Death Wizard Diary.

Chapter 21 Money is indeed hard to earn.
Startled, Saul took two steps back, his feet slamming heavily onto the brick floor.
The corpse tied to the conveyor belt suddenly opened its eyes. Its head didn't move, but its eyes desperately looked to the left.
Upon seeing Thor and Kars, his pupils dilated suddenly and trembled slightly, as if he had seen something exciting.
"Is he still alive?" Thor couldn't help but ask Katz.
"How could that be?" Kaz calmly stepped forward and, in front of Thor, lifted the black leather covering the new apprentice.
Beneath the leather was a cut-open chest, with ribs spread out like wings, the chest empty.
Further down, the legs had turned into strips of flesh mixed with mud and stones.
It's cut really finely.
The apprentice's eyes continued to move, shifting upwards as Kaz moved. His lips parted slightly, revealing his white teeth.
Thor felt his stomach churning.
In the days since he transmigrated, he had seen many bloody and terrifying things in the wizard tower, which made him hold back from vomiting on the spot.
Now, the test for him has begun.
He forced himself not to look away.
The nausea and dizziness persisted, but Thor kept telling himself that it was just an immobile corpse that wouldn't suddenly stand up and swallow half of his face.
The fear lessened slightly.
"His brain is already dead; what remains here isn't his soul. And under normal circumstances, he's not aggressive." Katz covered himself with the black leather cover, turned to Thor, and asked, "Are you afraid?"
Thor took a deep breath of the foul-smelling air.
"Afraid."
"Hmm?" Kaz raised an eyebrow.
"But I can do it."
"Hmph." Instructor Kazi snorted lightly, "This job isn't something you can just do on a whim. The corpse in front of you has already undergone two rounds of processing: danger removal and material recovery. These mutated corpses all need special treatment to eliminate them, otherwise they'll escape and turn the Wizard Tower into a ghost realm. But before eliminating them, we can leave some useful experimental materials. Your job is to do the final cleanup and finishing touches."
Kaz's withered hand slapped onto the black leather.
"Splat!"
"You need to use your knowledge or your inspiration to find the part of this thing that has become demonic due to its mutation, but is not inhabited by any ghosts or monsters. Divide it up and put it into different boxes on the table, then close the lids for recycling and initial sealing. Put the rest into the large box below. After you leave at night, the people outside will take away the boxes and replace them with new ones."
"I will grade your work based on the amount of useful materials submitted. As long as you submit more than five materials each month, you will be considered qualified; if you submit more than ten, you can earn an extra credit."
Kaz raised his chin, pointing to the still-moving corpse. "Now, tell me, which part do you think can be salvaged?"
Thor walked up to the conveyor belt and mustered his courage to point at the constantly trembling eyeballs.
"Is this considered useful?"
"It's no use." Kaz said expressionlessly.
It seems that parts that appear to be active on the surface are not necessarily useful.
It could also be that it has been corrupted by some strange mutation and is no longer usable, so it is useless to wizards.
This money is indeed hard to earn.
Does a dark-attribute wizard deal with corpses and ghosts?
Thor took another deep breath.
He has now gotten used to the smell here, although he still finds it fishy and smelly, but not to the point that it makes him vomit.
He yanked open the black leather and forced himself to look inside.
Perhaps it was because his mental abilities had been developed after becoming an apprentice. Thor was still in pain, but he could now observe the puddle on the conveyor belt with his own eyes without getting dizzy from fright.
To Thor's naked eye, the mutilated corpse looked no different, and Thor couldn't immediately determine where else could be used as material for a wizard.
In the distance, Thor noticed that Katz's left hand was constantly tapping his right arm, his patience about to run out.
"Through my knowledge or my inspiration... but my current knowledge is simply insufficient to help me discern. So, it can only be through inspiration. What is inspiration? Intuition, or spiritual power?"
Thor carefully shifted his gaze to his left shoulder, but unfortunately, his hardcover book was only responsible for keeping him alive, not for making money or doing any work. At this moment, it was as quiet as a salted fish lying flat.
There's only one method Thor can try.
He stood before the new apprentice's corpse and began to contemplate the image of the walking monster.
Without the help of a crystal ball, it's difficult to enter a meditative state. But last night's experience in the lab allowed Thor to enter a semi-meditative state without the aid of a crystal ball.
In this state, he can see elemental particles and things that are normally invisible to the naked eye.
At this moment, in Thor's eyes, the still-movable eyeballs stretched out from his face like snail antennae, moving up and down, curiously observing the world.
The corpse's lips were covered with a layer of hard, black barbs.
The teeth beneath her lips gleamed slightly.
Thor stared at the flashes of light that appeared and disappeared, feeling that they were somewhat familiar.
Like when he used to play games, there were notifications when items dropped.
"I found a bag! I found a bag!"
"Still haven't found it? I can give you a hint: there are at least two retrievable items on this body. If you can find just one, you'll pass."
Kaz's impatient voice interrupted Thor's meditation.
Thor didn't have time to determine whether the images he was seeing with his mental powers were reliable; he pointed at the corpse's mouth.
Kaz frowned. "You mean his mouth?"
No, his teeth.
A brief look of surprise flashed across Kaz's face.
He stepped forward, picked up a thin black stick from the long table behind him, and used it to pry open the corpse's lips.
"Ahem..." He turned around, looking at Thor with a slightly unnatural expression. "Yes, this is a place."
It worked!
Suppressing his excitement, Thor continued to observe the other parts of the corpse in a semi-immersive meditation.
then,
He saw two flashes of light.
Saul pointed out one of them, feigning uncertainty.
Katz nodded and asked if he had made any other discoveries.
Thor examined the area carefully again from top to bottom, ignoring the last flash of light, and straightened up to tell his mentor, "I haven't found anything else."
"Hmm, not bad." Kaz casually pointed out the insight that Thor had seen through but hadn't mentioned, and said nonchalantly, "There's another one here."
Next, Katz verbally instructed Thor to use the tools on the lab table behind him to cut and recycle the materials. Then, he placed them into three small boxes on the table, closed the lids, and inserted the latches.
The remaining parts of the body were wrapped in that piece of black leather and placed in a large box under the long table.
The large box was inscribed with a magical array that could seal away ghosts and monsters.
Only a large bloody mark remained on the conveyor belt.
Kaz nodded, raising his chin to signal Thor to pull the lever next to the teleportation platform again.
As the machine whirred, the blood-stained conveyor belt moved to the bottom of the machine, and another corpse emerged from behind the black leather tassels.
Thor's eyes narrowed instantly when he saw the head also protruding from the leather.
He knew the deceased...
She tried to seduce Saul on the first day she delivered the teaching materials, and appeared in Saul's nightmare that night.
That voluptuous maid!
Why did she die too?
Was it an accident or intentional?
"Do you know her?" Kaz asked in a flat voice, looking at Thor's expression.
"Yes, she once sent me textbooks."
"Death is a common occurrence in the Wizard's Tower."
"What if everyone dies like this?"
"Go to the nearby towns to recruit people; they are very willing to send people in."
After the casual conversation ended, Instructor Katz pointed to the maid, "She has... at least one usable part. If you can find it this time, I'll entrust this job to you."
Saul's spirits lifted, and forgetting his sorrow for the maid, he lifted the black leather covering her.
The maid's body was naked, and the long wound on her chest proved that she had also been dissected. However, she was ultimately just an ordinary person, and although her death was bizarre, there weren't many abnormal traces left on her body.
Unlike the new apprentices, who were placed in the large box under the table, this was already a light, flimsy pile.
