continued, "Lady Kongsha and I don't need that little bit of compensation."
The butler's expression changed again.
He forced a smile halfway through his anger.
"Ah, haha, alright then, since you... I won't interfere any further. You can go back now. You don't need to work for the next couple of days, so take a good rest."
He glanced warily at Thor's left hand.
Thor bowed slightly. "Thank you, Butler."
He pushed open the door and saw a group of boys crowding at the bedroom doorway, looking in his direction.
Saul walked over, and the boys immediately retreated back into the room.
"You!" Saul pointed at the boy who had snitched, "It's your turn the day after tomorrow."
The other person's face turned as white as Brown's in an instant!
For the next two days, Saul enjoyed a very comfortable life.
No one assigned him any work, so he could wander around most of the fourth floor. No one dared to compete with him for food, so he could at least get hot meals, and occasionally even see meat.
Even the butler brought him a bottle of medicine the next day, supposedly to treat the injury on his head.
ridiculous!
The scar on his forehead is gone.
However, Saul respectfully accepted the medicine and thanked the butler repeatedly.
Everything he enjoys now comes from everyone's speculation about his relationship with Kongsa, but if Thor cannot become a wizard apprentice, then it will all be a bubble, and he will eventually be brought back to reality.
Didn't you see that Kong Sha didn't even bother to know his name back then?
Without becoming a wizard's apprentice, one has no right to be arrogant; Thor can only scare those boys who bully the weak and fear the strong.
On the third day, something happened.
The boy who went to clean the corridor early that morning did not return.
In the end, it was the housekeeper who stepped in and brought the body back.
A boy enthusiastically described to Saul that the dead servant had turned into a flower from his entire head.
The skull serves as the flower's stamen, and the skin and flesh on the face bloom layer by layer, vibrant as fire.
After the butler brought the body back, he handed it over to the garbage room for disposal. Blood dripped all the way, and even Thor, who was resting, was called to help clean the floor.
Saul and a group of boys squatted on the ground, vigorously wiping the blood-stained floor.
None of the wizarding apprentices who passed by paid them any attention.
They were always in a hurry and never cared which servant had died.
Saul even saw Kongsa's chin.
The only difference was that the other person's head was hidden inside a hood, so it wasn't as scary as it was at night.
After I returned, the butler came again.
"I see you've rested enough. You can start working normally tomorrow."
"Okay," Thor readily agreed.
There were people whispering behind me.
Clearly, this near miss with Kong Sha was noticed by someone with ulterior motives.
Because Kongsa didn't waste a single glance on Saul, some people already thought Saul was bluffing.
The butler's brows furrowed even more when he saw that Saul had agreed so readily.
Just as he was about to say something, the door to the room was pushed open again.
It was the head steward who walked in.
"Master Steward," the steward bowed deeply, "what brings you here?"
The head steward ignored the butler's obsequiousness and coldly asked Thor, "You're Thor?"
Saul knew that his chance to accept Kongsa's offer had come.
His hand, hidden in his sleeve, clenched quietly. "Yes, Your Excellency."
"Come with me."
The head steward turned and left, ignoring the butler completely.
Thor stepped aside and walked past the butler, nodding and smiling at him.
A fine layer of sweat instantly appeared on the butler's forehead.
……
Thor followed the steward all the way to the sixth floor.
The sixth to ninth floors are mostly inhabited by novice wizard apprentices, but there are also higher-ranking apprentices who have been promoted but do not want to move away.
Normally, the wizard tower is rarely seen, but today the corridors were packed with people.
They were all children around ten years old, neatly dressed, but none of them had the innocence of childhood on their faces. They were all pale and terrified.
"Go stand at the very back," the steward said casually, pointing with his chin as he led Thor to the back of the line.
"Yes." Thor knew that this was a newly enrolled wizard apprentice. He suppressed his excitement, walked over slowly, and stood quietly at the back of the line.
The person who was originally at the back heard the noise, turned around alertly, looked at Thor, first with doubt, and then with some anger.
Thor didn't know why he had that expression, but he glared back defiantly, unfazed.
After living with those boys for a few days, Saul finally understood.
This world is different from his world. If you are harmonious and friendly, you will only be seen as weak and vulnerable.
Since that's the case, Thor decided to take a hard line.
