Chapter 160 Lying Flat
Chapter 160 Lying Flat
Thor brushed past himself.
He watched as he followed Kugin with a curious expression, walking from his right side to behind him.
As he disappeared from his sight, the scene before him changed again.
Thor remained standing there, unable to move, but all he could see were the backs of other people's heads.
He teleported to another location and stood there.
While battling nausea and dizziness, Kukin reappeared, passing by Thor. This time, Kukin's arm brushed against Thor's shoulder, knocking him slightly off balance.
The other person immediately returned, helped Thor up, and then continued walking.
The next moment, Thor saw himself following him again, and even glanced at him.
Once he disappeared from sight again, Thor's perspective followed.
And so, Thor moved back again and again, watching the two walk past him each time.
Until the two of them passed through the entire horde of corpses.
Thor finally understood his current predicament.
He didn't see a ghost, nor did he teleport; rather, he possessed the group of corpses in the warehouse and saw the scene they had witnessed before.
But these corpses didn't open their eyes at the time, so how could they see? And who saw Kugin and himself?
However, now is not the time for research; Thor must return to his body as soon as possible.
Thor stared at the back of the person's head. Although his gaze kept shifting, the long-term observation made him notice a repair mark on the back of the head.
The victim's fatal wound was in the back of his head, but what material was used to repair the defect before he was placed here?
No wonder none of the "people" standing here have any visible injuries.
At first glance, one might think these people died peacefully.
"I can't keep thinking like this. I need to get out of the zombie horde's control as soon as possible. I don't want to die out of my body for no reason."
Thor began to ignore the effects of the constantly shifting vision in front of him and tried to visualize the erosion diagram.
He watched the person walk clockwise forward over and over again, and then at the very bottom of the circle, he transformed into an octopus monster.
The reason it's called an octopus monster instead of an octopus is because the monster's hands and feet are octopus sucker tentacles, but human facial features can be seen at the tips.
Thor imagined himself as that octopus monster. He tried to take a step forward, but his body still felt as heavy as if he were carrying a mountain.
However, Thor did not give up. He used all his strength and focused on lifting his right foot.
"Slap! Slap! Slap!"
A strange and ethereal voice echoed in Thor's mind, like rubber bands being snapped.
He finally took the first step!
"Clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap—"
More and more cracking sounds came, and then Thor suddenly stumbled away from the corpse. Immediately afterward, his gaze quickly shifted backward again.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself back in front of rows of tall shelves.
Looking down, I saw his former hands, those human hands.
"I'm back?"
Thor turned around and saw that he was still sitting in the chair.
"So I just returned to where my soul had been. But it's good that I'm free from the control of the corpse."
Recalling his recent ordeal, Thor dared not go any further, fearing he would be dragged away by those corpses again to watch porn.
"Although I returned to my body last time by following the erosion map's route, it doesn't necessarily have to start from the furthest point. Maybe... never mind, let's give it a try."
Thor drew a circle in his mind, with his current location and his physical location as the two ends of the diameter.
Then he took a step and, following the imagined circle, imitated the movements on the erosion diagram, moving clockwise toward his own body.
This time, his surroundings were clean, and no shadowy figures showed any interest in his body.
Thor walked steadily step by step, and finally, he stood where his body had been.
He opened his eyes, and a skeletal arm appeared before him, holding surgical instruments in its hand.
Thor breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm back."
Before he could even feel relieved to be back in his body, a tremendous sense of exhaustion began to overwhelm his mind.
He stood up, holding onto the chair, but after taking only two steps, he realized he was so drowsy he could fall asleep at any moment and wouldn't make it back to his dorm in time.
"Although the time spent outside the body was short, breaking free from the restraints of those corpses took too much of my energy."
He simply lay down on the ground and stared at the ceiling above his head.
"As long as I lie flat, no one can trip me up anymore."
Before his thoughts could race, he closed his eyes and instantly fell asleep.
Just after Saul fell asleep, the large quill pen, which hadn't moved for two days, suddenly floated up and took flight.
Then, on the clean paper that Saul had prepared earlier, he wrote a string of somewhat messy words.
……
When Saul opened his eyes again, he had no idea that he had received his first assignment at his new job.
He felt an intense hunger that was about to burn a hole in his chest.
"I'm so hungry." Thor took a step forward, his steps unsteady.
The biting wind, mixed with flying snow, kept lashing against his body.
The biting cold seeped into his bones little by little, bringing a deeper sense of numbness.
With each step he took forward, he felt a sharp, piercing pain in his joints.
In his hunger and cold, Thor came upon a house.
The doors of the house were tightly shut in the darkness, but warm light shone through the windows.
Through the glass, Thor saw a fireplace with a campfire burning inside, a long table laden with various delicacies, and girls laughing and chatting around the table.
"I want to go in!"
An intense desire stirred a power within Thor, and he quickened his pace once more, arriving at the gate.
"Knock knock knock".
The initial knocking was polite.
Thor didn't want to frighten the girl inside.
But after waiting for a long time... about two seconds, no one came to open the door!
Anger began to replace reason.
The knocking on the door became chaotic.
Still no one opened the door, and he also heard the sound of someone running away.
"Why don't you open the door? You're enjoying the food and warmth, so you're just going to ignore the people outside?"
Thor could no longer contain himself and kicked the door open.
The light made him squint, but Saul still managed to spot a roast chicken running away.
That roast chicken was as big as a person; if you ate it, you would definitely fill your stomach.
Thor, drooling, pounced on him.
……
Thor opened his eyes and saw a tall ceiling in front of him.
He swallowed hard, suppressing his churning stomach, and barely managed to hold back from dry heaving like last time.
He stood up and felt all his fatigue completely restored, and even his mental strength had improved a little!
However, the scenes in his previous dream prevented him from feeling happy.
In his dream, he ate another person and then devoutly turned the corpse into a dead man flower.
He could sense the emotions of the person in his dream, as if they were performing some kind of sacrificial ritual.
While making the Dead Man Flower, Solt realized he had entered someone's dream again.
Thor got up from the ground and first glanced at the hourglass on the wall.
4:30 in the morning.
If, like last time, everything he saw in his dream happened in reality, then the killing should have just ended.
When Penny possessed the Nightmare Butterfly's cocoon, she saw other people's dreams.
But what he saw was reality.
Moreover, it is a processed version of reality.
Saul sighed, rubbing his forehead. "It seems the apprentice handling this hasn't finished his task. How inefficient!"
As he looked down, Saul noticed the quill pen standing on the table.
He hurried over and saw a string of messy writing on the white paper.
"Tima's Horn, Entangling Twisted Toxin... Deliver to Mentor Rum's room before 8 PM on April 30th."
"We've got work. Today's the 28th, so there's plenty of time."
This is Saul's first job, and he must take it seriously.
First, find these materials.
Saul picked up the paper, turned around, and saw dozens of tall shelves in front of him, covered with a dense array of materials.
I take back my last statement.
The Lunar New Year is just around the corner! I wonder if all of you readers have already embarked on your journeys home?
Although I mentioned it in the book review, I'll repeat it here: the posting time will be changed to 12 PM from now on. This is to avoid me not being able to get up in the morning and keeping everyone waiting.
Thanks for the support!
