Chapter 143 Brains and Fists

Chapter 143 Brains and Fists

Thor hid among the many spirits, pretending to be a member of Chaos.

However, witnessing Byron deceiving the evil spirits throughout the entire process stirred up his emotions once again.

When did Byron become such a good actor?

Where did that honest and simple senior from back then go?

Is the world outside the tower really that complicated?

Thor's fluctuating emotions did not affect his ability to act. He hid behind a confused soul and followed it toward the center circle.

Most of the spirits around the platform were moving around in a daze, only following their instincts and heading towards Morton in the center of the platform because of their last will to survive.

Their remaining consciousness told them that they had to kill Morton, or they would be gone forever.

Thor watched as these delirious souls struggled to move their limbs and ran, howling as they pounced on Morton, feeling as if he were in a post-apocalyptic zombie movie.

Unfortunately, he was also one of the "zombies".

As he ran, Thor spotted several familiar figures among the spirits.

At the very front of the many spirits was Herman, his face contorted with rage, his limbs twisted, as he was about to rush towards Morton.

Morton, however, continued to absorb the soul fragments flying in the air, paying no attention to anyone else.

Thor saw Bill again among the crowd of souls.

Perhaps because he had recently died, or perhaps because his spirit was stronger, Bill appeared to be more lucid than the other spirits.

In fact, like Thor, he was secretly observing his surroundings.

This clarity and rationality continued until Bill suddenly turned around and met Saul's gaze.

Although there were many souls around, they weren't densely packed, leaving Thor nowhere to hide.

The next second, Bill, who had been calculating and calmly observing, suddenly lost control. He howled like a wild beast, abandoned his attempt to approach the center, and ran across the platform towards Thor.

His eyes were wide open, his mouth twitched, and the muscles in his cheeks trembled.

This powerful Level 3 Apprentice smashed through the crowds blocking his way and quickly reached Thor.

Thor never imagined that Bill's hatred for him would surpass that of the evil spirit that killed him!

"You started it all, but you're acting like a victim!"

Despite the unexpected turn of events, Thor didn't intend to hold back, seeing that Bill had already raised his hands.

Within this space of consciousness, there is no witchcraft, no magic; all spirits can only fight by relying on their own spiritual power.

This magic array also transforms their mental energy into physical attacks in the world of consciousness.

In other words, it's a physical and emotional experience.

Bill used the momentum to throw a straight punch.

However, Thor, with his clear mind and quick thinking, easily dodged with a twist of his body.

Bill missed his first punch and threw another.

But Thor dodged it again.

After two brief exchanges, Thor immediately understood the rules of combat here.

"Bill is a Level 3 Apprentice with a very powerful spiritual body, which translates into great power in his punches here. However, he has been devoured by Morton, and his self-awareness has begun to become chaotic. This agitation has added to his madness, so his attacks are straightforward but not fast."

"But I'm different!"

"I was fully conscious and unharmed. So, in my eyes, everyone else moved as slowly as children."

While pondering, Saul dodged Bill's headbutt once again and created some distance while Bill staggered.

He looked down at his hands and clenched them into fists.

It was still the same pair of hands, but they seemed to be full of power.

"Lord Gorsa always said that I have a high talent for mental power, and even secretly taught me about it. But I have never really understood just how high my talent for mental power really is."

Thor looked up and saw that Bill had caught up again, roaring as he launched his attack.

"Now let me take a good look."

Thor threw his first punch!

There were no tricks, no dodging, just a straight punch.

The punch suddenly accelerated in mid-air, producing a whooshing sound despite the lack of air in the space of consciousness.

Thor punched Bill's fist, instantly shattering it. The attack continued, the fist grazing Bill's arm, the wind slicing through Bill's muscles, and finally striking Bill's chin hard!

boom--

Bill was sent flying.

His head was twisted 180 degrees behind him, and his neck and shoulders were torn apart as a result.

After knocking over two unfortunate spirits, it crashed heavily onto the round platform!

It's a pity that the battle between souls lacked the blood and gore of the main story, making it less exciting.

"I'm really strong!"

Thor was initially pleased, but his expression quickly turned serious.

He looked at Morton, who was already locked in combat with numerous souls, and saw him easily knock Herman, who was charging at him, away.

"Even though I'm already this strong in this consciousness space, the diary still thinks I don't have a high chance of winning against Morton."

Thor didn't launch another attack. Instead, he took three steps to Bill's side and flipped him over.

Bill's left cheek was noticeably sunken, with his chin and the corner of his mouth sunken in, like a dented billiard ball.

"So, the soul can be deformed when it's hit?"

Bill saw Saul's face, and fear flashed in his eyes, but it was quickly replaced by madness and anger.

Does a more severe injury lead to a less clear consciousness?

Bill tried to attack Thor, but he forgot that his head was behind him, and several of his punches only hit the ground.

Thor stepped on Bill's back and twisted his head back into place with both hands.

Bill, whose head was back in place, was ungrateful and tried to attack Thor, but Thor held down Bill's hands, immobilizing him, and turned Bill's face to the center.

"See that person? Kill him, and you'll be resurrected."

Bill, who had been struggling, suddenly stopped in his tracks.

Thor stood behind him, lowering his voice and gesturing, "Don't let anger control you, Bill. Is killing a nobody second-level apprentice more important than your resurrection?"

Before seeing Thor, Bill seemed to still retain his rationality, so his rationality had not completely disappeared.

Saul wants to free him from his anger and bring him back to his soul's survival instinct.

At the same time, he hid behind Bill while speaking, so that Bill would not fall into a mad rage again if he saw him.

As he expected, Bill heard his words and looked at the evil spirit in the center of the pedestal, and was reminded of his own death.

Only by defeating the evil spirits and becoming the master of this space can one continue to survive, even if it is in the form of an evil spirit!

Bill roared again and charged forward.

"Although my fists are hard, wizards should still use their brains more in battle." Thor felt great satisfaction and punched his chest with both fists.

However, Bill rushed forward and was quickly knocked away.

He landed headfirst, having suffered two injuries from Thor and the evil spirit. When he got up again, his head slumped over his shoulder and would fall off while he was running.

Thor looked at the farcical battlefield ahead and shook his head helplessly.

"Bill and Herman can indeed interfere with Morton, but their influence is limited. The only one who can truly threaten Morton here is me."

"I haven't been in a fight since I became an apprentice. No, I haven't been in a fight for a long time since I graduated."

Thor stretched his limbs. "I really should beat him up!"
