Chapter 19 Green's Understanding of Body Modification

Chapter 19 Green's Understanding of Body Modification

Despite always needing to stop and meditate to restore his mana, Thor was the newcomer who made the fastest progress in learning runes.

Many people failed to draw their first rune even by the end of get out of class.

But Thor wasn't too proud.

He knew in his heart that if it was already this difficult to draw runes, he didn't know how many more difficulties he would encounter if he wanted to cast a spell in the future.

So Thor didn't rush things. Instead, he repeatedly built several duplicate runes to reduce the loss of magic power, allowing him to build more runes with the same amount of magic power.

Instead of creating a rune, the magical fluctuations are as loud as thunder.

After class, Thor declined Cleo's request to accompany him and instead went to test his current magical abilities.

He wanted to know just how useless his magical talent really was.

Soon, he walked out looking dejected.

Although he was mentally prepared, the mere 3 jiao of magic still made him feel that the road ahead was bleak.

It is absolutely impossible to reach 10 joules within three months using conventional methods!

"What happens if the test fails? Most likely, it's death, right?"

Thor followed the slope of the East Tower to the library on the ninth floor. The moment he stepped through the library door, he had already made up his mind.

"It's better to fight to the death to pass the test than to die from failing it."

At the entrance to the library, a man sat upright against the wall; judging from his clothes, he seemed to be the librarian.

Saul stepped forward to ask about the rules for borrowing books from the library.

But the man would look up at the ceiling in terror one moment, and then cautiously peek at the ground the next, as if something terrifying was about to emerge from above and below him.

He completely ignored Saul's question.

Thor looked down and up at him, but found nothing unusual.

He had no choice but to return to the library entrance, where he warily peered at the rows of towering bookshelves.

A light mist hung in the air of the library, making only the two or three rows of bookshelves near the entrance clearly visible. The view became increasingly blurry as you moved further in, until finally they were completely obscured by the white mist.

There are prominent signs on both sides of the bookshelf, with words like "Level 0" and "Level 1" written in fist-sized letters.

The bookshelves here are arranged according to the hierarchy of witchcraft.

The higher the level of the bookshelf, the more profound and dangerous the knowledge must be.

Saul walked down the only straight path leading into the library.

My footsteps stopped at the boundary between the zero-level and first-level bookshelves.

He glanced at the exposed spines of the books on the bookshelf; many of the spines were labeled with names.

However, some of those books were written in wizarding languages, and apart from Noah's language, Thor did not know any other kinds of wizarding languages.

The text on the Level 0 books only made people feel slightly uncomfortable, but did not cause a strong sense of dizziness.

Thinking of the new apprentice who had just cut himself into strips and planted them in the flower bed that morning, Saul dared not look at the unfamiliar characters any longer.

After pausing at the boundary for a moment, Thor stepped further in, his figure disappearing behind the white mist.

Once the first person tries it, a second and a third will naturally follow quickly.

New apprentices entered the library one after another, curiously observing everything.

Someone went up and tried to wake up the security guard sitting at the door.

But when he placed his hand on the administrator's shoulder, the administrator suddenly vanished, and his hand disappeared into thin air.

It's as if everything that just happened was an illusion.

The newcomers looked at each other, recalling how strange the wizard's tower was, and quickly huddled together.

"Are we really going in? The atmosphere here is weird; it doesn't feel as safe as the dorm," said Jenna, a somewhat timid girl.

"Even that servant went in, you can't be worse off than a servant, can you?" another man with flamboyant features immediately retorted.

"We can wait here for a while and see if he encounters any danger when he goes in." This time, it was Duke who seemed much gentler than usual who spoke.

After being threatened by Thor, he seemed to have calmed down his violent temper.

But every time he looked in the direction where Thor disappeared, a hint of resentment would flash in his eyes, as if he desperately wanted Thor to disappear like that and never come out again.

To his disappointment, Thor reappeared from the white mist shortly afterward, carrying a book in his hand.

After coming out, Saul discovered that the nervous man who had been standing at the door was gone.

There was no one else in the library except him and a few newcomers.

"How do I borrow this book? Can I just take it with me?"

Given that senior students have to pay to impart their knowledge, Saul doesn't think the library is free.

"Two magic crystals for one day."

Just as Saul was looking around, an old man suddenly appeared at the door.

If you look closely at the old man's appearance, you will find that he looks very similar to the man who was sitting at the door just now, except that he looks more than ten years older.

So expensive!

Saul had anticipated that borrowing books wouldn't be cheap, but he hadn't expected them to be this expensive.

Without haggling, he handed two magic crystals to the old man and rushed out of the library.

Now he has to race against time.

"Are you also borrowing books? If so, hurry up and get them, don't waste my time." The old man put away the magic crystal with satisfaction, then turned to the other newcomers with a stern face.

Several newcomers shook their heads repeatedly.

"Are you kidding? The test is in three months. They haven't even finished learning the basics of witchcraft, who wants to read those profound books? And spend two whole magic crystals?"

That Thor is insane!

"If you're not going to lend it, then get lost." The old man snapped, and his figure suddenly vanished again.

The newlyweds, their cheeks burning, lowered their heads and jostled each other as they left the library.

After a short rest, at 2 p.m., Saul arrived at the laboratory with his newly borrowed book and a blank book.

He randomly picked an empty table and chair, threw the book on it, and buried himself in copying.

Soon after, Angela and Duke arrived.

The three of them remained seated far apart, each minding their own business and not disturbing the other.

It was almost three o'clock when Mark, a second-level apprentice, strolled into the laboratory, accompanied by a man who looked nervous.

Mark smiled and talked to the man while casually glancing over the laboratory.

When he saw Saul sitting there perfectly fine, a complex expression flashed across his face for a moment.

"Go back now, I'll contact you if anything happens." Mark nodded to the man, walked past Duke who was closer to the door, and went to Thor's side.

Duke, who had already stood up, awkwardly sat back down.

Mark's arrival did not bring Saul, who was engrossed in copying the book, back to his senses.

It wasn't until a hand gently tapped on Thor's table that he realized someone was standing next to him.

"Senior Mark." Thor immediately stood up, his respectful demeanor tinged with a hint of wariness.

"You did a great job yesterday, even cleaner than I did myself," Mark said with a smile. "But I've thought about it, and cleaning the lab might still be a bit difficult for you, so you won't need to do that anymore."

Saul's fingers, which were pressing on the book, curled up little by little.

Could Mark's sudden change of mind be related to the appearance of the pink guy last night?

Or are there other underlying reasons?

Saul was conflicted. Last night's experience was indeed terrifying, but if he didn't do the work of cleaning up the lab, he didn't have the money to ask Mark for advice.

"But senior..." Thor hesitated before speaking.

Mark immediately knew what Thor wanted to say and readily replied, "If you have any questions in the future, just ask me. Instructor Katz asked me to mentor you."

"Thank you, senior!" Thor immediately puffed out his chest, looking very excited.

The two appeared to be amicable and friendly, neither of them mentioning what had happened the day before.

Since Thor managed to survive last night, he must be quite remarkable.

Mark wouldn't casually lay a hand on an apprentice without a sufficient price to pay.

He didn't want to be dragged into even deeper trouble.

At the same time, he decided to give this talented newcomer some compensation, thus letting yesterday's incident go.

"Are you copying from a book?"

"Yes, I borrowed a book, but I can only borrow it for one day, so I thought I'd copy some down first and read it slowly."

"Let me see which parts are useful for you," Mark said enthusiastically, picking up the book.

Upon seeing the book cover, he glanced at Saul in surprise.

This book was actually the one he had mentioned to Thor yesterday—a book in the category of body modification!

Grimm's Understanding of Body Modification

"You really want to read this book?"

Saul nodded calmly in response to Mark's question.
