Chapter 182 Liangliang
Chapter 182 Liangliang
"Who brought them back?" Saul asked in surprise.
Both men died in Handle Valley, at the hands of the evil spirit Morton. They were pursued and in their haste to escape, so they had no time to retrieve their bodies.
He never expected to see the two of them again.
"It's probably Mochi Mochi. He lives in Black Fort Forest on the border. You can go there to rest when you travel in the future."
Mochi Mochi is that man who is very tall and thin, and whose place of residence is also very tall and thin.
Unexpectedly, he was able to bring the body back from the dangerous Chui Shou Valley.
However, the two corpses looked somewhat different from when they were alive.
The difference is not caused by factors such as livor mortis or gigantism, but rather by a subtle change.
Herman's skin became very rough. Only upon closer inspection could one see that Herman's skin had not become rougher, but rather that it had developed many tiny pores.
It's like someone poking a small hole in an orange peel with a silver needle; upon closer inspection, you can still see a clear difference.
"Is this... something that's seeping out from under his skin?"
Heywood smiled slightly. "It's a silvery metal, you should have seen it before. However, the corpse was severely deformed after being extracted, so for the sake of the collection's aesthetics, I had to find some other materials to fill it in."
Heywood tapped the transparent coffin-like box. "It's not completely dry inside yet, so handle it with care when you move it."
Saul opened the lid of the box, pulled a metal rod from his pocket, and gently pressed it against the back of Herman's hand.
A milky white viscous substance peeked out from a small hole on the back of his hand, but as Thor retracted the metal rod, the viscous substance slowly seeped back in.
"The seepage rate is a bit high. I'll let it air out before putting it among the corpses." Thor finished speaking and then looked at Bill's body. "Bill's body... is there anything I need to be careful about?"
Heywood said, "His problem isn't serious. Master Gudo has already helped neutralize the toxins in his body, but he still needs..."
He was halfway through his sentence when a sudden gust of air pushed Bill's lips open, creating a small gap.
"puff--"
"...Let it out," Haywood said the rest of the sentence without changing his expression.
Thor: "..."
"Okay, I'll air this one out too."
The two men produced the handover documents, and the two newly processed artifacts were officially placed into the second warehouse.
Heywood nodded in satisfaction, and seeing that Saul had already pushed the two transparent boxes, he turned to leave.
Just then, a gap appeared in the hood behind him, and a pair of eyes shining with excitement peeked out.
But her excitement didn't last long.
"Where are your eyes???" A hoarse female voice came from behind Haywood, sounding rather exasperated.
Before Thor could even speak, Haywood laughed and said, "Need you even ask? Of course, it's hidden."
Heywood turned to Saul and said, "Of course, if you ever change your mind, we can still go ahead with the deal... that beautiful eye you've been hiding."
Heywood smiled and stepped back, leaving the second warehouse.
"Did Heywood recognize the Nightmare Butterfly, or did he realize the cocoon was valuable?" Thor could only remain vigilant in the face of the other party's amazing observational abilities.
He moved Bill and Herman's bodies into the warehouse.
Because the condition of the two new collectibles is not yet stable, Saul continues to keep them in transparent boxes.
"How interesting. The consciousnesses of these two people are with me, and now their bodies have been delivered to my doorstep. It's quite an end to them being reunited."
Just as Saul was lamenting the fickleness of fate, a chill suddenly passed through his body and surged toward the two new collectibles.
White frost began to form on Thor's eyebrows and hair.
He quickly took two steps back to avoid the sudden cold air, and only then did he feel that the temperature around him had returned to normal.
It seems as if something just entered the two corpses from all directions.
"It doesn't seem like a simple temperature drop. Could it be a spirit?" Thor entered a semi-immersive meditation and scanned the two newcomers, but found nothing. "The chill seems to have disappeared. The anomaly just now ended before I could observe it. Next time a newcomer comes, I must remember to observe any changes in their spirits."
Thor pondered as he took notes.
It was nearing the time agreed upon with Kongsa, so Saul temporarily suspended his observation of the two new collections.
He went to the shelf space, below item number 117.
He had previously checked all the numbered items one by one when he was organizing the warehouse.
Some of these things look terrifying and dangerous, while others look like the most common things around us.
"Number 117, Elf Whisper." Thor carefully took a bottle half-filled with a clear liquid from the shelf.
A branch leans against the bottle, with liquid protruding from its tip, from which two tender green leaves extend.
It looks full of life, small and cute.
The whispers of the elves are actually the branches inside the bottle, not including the bottle itself or the liquid inside.
These two items are actually used to seal away the whispers of the elves.
The warehouse manual warns number 117: "Do not pour out the liquid from the bottle, nor remove the twig from the bottle. If either of these rules is violated, you must immediately notify Mentor Kaz or Lord Gorsata. If you encounter a creature with fair skin, golden eyes, and long ears, do not attempt to interact with it!"
Besides, the manual doesn't record how to use Elven Whisper, but Kongsha certainly has her own way of doing it, so Thor doesn't need to worry about it.
Their agreement was that Thor would move the item inside the bronze gate, open it at the appointed time, let Kongsa in to use Elven Whisper for one minute, and then Kongsa would leave immediately after that.
The most dangerous part for Thor was the process of transporting the whispers of the elves back and forth.
However, Thor is no longer the defenseless first-class apprentice he once was.
Who doesn't break some rules when they're a student?
Therefore, after confirming that there were no clues in the diary, Thor placed the bottle containing the elven whispers on the cart.
As I left, I also grabbed a small hourglass timer.
He only intended to give Kongsa one minute to avoid any unforeseen circumstances.
Somewhat to Thor's surprise, he pushed the cart smoothly to the bronze gate without encountering any trouble.
Saul took out his small hourglass timer and waited for 7:55 to arrive.
It's already 7:53, so he won't have to wait too long.
The waiting time seemed to pass very slowly.
Thor tapped the handle of the cart incessantly with his index finger, gradually becoming irritated.
After he tapped the hourglass 60 times, he looked down at it again.
It's still 7:53...
"Is my perception of time wrong, or is there something wrong with the hourglass?"
Saul turned his head away and silently counted to sixty again, but when he looked down, he found that the hourglass was still stopped at 53 minutes.
"Something's definitely wrong." Thor looked at the tender green branches in the cart. "I didn't touch the branches, nor did I open the bottle. Sure enough, just moving its position has some effect."
Thor calmed himself down, trying to dispel the inexplicable irritation in his heart, and entered a meditative state while standing there.
During meditation, he realized that his mental state had indeed experienced some unusual fluctuations, but he hadn't noticed them at all. Fortunately, the fluctuations weren't too severe, and he could recover through meditation.
Thor quickly calmed the shock in his mental body, glanced at the time, and saw it was 7:56.
He immediately released the cart, walked to the bronze gate, and pushed it open.
Outside the door, Kongsa, her face half-covered by a cloak, stood with her head down in the dark corridor.
The darkness pressed down on her body, as if trying to drive the woman away from the first floor of the East Tower.
Hearing the door open, the woman, who had been standing like a statue, looked up. "You're a minute late. What happened?"
