Chapter 159 What are you afraid of?
Chapter 159 What are you afraid of?
At this moment, the flamboyant man who was the first to enter stopped and turned to look at Billy.
"You don't even care that your brother died?"
Billy, completely unconcerned, continued walking inside, found a document and started flipping through it, saying, "Mind your own business."
The first man, after being rebuffed, wasn't angry. Instead, he asked the newcomer with interest, "What's been happening in the tower these past six months?"
"Jero, you want to know who else died, don't you?" The female apprentice walked over with a charming smile and put her elbow on Jero's shoulder.
Jero pushed the woman's arm down with one finger. "Don't do that, Rita. I only sleep with dead people."
Rita, a Level 3 female apprentice, rolled her eyes. "Aside from Bill's death, nothing much has really happened lately. Oh, by the way, Byron and Wright, who were traveling with him, brought back a sailboat, which they reportedly earned a lot of credits in return."
Jero's eyes immediately lit up. "A sailboat? I like it. How many dead men could you buy it for?"
"Then you'd better hurry," Rita said. "A lot of people are interested in sailboats."
Then a third person walked in, took off his hood, revealing a beautiful lower half of his face and a glass skull filled with white fluid.
The two Level 3 apprentices who were originally in the activity room immediately stopped talking and turned to do their own things.
Kong Sha ignored everyone else, swayed her hips, and walked to a notice board in the activity room, looking at the names on it.
Jero followed Kongsha with interest and went over there as well.
This signboard lists the names of the apprentices inside the tower who are responsible for some important tasks.
Every time Kongsha came back from outside, she would come here to look at all the names.
In the past, she would leave after reading, but today, one of her eyes remained fixed on a name for a long time without moving.
Then more eyes popped out, all focused on one point.
Following Kongsha's gaze, Jero read out the name.
"Second Warehouse: Thor." He stroked his chin. "Never heard of that name. Is he a third-level apprentice who joined from outside? I'd really like to meet him."
"I advise you not to mess with him, hehehe."
Then someone else walked into the activity room.
This time, the people who came in were Luo Kai, the president of the mutual aid association, and Ku Jin, a tall and strong man who had just lost his job.
The speaker was Luo Kai.
Jero and Kongsha turned around at the same time, but Kongsha was expressionless, while Jero seemed more interested.
"Oh? Could it be that you're someone with connections, like me?"
Luo Kai wasn't angry at being mocked. "It's precisely because we can't find out anything about his identity or background that it's so scary."
He pointed his thumb at Kugin beside him, "Now, he's only been promoted to Level 2 for less than half a month, and he's already taken over Kugin's job."
"Hmph!" The male apprentice with Rita suddenly stood up, his face displeased, and said, "So, level two apprentices can just walk into the activity room anytime now?"
Kong Sha ignored him, looked away, and quickly left the activity room.
If those present had known her, they would probably have assumed that Kongsa had left out of fear of the Third-Level Apprentice's wrath.
Luo Kai spread his hands and smiled, saying, "Level two apprentices are guided by level three apprentices and are allowed into the activity room. Senior Ferguson, have you forgotten?"
Ferguson immediately stepped forward angrily.
Rocco didn't dodge, but Kugin raised his hand to block Ferguson.
Ferguson stared coldly at the hand blocking his way, then turned to Kugin and said, "First you had your job stolen by a second-level apprentice, now you're a bodyguard for one. You're getting worse and worse. Forget about becoming a full wizard; go be someone else's dog!"
"You!" Kujin's face turned bright red, and he was about to strike.
But Ferguson simply bypassed them and left the activity room.
Kukin glanced around; although no one seemed to be mocking him, he still felt somewhat embarrassed.
"I'm leaving. You can stay here by yourself," Kukin said and quickly walked away.
Luo Kai wasn't angry about being left in the activity room; he just shrugged and sighed, "They have such a good relationship."
Rita, who had just been dismissive of Kongsha, walked over, chin raised, and asked, "Did you get everything I wanted?"
Luo Kai's smile brightened. "Of course, we're a mutual aid society. If Senior Rita is willing to join, I can give you a discount."
Rita raised an eyebrow. "How much cheaper?"
Luo Kai gave a number.
Rita said nonchalantly, "Then I'll join."
The two immediately began the transaction, but Jero once again turned his attention to the notice board.
"Thor?" He looked at him with interest.
……
Back at the Wizard's Tower, my days and diary became full again.
Studying, experimenting, working... oh, the work hasn't officially started yet.
In the two days since he took over the second warehouse, the quill pens have never been touched.
Because of the horrible dream he had on his first night back, Thor was wary and didn't sleep, instead resorting to meditation.
He didn't want to get into strange trouble as soon as he returned to the Wizard's Tower.
This dream also hinted to Thor that the Nightmare Butterfly's cocoon was now about to assert its presence.
Saul had had dreams that foreshadowed danger, but they were all related to himself. He had never dreamed of a murder scene.
Moreover, it's a scene seen from the killer's perspective.
This instantly reminded him of the Nightmare Butterfly, the cocoon that had taken the initiative to come to his left eye.
The cocoon the little girl wore for four years had no other obvious effects besides allowing her to see other people's dreams.
Therefore, Thor did not take the danger of the cocoon to heart.
However, his experience on his first night back in the tower clearly told Thor that the Nightmare Butterfly's cocoon had undergone some kind of change on him.
"Should we take it out?"
Saul found a mirror, took a sterilized thin needle, and held it up to his eyes a couple of times.
But before he could act, he hesitated.
Although the dream was disgusting, it had not yet caused any harm to Saul.
Saul was also worried that if he took out the cocoon, it would run back into his right eye before he could finish sealing it.
He can't exactly play hide-and-seek with this guy using his own body.
"Perhaps I should find someone to help me." The thin needle twirled between Saul's fingers, then stopped. "Hayden!"
Before Thor left the tower, Hayden was a first-class apprentice.
But he had worked in the morgue for nearly ten years and was very skilled in human anatomy and material preservation.
Thor plans to have Hayden help him remove the Nightmare Butterfly.
As long as he remains conscious throughout the surgery, he has nothing to fear from Hayden's underhanded tactics.
After all, Thor is now a second-level apprentice, and his strength and magic power far surpass Hayden's.
Without hesitation, Saul picked up the surgical instruments he had prepared for himself and got up to go find Hayden.
But just then, his chest suddenly lit up.
The light emanated from his heart; it was a soft, warm-colored light source.
Thor lowered his head and raised his hand to his chest.
Although he had never seen this kind of light before, he knew in an instant what it was.
Soul-Guiding Oil Lamp!
Thor slowly turned his head and, sure enough, saw his own head hanging low.
He gave a wry smile. "Sure enough, the fact that the tower master gave me this oil lamp was a clear indication that I might have an out-of-body experience again."
Since it wasn't the first time, Thor wasn't as flustered as before.
Following the same method as before, he walked away with his back to himself, preparing to find the point furthest from his own body.
But after walking a few steps, Thor realized that he seemed to have covered a distance that exceeded the farthest distance he had ever covered before.
Thor glanced back, but his body remained still.
Indeed, the diameter of the circle has increased.
Thor raised his hand to his forehead. "Why is it that every time I learn something new, something deeper and more unknown affects me? Don't we ever get a chance to breathe?"
Lamenting and complaining were useless; Thor could only solve the immediate problem first.
He continued forward, searching for new frontiers.
As Thor took his next step, the world before him suddenly sped up as if it were being fast-forwarded 16 times, and then abruptly stopped, revealing a door in front of him.
That was the third door leading into the warehouse, and also the innermost metal door.
Everything in front of him kept moving up, down, left, right, back, and forth, making Saul feel nauseous.
"Did I... teleport?"
This was Thor's first reaction, but when he tried to move again, he found himself unable to move and could only stand still.
"What happened?"
He couldn't even look down at the soul-guiding oil lamp on his chest; Thor could only stare straight ahead.
Just then, the metal door was suddenly pushed open.
Kugin, a tall man with a displeased expression, walked in.
"Kujin? How did he get in?"
As a former warehouse manager, Kukin has lost the ability to enter freely.
This place is different from the morgue. The magic circle on the metal door is the lock, and the "key" is now in Thor's hands.
Before Thor could even get nervous, a small, thin man who had been following Kujin also walked in.
Upon seeing the person clearly, Thor was so shocked that his gaze froze.
That's him.
Thor saw himself following Kugin into the second warehouse with a curious expression!
