Chapter 2 Live Experiments
Chapter 2 Live Experiments
Thor stood still.
He was pondering, but his time was running out.
The candlelight on the wall had changed from a pale yellow to a dim yellow. When it turned bright yellow, it meant that dawn would break tomorrow. Before the candlelight emitted a white glow, Thor had to return to the fourth floor.
These are all regulations.
The pool of blood on the ground is still there.
If he leaves, he will become fertilizer the next day.
But cleaning?
He's just an ordinary person with no extraordinary abilities. What way could he possibly solve the problem of that bizarre, murderous blood?
Ask someone for help?
The boys living with him seemed to harbor some hostility towards Thor before his time travel; they would definitely not help him. Moreover, they were just ordinary people like Thor and had no ability to help him.
Looking for a housekeeper?
But the butler never appeared at night, and Thor didn't know where to look for him.
His current activity area is the fourth servant level and the eleventh to thirteenth levels.
There's no other way.
Thor's trembling fingers suddenly steadied.
He put the mop back in the cart and straightened his clothes.
He walked to the room opposite the one where blood had flowed, raised his hand, and gently knocked three times on the door.
The three knocks on the door were clearly audible in the quiet corridor.
Thor glanced down at the hardcover book; there was no new way for him to die.
Just as Thor raised his hand to knock three more times, the door in front of him suddenly opened.
Thor held his breath.
The door opened slowly.
A slender figure appeared behind them.
It was a woman wearing a black nightgown. She was voluptuous but not fat, and her skin, exposed outside the clothes, was very fair.
Thor looked up and saw a beautifully shaped chin, full, rosy lips, a high, straight nose, and above that... nothing.
The woman only has half a head!
Seeing such a scene in the pitch-black night, Thor felt as if his soul was about to fly away.
Thor suppressed his fear and didn't let himself show any impoliteness.
But his teeth were making a clicking sound uncontrollably.
The woman opposite lowered her head; the upper half of her head was gone, and the flesh at the cut of her skull was white and rotting.
The place that should have been eyes has been replaced by a semi-circular glass cover.
The glass dome contained a murky white liquid, and as she lowered her head, something resembling an eyeball would occasionally bump against the glass wall.
"What is it?"
The woman with half her face turned out with her lips slightly parted, and her voice was quite pleasant.
"My lord..." Thor heard his voice trembling. He took a deep breath to steady himself. "There's a pool of blood in the room across the way. I'm helpless. Please, my lord, save me."
The woman looked up, and an eyeball appeared in the glass case, pressed tightly against the edge.
Then her eyes disappeared, and she lowered her head, chuckling softly, "Why should I save you?"
Saul knew he wouldn't be so lucky as to knock on a door and meet a kind, helpful person.
"My lord, what do you need me to do?" Thor lowered his head.
He was just a servant and had no right to set conditions.
The woman rested her chin on her slender fingers. "I need a live test subject, but I'm short on credits lately. If you volunteer to be my test subject, I'll help you solve that problem."
Saul glanced sideways at the hardcover book on his left shoulder.
The hardcover book did not react at all.
Thor is too weak now; he can only gamble on the death warning in the hardcover book.
"good!"
The woman curled her red lips into a smile, quite pleased with Saul's decisiveness.
She stepped aside to let Saul into her room, then went outside and did something.
Saul stood in the woman's room.
He discovered that this place was much larger than the dormitory where the dozen or so of them lived, and there was even a suite inside.
An oil lamp was lit in the living room; it was very bright and steady, and it must have had a magical effect as well.
On the long table in the middle of the living room, there were many props and materials that he didn't recognize at all.
The most eye-catching thing is a crucible in the middle, placed on a small stove, with a pot of black liquid bubbling inside.
"It's this thing you're looking at." The woman walked in at some point.
Thor looked back and saw that the door was already closed. He wondered if the pool of blood outside had been cleaned up.
"I need you to put one hand into the crucible, take it out, and tell me how it feels."
The woman pulled out a bench, sat across the table, crossed her legs, and waited for Saul's reaction.
Saul knew he had no leverage to bargain, so he simply stopped trying to play the victim and beg for mercy.
He rolled up his left sleeve, took a deep breath, stepped forward, and plunged his entire hand into the black liquid.
He didn't test the waters with a single finger first, fearing he might do something inappropriate and upset the woman.
"Hiss—" Thor gasped.
But he wasn't burned; he was just cold.
A bone-chilling cold.
"Giggle giggle"
Thor was so cold that his teeth were chattering.
"You can take it out now."
Upon hearing the woman's voice, Saul quickly pulled his hand away.
But when he saw his hands, he inhaled the breath he had just exhaled in relief.
The skin and flesh on my hands were gone.
Thor's left hand was now just a skeleton, clean as a human figure in an art studio.
The scariest thing is that Thor isn't feeling any pain at this moment.
"Heh...heh..."
Thor was panting heavily, his right hand gripping his left wrist, both hands trembling.
His left hand trembled and made a sound of bones grinding together.
The woman opposite him did not comfort Saul's fear; she stood up and tapped her chin with her finger.
"It seems like the python released too much stomach acid. How do you feel in your left hand now?"
"Hehehe... It's cold... but it doesn't hurt..."
Despite his fear and the cold, Saul tried his best to act like a professional researcher.
"It seems to be under control."
As he spoke, he moved the fingers of his left hand.
It's a bit difficult, but it's definitely possible to move.
"Not bad." The woman smiled, seemingly quite satisfied with Thor's answer.
She picked and chose, taking a few items from the materials on the table and seemingly casually tossing them into the crucible.
Two plumes of white steam hissed out of the crucible, then it returned to its quiet state of bubbling away.
"Now," the woman sat back down, raised her chin with interest, and pointed to the crucible, "put it in with your other hand."
Thor let out a breath; he had expected this.
The first attempt was obviously unsuccessful.
The second experiment then proceeded naturally.
Thor released his left hand and then resolutely put his right hand into the crucible.
"Well……"
He suddenly felt as if his entire arm was about to freeze.
The right hand, buried in the black liquid, was completely numb.
"That's fine."
Upon hearing the woman's voice, Saul immediately withdrew his right hand.
Reassuringly, this time it wasn't a skeleton hand that was brought out.
Not only that, his hands, which were originally covered with scars and calluses from hard labor, became smooth and fair.
Before the woman could urge him, Thor said, "Ugh...it's still cold, even colder than before...hehehe..."
He tried to control the impact of his teeth.
"...It doesn't hurt, I can control it..."
Thor stretched out his fingers and held them up so the woman opposite him could see them clearly.
The woman smiled again, this time clearly more pleased, and Saul saw the sharp white teeth behind her red lips.
You really surprised me.
The woman stood up and even clapped her hands twice.
She walked to the other side of the room, took a crystal bottle from a cabinet, and handed it to Saul. "Drink this."
Seeing Saul's face turn ugly, she laughed heartily, the white hair on her head swaying with the movement.
"Don't worry, this isn't an experiment, it's a treatment drug."
